Hey , i just bought the map pack and played it for a while and then decided to got back and play some of the old maps again so i disabled the DLC pack and join a server but the thing is everytime i load my game full it just takes me back to the menu telling me that my "files are diffrent from server" . Anyone have the same problem or know how to fix this?

I'm willing to bet its with the severs without the DLC and you can't cross over even if you disable the DLC.

I'm getting the same error. Verifying game files and cache right now.

That's about my luck though. Can't find enough people for a game with DLC enabled, and get an error message when I disable the DLC.

yeah it works again after verifying game cache.

If you are trying to join a dedicated server - not all of the servers currently running have been updated.

If you are getting this error when trying to play matchmaking, the host will not have updated his game cache. Some players don't log off Steam and so they don't update their files.

What you said in that post is rubbish. The error is produced by the game when the host's files have not been updated. I.e. they haven't applied the patch yet.

This makes sense. Thanks.

Just leave DLC enabled , i did that and all maps work , the old and the new ones but when you disable you can't play the old ones where this error message comes up.

Doesn't work for me. Tried verifying the game cache, worked for the first match, then did it again.

This is getting old quick. I verified my game files and after that it worked, for 2 matches. Now I've got the "files different from server error" for 14 matches in a row (yes, I'm persistent).

That's fine, m8. So my theories were off. My fix wasn't. Did you try it?

And, really? "Rubbish" in both posts? :)

I didn't exactly denounce a deity, good sir. Was trying to offer help.

Don't worry it'll be fixed in the next patch in 3 months time.

I guess its a general problem , everyone has to verify their game cache so we all have the latest client updates.
But when i disable DLC , error message appears , and when i re-enable it , both new maps and old ones work fine.

Seems DLC related. Every time it happens now I just switch to the Collection 1 playlist, works fine. But, if I want to play any stock maps I have to quit out and verify cache again with Steam.

Right-click MW3 MP in your library -> Properties. On the Local Files tab click Verify Integrity of Game Cache...

The most it took me to get a game going yesterday was 2 minutes. Others were near instant.

Seriously just have some patience or switch the game modes (i play objective playlist, since there is no more stand alone Team Defender).

deleted my read only config file all things working fine now.new file is now read only.haven't gotten the message again played 6 games.so if your config is set to read only it may be causing an issue since the file cannot update.again it worked for me.:)

Well, seems like I'm more screwed than that.

I haven't bought the dlc and I keep getting the message.
Verifying doesn't help and my file isn't set to read only.

Awesome.

Serves all you right for supporting Activision and their anti-Christ beliefs and operation.

Jokes aside, why did you guys think for one moment that buying DLC would help anything?

Yes this is totally constructive and helps solve the problem which is presented.Very cool of you to wish bad upon others when you yourself are prolly..Lets not get into that.
