View Full Version : Version 1.03 Patch - 5/11/2012 ( Dedicated Servers + World Editor )

Hey guys,

I've just uploaded the latest version of Gettysburg: Armored Warfare (v1.03) to the Steam servers, it should go LIVE later today.

Major changes include the release of the stand alone World Editor, and the release of the dedicated Game Server binaries. You can download the v1.03 dedicated server binaries here - http://www.armoredwarfare.com/Gettysburg_Armored_Warfare_GameServer_103.rar ( you don't need to own the game to run a server ).

In addition to that I've added a new gameplay mode you guys requested [ 1860s Only Deathmatch ], added custom map/gameplay rotation cycles to the dedicated servers, made a big rendering optimizations, and lots of other stuff :-)

I want to record a video of the new World Editor features before I go to sleep...if I do that I'll post the link here :-)

Here is the full change-log for Gettysburg: Armored Warfare v1.03 -

- Reduced amount vehicle is slowed upon collision with fences.
- Fixed bug with zeppelins cannons all firing at once.
- Added check so fence/wall destruction sounds don't get played multiple times ( ie: when hitting two fences at once ).
- Added road placement tool to World Editor.
- Added 1860s Only Deathmatch gameplay mode.
- Made detailed self-shadowing of vehicles a config option [ was causing random lag in APC, Zeppelin, USS Cairo, etc. ]
- Improved cavalry/horse fence/wall jump animation.
- Stand-alone World Editor added into release [ WorldEditor.exe in main 'ArmoredWarfare' game directory ].
- Fixed potential crash bug when starting Offline Practice mode.
- Added some additional safety-checks in the initialization code.
- Added server auto-execute config file, "Default_Server.cfg" which get's executed when the game server is started.
- Added Server-side map rotation cycle, edit 'MapRotation.txt' file to change order.
- Added 'next_map' server-side command to switch maps to the next in the server's map rotation.
- Fixed server finder scroll bar/window once and for all!
- Dedicated Server binaries v1.03 released.

Yup, it uploads the maps to the Steam Cloud now, but I want to create a way to share/download/browse them in-game and server-side...that is kind of complicated. Plus I realized I need a way to verify the integrity of the maps client side (meow). Once those things are done we should be good.

Hmmm, well I'd probably want to wait until after I fix all the issues people have with the game. Also after I release my free Desert Warfare Mod for the game [ basically changes it into modern combat with T-76 tank v Abrams, and Terrorist v SEAL ]. That will show people how to mod the game, plus it could be kind of fun :-D

What! The editor is still disabled for me. Do I need to re-enable it? I was looking around in the files, any there was a separate exe. That it?

You sure you've installed the update? Mine hasn't been updated yet.

I have - it is a sepearate exe, but have enable it by changing configs.
But how do I play my maps?

And Danny, could you also do some sort of tutorial for hosting a server? I don't know ♥♥♥♥ how to change the server name, settings etc.

The world editor looks good, just a few questions though.

Recall when I said the first map I would make would be an all-water map for a naval battle? well:

1.) some building floated to the top of the water, how do I remove them?

2.) the selection menus dont seem to cooperate with me, how do I add spawn points?

3.) I noticed a section that lets me add the maps to the Steam Workshop, dose that work at this time?

Dan, did you consider my suggestion for the world editor? (placing buildings with the left mouse, holding it and dragging changing the direction and right mouse deleting)

Yea, I don't want people to corrupt their client side maps so it just uploads them to the Cloud right now. I will write up a tutorial for the servers and editor this weekend hopefully.

Right now just type help into the server console, it gives you pretty good decriptions.

You can still enable the editor ingame by editing config.cfg or opening the console ~ and typing gv_enable_editor 1 ... That will give you the option off the main menu.

That does sound fun.

When you get the editor out and how to video, maybe I can get started on my soldiers vs zombies mod going. ;P

Have not seen Dan around since the weekend release..
Those ASAP docs comming Dan? Server and Editor?
You can feel free to drop those PORT FORWARD numbers here just to get US going..

Lol, I can tell you but it's just like me telling somebody how to hack the game.

It needs further refinement for easier user implementation.

Well, nows the time to care for those that purchased your title.. add in JOIN BY IP! this way it don't matter if the Master server goes down and never come back up.. WE the customers will still be able to join games.."IF" you add a Join by IP address.

Obviously, the server must also be able to run on it's own without the master attachment.. IF null then run as IP.. check back later for master..

anyways... Poor state of affairs .. reflects on Publisher and creator..

Thanks for the ports..for whatever reasoning..

Patch coming tommorow? Dan, I know that you are working, BUT FIRST PRIORITY MUST BE THE MAP EDITOR AND JOIN BY IP.

You add polish to a shoe, but the shoe is normally complete when you polish it. Therefore, Function > Polish. (Sorry about poor analogy)

People need to realise that Paradox has provided funding for the servers and other things. Paradox has just tried to make a buck off somebody elses work and now that the game is not doing much in terms of players it isn't worth the cost. They made a quick dollar of us at the start and leave Dan with the fall out. Shame Paradox.

Well for Paradox.you just watch for their next releases and avoid them till your sure they "work".. Unfortunate as it is.. Dan is also one to "avoid" on the next release.. till your sure you get what is offered.. People in Software will say anything these days.. and we as the consumer are just plain stuck in the end.. backend in this case.

We can take everything Dan says with a grain of salt.. Such as documentation ASAP for Servers and Editor..
myself, I like games unsalted..and ready to play.

Congrats on making a great game with great potential. Finally a game that has a dev that listens to suggestions. Cant wait for new vehicles!

Open concole and type: get_to_the_choppa

it's almost there...
