View Full Version : Who's the most beautiful in-game character you know?

markcocjin

It has to be an in-game model. No CG or art renders or screenshots from full motion videos unless it's from an in game engine.

Male or Female.

And by beautiful, I don't mean technically impressive. I mean artistically beautiful like how you would see a person.

If your type are the ones that look like prostitutes, we won't judge you.

It would really help if you can link to an image of them as well.

I know there's a lot of great looking models out there but at least give us something from the top of your head.

I haven't played my Witcher or Witcher 2 from my Steam backlog so I have to ask. Is that an in-game model? Because we're looking for the most beautiful in-game models.

Yes that's her ingame model. Notice the low poly mesh work and low res textures?

Hard to say, since I've never really looked at game characters like that.

Are we talking "beautiful" as in beautifully done models or as in what the model looks like?

Beautiful like a beautiful person. Not technically impressive like a well made and complex model.

The OP made it seem like he meant beautiful as in sexually attractive but then he posted a picture of a spider, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I think he means a percieved deeper beauty, so not necessarily physical beauty but something that you think was particularly well-done to achieve a certain effect

And her personality really created the character for me though the design was also very well done (for the time):

One of my favorite females in a game is Ghost Widow in City of Heroes. I will let her stomp all over me just to get some good screenshots.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v309/lethe-gray/coh/ghostwidow.jpg

Also from CoH is Arbiter Sands, who has some of the best dialog in the game. :)

http://paragonwiki.com/w/images//7/76/Arbiter_Sands.jpg

Of course I also just love Paxton Fettel (http://lethe-gray.deviantart.com/art/Paxton-Fettel-Wallpaper-197508276) to death. Though I'm more partial to the Fear 1 version of his clothes, I do love his expressions in Fear 3.

I guess my tastes have changed over time.

Twenty years ago, I'd have said Blaze (http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/111935-streets-of-rage-2-genesis-screenshot-blaze-s-flying-kicks.gif) from Streets of Rage or Chun-Li (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_EXgDI8DeN_E/Royaro9x-RI/AAAAAAAAAws/Ljh6rj6FI7k/s400/Street+Fighter+II+Turbo+-+Hyper+Fighting+%28U%29+%5B%21%5D+0003.jpg) from Street Fighter.
Ten years ago, I'd have said Kasumi (http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/signaturepics/sigpic36714_3.gif) from DoA2 or Lulu (http://cdn.overclock.net/d/de/ded09d6f_Lulu.png) from FFX.
Now, probably Zoey (http://sicklebrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/2011-07-14_00016.jpg) from L4D, Fiona (http://img0.mmo.mmo4arab.com/news/2010/09/26/vindictus/fiona2.jpg) from Vindictus, or Poison Ivy (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111125151916/batman/images/f/f2/ArkhamAsylum_Poison_Ivy4.jpg) from Arkham Asylum.

And as for fantasizing, what's sad is that people must find a personal, sexual interest in something to find it beautiful. I've seen and have been amazed by dozens of male nude photographs, am I homosexual for that? I've loved many landscape photographs as well, do I fantasize about trees? get freaking serious.

Guys I really don't own those games so could you show me what their in-game models look like? I see the edges of the circular bits and I do not see any joints which means either they have millions of polygons and run real-time on a supercomputer or those are CG renders.

The protagonist (Quote) from Cave Story is quite beautiful, artistically. There's a sort of simplicity in his design and limited colour palette that just... works. Another more unusual example of beauty might be Sasha and Milla from Psychonauts, but only when you have them together. Sasha's blocky, angular style contrasts well with Milla's smoother, rounded design.

Also, pretty much any character from the Wind Waker is visually appealing, again mainly due to the game's unusual style.

I think that creative and unusual beauty is probably more important in games than just people who look hot. I mean, any game can have loads of succubi or hotties; that's not difficult, after all.

Its funny how this is such a taboo subject for some people. There's very little difference between the pixels of a game character and the pixels of that "actress" that people flog their meat to.

One day, the two will probably be indistinguishable.

Heh yeah especially considering the actresses have plastic boobies, fake lips, eyes, noses, botox injections, the fat sucked out and pumped into their buttocks and calves, dyed hair, not to mention all the makeup they cover themselves with, the difference between a pixel babe and a movie babe really is rather small :)

I would have to vote for Alyx Vance, great character and great voice actor :)

Or for that matter any of the vocaloids that are actually doing concerts. Totally pixellated. :D

Consider me another vote for Alyx Vance :D They made her beautiful without having her without her clothes on...

There's also the weird feeling of realizing that Freeman's about six foot tall and Alyx and I are probably the same height. I think she might be an inch taller or half inch taller than I am.

Even ignoring the fact that photos these days are 'shopped to a shadow of their original selves, people have been striving to make beautiful human figures in art for centuries upon centuries. Is it "sad" to look at a sculpture of Aphrodite and be impressed by its form and beauty?

Most definitely not. I don't think its sad for people to appreciate the sexuality of any art form, including game characters.

I think that many people aren't very honest with themselves when they comment that threads like this are "perverted." God forbid these people's significant others bring toys into the bedroom, their head would probably explode (no pun intended).

Any comic book hero or heroine is blasted completely out of proportion, yet readers aspire to be those heroes (in their mind) and want to be with those heroines (in their min...pants...um).

I forgot to mention Adam Jensen but I haven't actually played DEHR, only seen clips and watched over my friend's shoulder. He's a six-pack of yum. Though from what I've seen, David Sarif (http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Sarif_1480.jpg) is more my speed.

Not really, more sad to see like a homeless child eating cat food. Stuff that you shouldn't see ever.

So you have never thought to yourself, "gee, the developers of this game really worked overtime to make this model look good! And the voice acting really fits!"

Because if you're thinking that we're 'kids eating cat food' you're sadly mistaken. We're taking what the developers have given us, there's a compelling reason they gave us these pretty people.

We want them. We want to see them, be like them, be around them, sometimes shoot them in the head. The only thing sad about it is that some of the developers seem to believe that antigrava♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and wasp-waists are "pretty" rather than "hideously disturbing". But then look at shows like Jersey Shore - THAT there is sad. Very, very sad.

I'd far rather see a compellingly animated and well-acted video game character get a following than any show featuring such 'real' people.

I look more into the environment and immersion for that kind of thing. Characters are characters but don't hold such meanings to me in games. I might find a character funny, mean, smart, but of a thing of beauty and/or lust over never.

You realize that there is a difference between acknowledging that a model is nice to look at and pounding your pudding to an in-game character, right?

So youre saying that you've never thought that a character model was pleasing to look at or had nice features?

When you came up with the title of this thread, you should've used a word other than "beautiful" if you wanted models that aren't human women.

There are plenty of beautiful men in video games. Most guys are just a bit embarrassed to admit it, and the other guys probably feel a bit shallow for finding them attractive (I know I do, at least).

They're technically not characters, but the weird flying whales (http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs51/f/2009/306/9/e/Flying_whale_thingies_by_DrawingRulez.jpg) from Aion are pretty beautiful non-humans (but what isn't beautiful in that friggin' game?).

Aside from that, there's Mokka (http://mv.titney.org/pics/characters/cafe.jpg) from Magical Starsign. Male, mineral, non-human and an example of unusual beauty in both character and design. He can even fall in love with the main character, if female (though it never amounts to anything).

I am aware of this. I'm just saying because most people (not including myself) associate "beauty" with attraction of some form.

Speaking of beautifully designed creatures, I find FFX's Sin to look excellent. I also like the various versions of Omega/Ultimate Weapons in the FF series.

If you liked that, you're gonna like this (http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/7/79952/2106226-queen_of_pain_by_kunkka_d4mib8a.jpg) as well. This (http://www.cyborgmatt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Dota2_QOP_Portrait.jpg) is the in-game model.

They're basically succubi. And this (http://cosplaypro.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/lindze2.jpg) is the most perfect Morrigan cosplay shot of all time.

Shepard is definitely hot. The default model is nicely balanced, still has that 'broad chested' look without being cartoonish. His eyes are a little small for my tastes, I think. But in general those ME models are all good.

I agree. The ME models are pretty good, overall. It's kind of disappointing though that most NPCs share the same body/outfit.

The only different body I noticed is the teenage girl in ME3 at the Docks. She has a smaller bust than the other women in the game. People like Chakwas, Dr. Michel, and others seem to use the same body though I may be mistaken.

Another male model I've always liked is Agent 47. He could be any guy, really.

I really wish game devs would stop with outrageously disproportionate bodies. Or, at the very least, give different body choices (and make NPCs use different bodies), like Elder Scrolls modders do. I religiously use body replacers in Oblivion, and most have the option to pick cup sizes from A to HH or something. I usually set them to B's, C's, or maybe D, but sadly, it usually affects all female NPCs. That's something that, to me, is actually kind of immersion breaking in RPGs (or any game in particular), bodies that don't deviate.

I think many artists working on these models seem to forget that women have internal organs. Those pesky things take up space under their breasts, filling up that 'below the ribs, above the hipbones' thing. The 'waist'. I mean... Stalkers in HL2 don't need them. Therefore their wasp waist is just fine.

*shudder*

... Shudder inducing as well is that characters for some of us (many, I suspect, but most who won't admit it) are intensely sexual but frightening at the same time. Pyramid head for instance, who is absolutely ripped and has that insanely girded swagger. And yet... yikes. Paxton Fettel walking through the Armacham lobby with his motorcycle jacket and "I Own Everything I See" stalking through and then *eating* a guy complete with 'bone slurping' goodness... And yet he's an amazingly hot - horrible, awful person. The 'bad boy' thing to an extreme.

Perhaps it's that over-exaggeration of the feminine traits on game women working the same way- do guys really want hookers with swords/guns? IS that hot, or IS it scary as heck and you just want a thrill added to that fantasy?

I attribute it to old mythology and folk tales mainly.

The best example would be succubi or incubi. Demons who use their sexual appeal to entrap a victim, and use the sexual energy to feed off of. That's all I can figure. That, it's just game developers appealing to the teenage boy crowd because they know skin is the next best thing to sex.

But it reminded me of another "Oh lord." moment in ME3. ME2 seemed to focus on Miranda's ♥♥♥. Still does in ME3, but they decided to give EDI, a robot, massive camel toe. v.v
