View Full Version : Buying Into The Hype

I see a lot of people here saying best game ever or I'm buying it. What are the reasons you are buying it as a PC gamer or why do you feel the need to pre order it? For me the lack of support, broken promises, an xpack in a new box just isn't gonna do it for me. A hyped up trailer / poster just isn't gonna do it for me either or a "pre order" now to get an in game hat won't do it for me either. They have changed nothing and people still buy into the COD hype as if something change. There will be hackers day one in the game along with cramped maps, lack of support, kill streak rewards, crouched servers only, etc. I guess the COD series is leaning towards the younger crowd 7-15 or maybe I'm just to old or been around the block before. But you ain't getting this man to drop $60 on a game that has been the same since 2000.

By next week BO2 will have a trailer with Tim Tebow in it and all you kids with be drooling at the mouth. But then again why so suprised COD doesn't really take skill anymore and it hasn't since the days of CODUO! From the days of VCOD there is a community of me still out there wondering why this series has took the route. I truly miss the days of a really good FPS where is actually took skill to shoot.

What do you gain from strangers listening to you and not buying the game? COD never took skill, anyways. Few games do today. I'm here because I saw it on the main store page and got interested.

I actually liked some aspects of Black Op. Played MW3 with a friend and thought it was a joke. Heard some people praise MW2, so I bought it. That was another joke. At least Black Ops had dedicated servers, which helped prevent hacking. I won't throw down $60 on a pc game, though. By the time Activision drops this to a decent price, BO4 will be out.

"today" My point exactly. Yes the days of VCOD took skill you ever shoot the bar from COD those were the days. Today you get 7 kills and break out a chopper another two break out another one I mean really what the heck. It's sad to see where this game landed and that my friend is the gutter. But then again maybe I'm just to old......?

I don't know. I only played COD 2 (Hardened) and about 2 missions in COD 4. By the time COD came out, WW2 games were dropping left and right and I was so sick of them. I'd like to see a new Quake or Unreal Tournament come out.

I agree with OP. VCoD was the best one in the series and took some real skill! Today's CoD takes camper skills or cheats...
I too remember the days of VCoD when gaming was still something to be proud of. We were a tight group and laid down the rules as a group. You camp? You get kicked. You swear at other players? You get kicked. You cheat? You get kicked.
Today's lore is a lot simpler. You pay? Enjoy the game, we don't care what you do with it. Cheat, camp, do whatever you want.

Treyarch actually tries to care about the PC community. Okay okay, PC optimization for Black Ops was a pain, but we're talking DX11 this time. Besides, they're trying to push all the modes they have, not only just multiplayer, but campaign and Zombies too. They are TRYING to move the series forward contrary to IW, and it makes me mad people still make the same premises that the game will suck and it's "just like BF2142". Well if it is then GO PLAY IT, you're wasting your time posting here.

This comes from someone who's not gonna preorder the game, by the way. I'm still on the fence waiting whether they'll throw a bonus or not, if not I won't bother waiting for a sale.

Not too hyped about the multiplayer I don't have much expectations for this game or any of that at all. But I cant wait for Zombies. If 8 players is true it will be good. Though 8 sounds like a lot, just more room for my buddies and I to play I guess haha.

To be honest no CoD game has ever hyped me up, but I still love it.

I am considering this game not because of the hype, but because it looks somewhat interesting. It all just depends on the zombies and MP.

Black Ops is still way better than MW3.

WAY better.

No, its not. The only thing unique about Black Ops is that it offered more.

No it doesn't really. How does it offer more besides the dedi servers? Black Ops has zombies but MW3 has Spec Ops and then there's just multiplayer and single player. Oh, well I guess there's the battle recorder, but I never used it.

And even if it does offer more, that's still a good thing.

But besides that it has a better story (while still being a bit mediocre), the multiplayer maps are better and the multiplayer itself is just better in general than both MW2 and MW3.

Everyone has their own opinion though.

BLOPS was superior in every way to MW3... Weapon handling, map design, movement, audio, server implementation.

MW3 is the worst Big Dev FPS game ever made.

It is not even close to decent, much less a good title like BLOPS.

What is really sad is BLOPS2 will probably be more like MW3, than an improvement on what good things BLOPS did.

That is called, being popular. There are a few games out there that surely follow the same rules.

Glad you liked it, new COD's are way too easy for me, that's why I'll never play them (yeah I'm so humble :D)
