When a new game comes out, like CoD, Battlefield, Skyrim, Assiassin's Creed, Max Payne, any new game, do you go to the Midnight Release to pick up a copy? or you sleep it?

Why would anyone in their right mind go to one of those things? There'd be creepers and zombies everywhere...
Also, generally not. I don't see the point.

I ignore it until it's on sale for at least half off.
I can wait. I let the impatient gamers do the second-stage paid-beta testing for me and half a year later I get a game that works for half the cost. :D

No, I'm not that insane. If I want a game a lot, I'll probably pick it up 2-3 days after release.

I've been to the midnight release of Halo 2 and 3 back before my PC took over my gaming time.
I worked in a bar around the corner from Gamestation so went in on my way home.

Even my favorite console games I've never gotten at a midnight release. I don't see a point, when I can just preorder it and pick it up when it's convenient.

I was one of those nutters who went for a midnight pre-order of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book all that time ago, so I can't see a problem. If you want to, why not?

My friend went to the Gears of War 3 release and won the collector's edition of the game, and a GoW3 themed controller.
If you can win free stuff without buying it, why not?

No. Why would I? So I don't get the game for eight more hours. I'll be sleeping after midnight anyways.
No. I like to sleep at night.

Last midnight release I attended was for Fallout:New Vegas. Got my super premium extra awesome collectors edition and raced home at the speed of 55 miles per hour.
Then I had to wait three hours for the game to unlock on Steam.

Firstly, since I so rarely waste money on a full price game , NO!
Secondly, I ain't getting dressed and driving to a store at midnite for something I can pickup the next day without a crowd holding me up.
Thirdly even if I'm on second shift, I can be home and comfortable way before midnight. Why would I want to sit in my car for another 40 minutes to pick up a silly game early? Children are so impatient. Stores love them.

Only ever done a midnight launch for one game (barring digital releases on Steam), and that game was Halo Reach. Went out with a buddy, stocked up on energy drinks and junk food, queued up outside GAME, got game, and then went home and finished the co-op campaign just in time for breakfast.
I should note - it was quite a bit of fun.

Who actually goes to stores these days for games besides console players?

Who actually goes to stores these days for games besides console players? The person that doesn't know that gamestop hates PC gamers and that you can get retail PC games from Amazon/ebay and delivered to your door cheaper so they foolishly preorder from Game"plop".

I like living in New Zealand. The simultaneous worldwide releases are always at a sensible time of day :)

Only when the game is something I'm really really excited for.
Like, I went to the NYC launch party for Super Mario Galaxy, and if I had to get it via a midnight launch at a store instead of waiting for a file validation I would've for Portal 2, but I won't do it for most games.

My midnight release was Portal 2 being unlocked on my PC.

Yes, let's punish those poor GameStop employees by encouraging midnight releases by going to them.
Somebody has to stay up late at a crappy job, because people interpret "release day" as freaking 12:01am.

Heck no. The very very few games I pre-order on PC, I'll naturally want to unlock at midnight. But other than that... Pointless waste of time. Also usually I wait until prices go down to reasonable before even buying games. $60=ripoff. I'd rather buy something cooler like a flight suit or space shuttle hardware <_<

I think I waited for a few pre-purchased Steam games to unlock if that counts.
Actually going out at midnight to buy video games seems kinda crazy to me. Besides, I can't even remember the last time I was in a retail video game store.

Those poor Gamestop employees who are getting paid for overtime. I'm willing to bet that a lot of employees are grateful for the oppurtunity to earn more money.

The only game I've been excited enough about to go to a midnight release was Skyrim. Then I stayed up all night playing it. And I guess it wasn't all too awful. I got to see some incredibly dorky outfits, play the game before it was handed out, and won a nifty replica of a Septim coin from a questionnaire.
Other games, I just wait until the next day. I've waited a few months, a few more hours can't hurt.
That being said, with retail PC games quickly becoming obsolete, I will no longer pre-order and rarely buy physical games.

I went to the Starcraft 2 midnight release at my local gamestop. It was pretty fun just to hang out with all of the other excited gamers and talk and have a good time. A couple of people brought snacks and booze. It was like a mini party, and then you get a videogame at the end

I'm willing to bet that a lot of employees are grateful for the oppurtunity to earn more money.Since most of them get 10-15 hours if lucky no where near a full 40 hours a week unless they are a manager, there is no overtime for the peasant workers just an extra hour or two of straight pay.

I laughed really hard at this. I think that means it's time for me to go to bed :p
OT: No, nuh uh, never. I sleep at night and buy my games way after they release.

I went to a midnight release of WoW: Frozen Throne. At Tescos of all places. My expereince of Burning Crusade and buying it the day after it released led me to wanting to make sure my questing areas weren't completely overrun.

The only Midnight release I've ever been part of was for Windows 95. Talk about a part, wooo-hooo!
Well, I've cause Midnight releases myself, usually after eating too much Mexican food and drinking. Let's just say that the commode is no safe place to be during those late night hours after I'm through.

I don't think I've ever picked up a game at a store having one of those midnight releases. I have downloaded a game from Steam when it released at midnight.

Well, considering I usually go to bed at 2 or 3 AM (when I'm not having lessons at University), I'd go. However, there aren't retail stores in my town, so I won't go.
