Ok I want a healthy discussion. I think we generally agree that Ubisoft has had some poor presence on the PC platform thanks to their DRM. But they have learned the error of thier ways, or so I've read, that they won't be pushing always on DRM.

But I want to talk about their games, some of them are on sale right now and I'm excited to get them. Which ones do you love or hate? Just talking about the game itself, gameplay, story?

I like the Splinter Cell series, their latest, Conviction I actually enjoyed quite a bit. It feels different from the previous games but I'm ok with it.

The 'new' Prince of Persia I enjoyed but I hve never played the old ones, my family PC couldn't handle it back when I was a kid. I tried to get into it but it just feels too dated for me. Though I know the series is great.

Far Cry, well I'll be trying it out once the price drops further. How is this game?

Ghost Recon, never played it, I remember the old Rainbow Six series though. Are thry from Ubisoft too? Are you excited about the new Future Soldier game? It seems interesting to me though I'll wait for the reception on the game til I get it.

So, do you like Ubisoft games? (Don't need to talk about the DRM, we all know it sucks.) :p

Well, I plan on buying the following (if they go 50-75% off)

- Far Cry Pack (1 & 2)
- Rainbow Six Collection
- Rayman: Origins
- Prince of Persia Pack
- Brothers in Arms Pack

And games I'd buy if i had any cash left.
- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs™
- Rayman Raving Rabbids™
- Driver series (if they go 50-75% off and i have cash left)

I have little/no intrest in GRAW, i had them all on xbox.

Far cry 2 is lots of fun. A true open world game. And only 6 months until the delicious Far Cry 3! Wooh! Can't wait.

Driver San Fran is pretty awesome. Love that it just totally dives in to the absurd concept.

Far Cry, the original, is really good. The second one, not so much. Rayman Origins is a complete gem.

From the Ubi games I have played I would definitely recommend:

The older Prince of Persia games. The Sands of time for it's better acrobatics and puzzles and The Warrior Within for it's combat. The third one I never finished because I got stuck on some boss -.- (This was a long time ago!) But I found the switching between forms to be a bit irritating. Prince of Persia 4 is also not bad but nothing like any of the others, it's more about travelling and collecting stuff. It's extremely easy, quite repetitive and looks gorgeous.

Beyond Good and Evil, doubt it will be on sale but it's excellent. Very solid action adventure title, one from Ubi's glory days.

Assassins Creed 1 and 2 IMO are great too, the 2nd may or may not still suffer stupid-horrible-awful always online DRM. They may have taken it out. AC2 is the best of the lot, Brotherhood just tried to add too much on top and there are some really lazy, badly designed and frustrating missions. Assassins Creed 2 is the best of the bunch IMO but I can't speak for Revelations as I've not played it.

Far Cry 2 I did not enjoy, I can't remember the reasons as to why but it was not fun.

I might add more if I remember which other Ubi games I've actually played :P

Prince of Persia sands of time was a great game. Don't know if you ever played the original Prince of Persia, it was a 2d platformer, but the Sands of Time captured the feel of the original prince of persia game for me.

The original Far Cry is the only game I'd recommend. If it is developed by Ubisoft it is a console port. Try some of the games they published developed by someone else.

I'd highly recommend the Assassin's Creed games, I've completed all 4 and loved them a lot.

The Settlers 7. It should've been a *lot* more fun. But its wrapped up inside some kind of Ubisoft framework that provides services like SteamWorks. That game should've been done in SteamWorks, its not much fun launching into that mini-environment, then launching the game.

I don't really care so much about DRM (although I probably would if I was playing on a laptop in a mobile way.) But I don't like all the extra junk wrapped around the games.

Also, if I see RUSE at 75% I'll probably grab it. Zeit2 looks interesting too, but those little games might not get that kind of focus during the sale.

Oh yeah I forgot about the Assassin's Creed games. I love that series, concept and story is pretty good though it got stale with the last Ezio games. I'm glad AC3 is going to offer something totally different, gameplay, setting wise.

Rayman's Origins I'll probably get when it get cheaper, how long is the game? Is it around a decent 8-10 hours?

How are the strategy games? Ruse, World in Conflict and Tom Clancy's Endwar? I used to love strategy games of old, Warcraft I & II, Starcraft and especially Red Alert. I was able to play a few of the early 2000 strategy games but am totally missing out on the more recent ones. I got Company of Heroes and heard it's the best of the genre, I still have to give it a go.

I also remember the Heroes series, last I played was Heroes III and a litte IV, haven't played the recent ones at all, might probably give VI a try when it get's cheaper than it is now.

I will also give Beyond Good and Evil a shot after hearing about it a lot.

Is there a list somewhere where I can see what games do not have the infamous Ubisoft-DRM?

I agree with this list, though I would put Assassins Creed 1 at the God Tier. It really was the first game of its kind at that time. Prince of Persia (the 2008 release) was rather well done I think and I'd put it in the good category. Far Cry 1 I'd put in the God tier as well, because it was another title that was the first of its kind. Is it dated now... sure. But still a looker.
