Very much worth it. Fun, action packed arena shoot em up that looks and plays very fluidly even on low end pc's. Challenging difficulty levels, competitive scoring system, global leaderboards, 89 levels of fun. Get it :)

The store page confuses me. Does this game have only local multiplayer or online multiplayer as well? I see in the description local multiplayer, but the right side bar says co-op and local co-op which would imply more than just local.

It's local co-op only. It has separate leaderboards for local co-op players.

Thanks for clarifying. It looked pretty cool on console and it had online co-op, but I don't see myself playing this with any of my local friends. I guess I'm going to pass and maybe check out the console release some time.

I agree that this game is definitely worth it. The levels are well designed, and different enough from each other to keep it interesting. The difficulty curve fits nicely, and there's a challenge for players at any level. To top it off, the music adds to the game and is sufficiently dark to set the scene.

Unless Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutant_Storm_Reloaded) is wrong the Xbox only has local coop as well and that's the way I remember. I have both versions.

Multiplayer and Xbox Live gameplay
The game also has a two-player cooperative mode played locally on the same Xbox 360, which is available on both Adventure and Tally modes. The game maintains its difficulty in cooperative mode by decreasing the number of extra lives per player and limiting the range of the basic laser weapon. High scores for Adventure Mode and Tally Mode, both in single-player and two-player, are posted on leaderboards on Xbox Live.

Additionally going forward, the backwards compatibility of XBLA titles is still unknown at this time so I fail to see why people would invest in XBLA over PC.

The game is one of the best twin stick shooters in the genre.

Ah, I was mixing up this game with its sequel, Mutant Storm Empire. That's the game I thought of when I first heard the title. I'm definitely interested in the sequel.

Also, about your comment on XBLA versus PC, I honestly don't typically play a game more than once or twice all the way through, so having the game available far into the future doesn't matter to me. Even then many PC games have their servers taken down as well, so their functionality is limited as well; though you can work around more easily with virtual LAN's and whatnot. Anyway, I would prefer to play the game on PC, but it's a matter of timing more than anything for me.

-Wait, how is it local co-op only? It states Co-op as well which usually implies not local only.

-The description says local multiplayer. Multiplayer != coop.

There's single player game and two player game available on the main menu. When you select two player game, game mode(adventure/tally) and difficulty level it spawns you with two ships on the screen. It's local co-op only.

Mutant Storm: Reloaded is a terrific duel-stick shooter that still holds up well with the competition. I bought it back in 2005 on XBLA. It will take some doing to get all 12 Steam Achievements. It starts out easy and then gets really wild as you progress through the levels.

I'm surprised that it took 6+ years for this to appear on Steam.

Have both Astro Tripper and Alien Zombie Megadeath on PC from these people... Both are terrible games with no mouse control.. Does this game have mouse control to play like a regular twin-stick with keyboard/mouse?

-Wow, that is misleading.

Why you would want to use a mouse with either of those games is beyond me, and they aren't terrible at all.

Regardless, can you answer his question? Does this game support keyboard/mouse? I prefer to play twin-stick shooters, like BeatHazard, with keyboard/mouse controls.

It does let you use a mouse and keyboard. Having played the game a bit, although it is kinda fun, its a bit annoying, as the enemies kill you in one hit, and there's so many of them that one inevitably gets around your fire or you run into the indestructible bullets they shoot. So, might be worth it, might not be, depends on you.

What? They are one of the best arcade like shooters/shoot em ups this gen and are meant to be played with a pad where you have left stick for movement and right stick for shooting.

However, you can use keyboard and mouse in Mutant Storm Reloaded if that's what you prefer.

That's where the fun part begins, game offers you 7 difficulty levels. If you crank it up to the maximum which is black belt you get loads of points but the risk is huge as well. I love challenge

I generally don't like games like this - didn't like Robotron - but all the good reviews have me considering it.

Well designed game, makes you want to see the next level ^^

And as said on a previous post, it gets 7 difficulties level so it's very challenging.

For the price it is today it's a good pick.
