View Full Version : de_testbase Progress and Feedback Thread.

Hello everyone. aM here.

When I got access to the GO SDK, I started making a map almost

immediately. I have some experience with the Source SDK and i tought i

could do a pretty decent job with a GO map.

So far it is called de_testbase, but I am open for name

changes/suggestions for names :)
The map is a Bomb plant/defuse map, and there are 2 bomb sites.

The idea is that the one bomb site is a place where they repair cars,

and the other bomb site is for storing materials, and this little

workshop lies in the middle of a village, repairing incoming cars and

trucks.

Please note, i have not started optimizing yet, also not started doing

the skyboxes, or player clips. (some player clips are done, but they are

bad)

Looks OK. A bit too crammed for my taste!

Some of those rooms it looks like you can barely navigate: http://bildr.no/view/1182900 (the electrical prop on the left looks a bit out of place btw)

http://bildr.no/view/1182890 too many vehicles, or not orderly enough (do they repair cars or just stick them where they can? lol) and the texture on the ground feels undetailed and awkward to me. (so does the window on the left.)

Ground texture there is wrong, and the decal is leaking; using an overlay would fix it http://bildr.no/view/1182892 (the displacements could be better if you split the surface and smoothed it a bit)

http://bildr.no/view/1182892 the texture on the doorway shouldn't continue past the frame, you should split it

EDIT: also http://bildr.no/view/1182890 inside the truck, I don't get how the fork thing got there but OK ^^

I'll test your layout later in-game :)

Take what he said and run with it, story-board the ♥♥♥♥ out of the level, give reason for every possible moving object (obviously not fixed objects lool)

But looks delish, im jealous of you getting the beta/SDK

most of the stuff kinanischka said have been fixed. but something i dont understand is:

Crap, yeah sorry I pasted the wrong image there, and I don't have the right link anymore... If I launch the map again I'll take a new shot.
