View Full Version : Converting to Steam?

Hi everyone,

I've been playing Age of Empires Online using Games for Windows LIVE.

I made a Windows Live account solely to play AoEO, but after it came out on steam - from which wallet I use much more that Microsoft Points, I really wanted to convert.

I uninstalled AoEO and everything with it, and then reinstalled it on Steam. But when I started it up, it still asked me to log on to my Windows Live account. (And when I tried to make a purchase, it would still put me through the Live Marketplace)

I was happy to restart from the top (New name and everything etc.) as I was planning to restart my City anyway,

Is there anyway to do this?

Much Appreciated,

You will probably have to create a new Game for Windows Live account and login with that on the Steam version. If you login with your old account, you'll have all your old account stats etc.

The steam version still has GFWL and you will still need to log in with it.
When you click on marketplace it should open up the steamstore.
All content is buyable though steam and your old stuff will still be there from pre-Steam days.

If you bought it on steam, just launch the game through steam and sign in with your LIVE tag (yep you still need to have a Xbox Live tag), and it will validate the content on that tag.
