View Full Version : WARNING - Aerocache Fatality

The John Rogers Storage aerocache is guarded by invisible walls. Approach slowly and with extreme caution.
EDIT: Scratch that... The wall goes all the way around and it's also got an invisible roof. Do not approach at all.
You have been warned.
(Devs? That is one impressively large collision box, BTW. Completely surrounds the entire area.)

Yes, I also realized it! The entire area is surrounded by a collision box. The Flight-Team should test aerocache attainability before releasing them;)

? I just grabbed it. Maybe they fixed it. Silly Aerocache, dumps you right on top of it.:)

you can still grab the cache by flying a few feet above it, but the collision box problem is indeed as if many buildings are surrounded by very big ones, not only the storage facility of J. Rogers' field...

I did get it by landing on top of the invisible box and taxiing over the cache. But still, that should be addressed. The box extends horizontally well beyond the tents, so be sure not to stray off the taxiway if heading to runway 4R in the future. You don't have to get far off the pavement to hit it.

I got it by flying over at 100 ft. I tried walking to it but couldn't get close. Thanks for the warning.

You have discovered our invisible block technology speak not of what you have seen! Actually thanks for the report, I'll send it up.

Must be some pretty important stuff in those tents for you to put up a force-field. Is that where you hide the future DLC planes?
While you're at it, Hangars 101 through 105 at Kaneohe have diagonal invisible walls inside them toward the south end. Made my fly-through attempt rather painful.
Really nice job on them, other than that, though. I worked in 104 and 105 for years and you even got the internal structure correct. The custom textures for the big numbers are much appreciated!

I knew it! After Alaska MS is releasing a Klingon Bird of Prey with a cloaking device!! And it will get that curvature of the earth aerocache! :D

umm.. if you were reading the hints that come up when the game loads, it tells you that you *cannot* get to an aerocache by flying to it.. sometimes you have to land and walk.. lol

There are A WHOLE LOT of such places Loki (and others). It is actually no secret I'm afraid :D
Examples ? Just by memory : try to fly near terminal buildings in H'lulu, you will have the same super big crashboxes... Some place you can land in the air, far above buildings :D Many warehouses you still can't get under or pass through them, try Dillingham, you can't park your GA plane under the designated concrete parking, but you can land on top (many vids on the ouebe) !

Then there's those two weird hangars in Honolulu -- side-by-side hangars you can't walk through because of low platforms, but you can fly through. :)

Yes, I had to fly to get this one too. At first I tried to walk to it from where the plane spawned, then I tried to find a way around the invisible wall, and then I just gave up and flew 'near' it... ;)

I swooped in and nabbed the aerocache with the RV, but two other guys were having the hardest time trying to get there on foot. I didn't understand why until I realized there was an invisible wall. I briefly thought of reporting it, but it seemed like too much work. The lazy, it runs deep in me.
Apparently, all I had to do was post it here.
Thanks to RoboRay for not being so lazy. ;)

its a low rating cache... you dont need to get that close to tag it....

No, you don't need to get that close. But not knowing the invisible barrier is there, it's quite easy to dive down too low (but still well above ground level) and crash into it.
That is the issue.
