Hi,

I know it probably isn't the best place to write some impressions about Divinity 2 but i just can't remain silent after the 50h i just spent in the game and i would like to help some people out there still hesitating about buying it.

I bought Divinity 2 for $9.99 during last year x'mas event on Steam without any expectations and even less intentions of playing it (Buying stuff on Steam is just enough fun out of itself you know) and it was sitting on my game list for a few month until 2 weeks ago. I was kinda bored of all games I am playing on a regular basis and wanted some new. I went for the RPG genre I don't usualy play and launched Divinity 2 and.... oh my ! what a blast !
It is far from being perfect but seriously perfect is not a real goal in itself. Being a great game with addicting gameplay and a compelling story is a goal and Divinity 2 reaches it and goes even beyond !

I don't want to compare Divinity 2 to the following games but it will give an idea of how the game plays and how I view it. It is as addicting as Diablo for its loot and leveling systems, as profound as Borderlands for its exploration (and loot also) and as beautiful as... as... as itself actually ! It will certainly not please graphic ♥♥♥♥♥s but the general design of the game is great and it looks and feels good and coherent. The story is long and interesting and (and that's really important) directed to a mature crowd in that it doesn't take itself too seriously (without being too light either).

Despite its honorable 82 metascore it might be one of those underrated game that does not know the success it deserves because of its unfortunate (non-existent) marketing.

I'd advise you if you don't own it yet to just put it into your wishlist and wait for some discount and make a good deal or download to the Demo first. Although I don't know how the demo is, the game is totally worth the time.

Thanks for the reading

PS : I apologize for the bad english

I agree, this game is indeed underrated, but it's a really good game to try. I played it and enjoyed every moment. There's so much to dive in for, and the story is great! If you're the type of person who loves lore and stories, then this game is for you! To be honest, isn't that what all RPGS are about? I just love a story to be a part of!

i am on the second part now and its still keeping my interest with often funny or sometimes slightly horrific quests that are nearly always originally written, i am in the city now and i am hoping its gonna open out like the first one did, my character is nearly invincible but the combat is still fun and a challenge!

Agree. A great unknown title.

Started this after 3 recent buys that didn't really do it for me and because it had been sitting in my games list for most of the last year. I tried this out when I bought it in 2011, but uninstalled right at the beginning before doing a single quest. Turns out I was wrong in giving it up so quickly.

A very entertaining game that keeps on giving, and a very unique take on this genre with a much larger world than I had any idea about going into it. I like that it runs so smoothly (so far without error after some marathon sessions) and has a comparatively simple interface. They solved one of the classic bugaboos of RPG games too: Hoarding things you'll never use and having to manage a huge inventory while keeping under the encumbrance limit, and having to be a freak about potion materials and gemstone collection, etc. Sending things back to your battle tower is a terrific idea; same with sending out scouts to get materials for you.

I have no issues with the difficulty levels, though XP received from enemies doesn't seem to match the challenge a lot of the time - sometimes tons of XP from relatively easy fights, and too little from some hard ones. Ho hum. In terms of challenge I compare it favorably with DA:O - lots of stuff to show how good your character has become alongside moments where you're in some trouble.

My misgivings initially were largely graphical. Something about it reminded me of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which - while a great title - is now pretty seriously dated. Certain design elements too. Some of the early armor combinations I was running with made my character look a little bit like something out of Mad Max more than a fantasy visual. After a good solid bit of slogging through it though I began to appreciate the graphics more and more.

And finally, one thing that this game got mostly right: Using mostly British accents for the voiceovers in a medieval fantasy setting. Two Worlds 2 had these awful American accents that just feel out of place in a medieval-ish world, with the main male character sounding gruff with cooldudeguy 'tude voice like he should be in a GTA game. It just doesn't work. Was surprised to hear a few people criticizing the voice acting in this so harshly. Generally I thought it quite good.

I disagree. This game is too flawed. The difficulty setting is complete ♥♥♥♥. It consists of two options- 1.you kill an enemy with no problems at all, you feel too overpowered 2. enemy rapes you up the ♥♥♥ after you cleaned half of the map with option 1. It is so frustrating! I played many RPG games and I know how to evlolve in RPG genre, how to get stronger. So don't tell me that I should pull my hands out of my ♥♥♥! This game has too many difficulty spikes, too many bugs(enemies will stuck in two barrels). It is no underrated masterpiece. It is just the game that could have been done much better.

You clearly haven't played the RPG the way it's meant to be played. When I played Divinity II, I actually felt like I was progressing and evolving. At one point I would spam use Healing Potions to survive, and when I finally reached the end-game in the expansion, I was unstoppable, and being a warrior really made me feel that way. There's just so much to do on the game, and I explored every centimetre of the game.

I tell you now and bear this in mind: this game is a must-have if you are a true RPG fan. The lore is dazzling as well; it's beautiful in how the story is laid out.

This game makes me able to be a dragon before being a dragon is cool in Skyrim. So it's kinda a hipster dragon game. So it's cool. BUY IT!
