View Full Version : Forgotten Hope 2 mod call to arms

05-08-2012, 10:20 AM
Several models and weapons from this mod, and including stuff from battlefield 2 vanilla, battlefield 1942, and day of defeat source have been stolen by this commercial game "Army Rage", please any BF fan out there help to spread the word about this game and tell that it is not safe to put money in it, as they will be closed!

Hi fellow FH fans and FH players!

As you might have heard of, very recently a commercial game was released titled "Army Rage" (www.armyrage.com), which consists of a large amount of assets (weapons, vehicles, textures, sounds etc) taken from Forgotten Hope 2 without our permission. The publisher "Yacuba Games" and developer "Tuyasoft" are thus illicitly profiting from the creativity of the Forgotten Hope developers. We have evidence documented here: http://www.fhmod.org/armyrage/

We have contacted the CEO of Yacuba Games (Delzar Khalaf), but he has generally ignored our requests. From the onset he has responded with denial in spite of obvious evidence, then falsely claimed it was removed. In a new version released a few days ago, they have tried to cover up more of our material in an apparent attempt to hide their origins.

As of now, we are in contact with various service providers to have "Army Rage" taken off-line, but this may take some time, and in the mean while, unwitting gamers may spend their money on a game that eventually may be shut down. We're hoping to inform them that, for now, "Army Rage" is an unsafe investment.

So, the FH team needs your help. We ask you to post comments, e-mails, reviews, tweets, youtubes, reddits, slashdots; in your own wording and to your own discretion, what you think about this matter. We hope that, as result, no informed gamer will waste their money on the cheap knockoff title that "Army Rage" strives to be.

Please note that while Yacuba Games and Tuyasoft are engaging in illegal activities, we will NOT accept personal attacks on individuals involved with these companies. Do not attempt anything illegal. Shame them, expose them, let them know how you feel, but remember that "two wrongs do not make a right". Keep things honest and respectable.

First of all, what does this have to do with us? Even if they did steal it like you say, so what! If it's a good game then it's a good game and let the companies sort it out in court. You can't copyright an actual object from WW2.

And most importantly, you know that WW2 isn't a fictional event right? You can only make objects in WW2 look like objects from WW2. Oh no, this game has the same looking gun as ours....it's ok we'll just make ours pink and made out of wheat grass. Your complaining that they are using the same cars? Really? And the same scopes, sunset (how the hell do you make a sunset look different than another sunset??), landing boat, sandbags, window shutters, town? So the textures look a bit similar, so what, do you expect other games to use different textures of REAL objects?

Metal guns are made out of metal textures. Wood is made out of wood textures! The textures in the examples aren't duplicates. They just look similar because they are the exact same in the actual WW2.

This is a really weird post.

Well the models are made by someone and even if it's based on some real life model he spent some times on it.

Doesn't prove that they ripped them off of other games. Just because they look the same (based on real objects) doesn't mean that they were copied. How do you make a metal/wood texture not look like someone else's interpretation of a metal/wood texture? Hoe do you make a REAL LIFE car not look like someone else's REAL LIFE car?

The game looks like crap anyway so it's not going to do well anyway, plus it's a free game (scam, pay more for extras or your experience won't be as fun) so if it goes under it's because it's crap.

CowHide, there's a difference between looking the same and being the same, i.e. identical. In this case it's the latter, it's the exact same texture, not just one that looks similar. They are using others work, not attempting to imitate it. Hell, even one of the textures from Army Rage has a signature from the original author from 2003. It doesn't get anymore blatant than that.

To the OP: I hope you get this all sorted out and they have to pull the project or pay out royalties. Stealing others work is unacceptable, always.

Upon taking a closer look at the examples I see where the OP is coming from now and I understand. Army Rage looks crap anyway so I don't think they will do well. If they have the evidence they should get a lawyer and see what can come of it. FH2 looks pretty good tho. and I think I'll download and give it a go.

I know this has nothing to do with the steam forum but i wanted to spread the word since it is my favorite mod and it kills me to know that the devs that give up their free time to not win one penny are being robbed!

This has happened before, a chinese company stoled several stuff from fh2, bf1942, bf2, cod2 and even Brothers in arms, but all their servers went down, and with it, their "game" : http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/fancygoal/
