I thought I'd compile a thread with reviews about this game around the net for people that "might" be interested in buying take a look at before making their decision.
This is simply a collection of reviews from other people, I am not judging or commenting on any of them. It is simply here to provide opinions for potential buyers.

Reviews from users in this thread:
After finally being able to play after the 1.1GB patch (for a 190MB game) I must say that at this point in time, I still would not recommend this game to anyone. Right now, there is a huge gap between the game's feature list and what you actually get: a game with very shallow gameplay and a lot of bugs.
That said, this game's concept has potential and may develop into something special. Right now? It's not there yet.
I appreciate that this is a small indie developer.
I appreciate Spiral's participation in this forum and the effort to get things patched. Although in all honesty, I think the need for that big patch could have and should have been avoided.
I'm still not buying Spiral's explanation for the launch version being so buggy. If it was simply a directory name change, why was the patch five times larger than the original game?
If it was a directory name issue it was at Spiral where the wrong build directory was sent to Steam.
If it was just a directory issue, why did they need Epic to work on it for days?
I agree the game has potential.. i agree they are trying to fix it.
But anyone giving this game a 10 is flat out full of crap.
I am patient i can understand flaws and needing time.. but there is now way in hell that anyone in thier right mind would give this a 10 .
For me a 10 game is one of truly legendary status.
this game is fun and well worth the price and i have faith in it getting better though.
Will keep updating it if I find more.

Far from completely unplayable. It's a blast to play as it is. I'm pumped for the patch tomorrow to see what the game is really supposed to play like.

The core issues right now are with joining, hosting, and searching for games through the GUI / menus.
There's a guide here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2686345 about how to host and join games through the console. That method seems to be bypassing most or all of the major crashing issues at the moment.

Important to mention also the Dinosaur Waves and some A.I elements!

See, this is why David is the boss. I can't keep everything in my head at once. Just ask him - I'll send him the same question three or four times, having forgotten that he'd already answered. And that's with a friggin' text history of the day's conversations right in front of me.
On a completely unrelated note to my memory problems, if any of you folks are still in high school / college and considering turning out for pole vault in track & field, wear a helmet. :o

Thanks for eliminating any doubt in my mind that I need to skip this game. At least until they fix it

I don't know what are everyone opinions, but to me, this looks like a quick cash grab or maybe get more funds for their full feature game Orion:Prelude... The other reason for it, is that they are using the same assets in Dino Beatdown as in Prelude (according to PAX footage, and other trailers), so it's essentially the same game, but severely stripped down and costs less.
I really do hope that Orion:Prelude will be way better than this very primitive and simplistic product.

I think everyone doing reviews should at least wait until Version 1.3. Then give it a fair assessment. Kind of unfair to review it now.

look at it on the bright side they are lucky they are using v 1.1 and not v 1.0 or earlier which is what they normally use
they are also lucky that most game sites have not reviewed them to date.

Think very hard about that statement. The only fair assessment is that the game has long way to go, and in all likely hood it'll never reach that level of greatness before something comes along and trumps it.
If theres one thing complete games and mods both have in common is a time limit on interest. Once you've caught the attention of players, you only have so long before they lose interest, find a replacement, or it loses its relevance.
Dino hoards is not a novel idea, which puts Dino beat down at disadvantage. However, the only reason there is still so much interest in the concept is the fact most games that use it have been extremely shallow, or generally uninteresting game play.
So if Orion series wants to make a name for itself, they are going to need to do something that other developers would have a hard time doing better.

Which could take anywhere from, what, a month to never? All while this game is still up on the store page for everyone to buy. Consumers have a right to know what they're getting themselves into.

I think they should at least wait until version 1.3 to offer the game for sell, kind of unfair to take money from people assuming it is a finished product.

i don't think even after a few patches this game will have enough content to contend with whatever it's rivals are. i mean, it seems like they are about 35% done with making this vision a reality. three enemies? really?
i find the screenshots on the store page rather deceptive as well.
overall just still kinda feeling burnt about this purchase.
it's really a shame that software consumers have no rights to a refund.

I agree with that statement. Consumers do have a right to know. In regards to a metacritic score. They should wait until the patches come in. I hope your wrong and it doesn't take a month to fix this game up generally.

reviews happen when a game releases.
how often do you see games waited on, then tested after they are for sale..
then people saying hmm i think all the bugs are out we can review it now!
yeah, it doesn't happen. because there's a release date for a reason.
it's supposed to be ready for sale at that point.
the reviews at time of release couldn't be more fair.
it's the companies own fault for not product testing or doing a beta test.

Pretty much this. The game was released pre-maturely.

Looks like another Nuclear Dawn game, a mod at one time that decided to charge money for it. And now it's dead...:D

Well, Nuclear Dawn was a very decent game, I just think it was priced a bit high so no one really picked it up.

I wouldn't say the release was a tad buggy, it was a mess and I only hope the devs rectify that for the next release.

I'm sure people already know this, but it's a "seed" game, or what ever.
That doesn't give the excuse for a buggy release, but it's a work in progress. Some reviews fail to mention this and that's not a fair thing to do.

I view this game in the same way I view Counter Strike or any other game that grew from a mod. If you were to look back at CS on launch, it was a much different game than it is now.. Developers that started as modders don't release a "finished" product. They know that a game is never really finished until people stop playing it. It has to constantly evolve to what people are demanding at the time.
