On the cutscene after the boat mission where you're at the fathers apartment, it gets about 3/4 of the way through the cut scene and the image freezes but audio carries on until the end of the cut scene and then im left with no audio and a frozen picture, only way to get out is CTRL+ALT+DEL and force quit the game.
Happened 4 times in a row, nothing i have tried is fixing it.

I'm having this same problem, but with the retail version.
Bumping this for answers.

For me it's at the moment he says something like 'Da Silva'
Or something Silva and it shows it written on the screen.

Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz

Happens about the exact same time for me, the father and brother's faces just get frozen on my screen and the audio plays out til the end and then nothing.

Had this happen to me at a different point, what fixed it was verifying the integrity of the game files (right click game in library->properties->local files) and then restarting Steam. Worth a try.

Didn't work for me.

Looking at the solution someone else posted, I wonder if it has to do with people who installed somewhere other than the C: drive?

Well i have only Windows installed on my C: drive, and Steam and all my games on it's on hard drive.

Same for me. Exactly same cut scene.

Wow, this happened to me as well but thought it was just me. Locked up at the same time but sound still went on. Had to ctrl-alt-del.
That said, second time through it played fine for me.

So I went back, and validated my files again, and this time it found a bad file, and replaced it. Upon launching it went through part 2 of 2 of the install, and then asked me for my key, which it hadn't before. Game runs fantastic now.:D

Just verified my game cache and the cutscene lasted longer but still crashed with audio playing in the background. Ugh!! Can't even continue the game now.

As silly as it seems all I did to fix it was restarting my computer and got past that section.
But now into the next chapter, same thing happens.
Maybe another restart will fix it.

Yes I have the same problem.
At almost every "bigger" cutscene my system locks up and i have to restart my computer. Tried to lower settings alot but the problem persists.
My temporary solution for this is to start it in safe mode (there is a shortcut/exe for this), then the game starts in window mode and I can see the cutscene. Then wait for autosave, exit and start normal again to continue. But it is a hassle, i can play for anything between 20-40 minutes until a longer cutscene comes along.
Also have performance issues with the cutscenes, some feels like 100fps and some stutter like hell. But i have no issues playing the game, no stuttering or low fps at all.
I have also tried to update drivers for my system, but the problem is still there. All other games work flawless.
Awesome game Rockstar, I love it but it is a shame that this is just another game released with way to many bugs.
Edit: also having problems with some random crashes, although they are rare, and if im lucky to get back to desktop i see this "graphic driver is unresponsive".
Tried different driver versions, no go!
Specs:
i5 750 2,66Ghz
16GB Ram
Ati 5970 2gb
Running game and OS on Intel 320 ssd
Everything is updated, Windows and drivers.

I have been getting what appear to be crashes during almost every cut scene, however if I leave it in its frozen state for what I presume to be the cut-scene / loading length, I miss the cut-scene but the game resumes as normal.
Obviously, I wanted to watch the cut-scenes, so today I decided to try a few things, changing from DX11 to DX10 appears to have helped at least so far anyway, the last few cut-scenes have played through fully with no issue.
System is
i7 980x @ 3.4ghz
12GB Ram
Win 7 x64
Intel SSD
Nvidia GTX580
Great game so far though, luckily I did not have any problems starting the game..

Switching to DX10 sorted it for me!

I played the entire game without any issues using DX10..
So I can happily say it worked for me :) throughout.
