I really like the look and feel of this game but find I end up having to do the same thing so many times. The game seems to be very fussy about just where and when you jump - I'm now on the bit where you get chased and fired at with arrows, I've done it about ten times now and have got bored with it. Or maybe frustrated is a better word! :D

I think I'll just watch the run-throughs on youtube instead.

cheers, john

Haha thats what I ended up doing when I got to the machine level. So boring and trying to figure out what to do next. I liked the game until the underwater part and beyond. Yeah and frustration does begin to kick in after only having one solution. I liked the graphics and the spider had me and my nephew who was watching laughing like crazy but after a while it became a chore to play.

I'm stuck on the bit with the railway cart that hits the switch to electrify the surface - the controls with a Windows keyboard are crap, I always end up about half-way along the surface before getting zapped. I've tried about thirty times now, it's no longer fun and there doesn't seem to be a way past it. I think it's time to count my losses and move on to something else.

Very frustrating.

As usual - as soon as I wrote that I found a way round it, that gives you a bit more time to get across :)

i agree that trial & error is boring, but for me it wasn't. i started playing the game while listening to a podcast, so i didn't really mind doing the same thing until i found the solution, and when the podcast was done, i started playing some music and i think its more fun this way.

it destroyed the atmosphere i guess, but i didn't mind. it was fun, and its kinda ridiculous when you play the game while listening to something that feels completely out of place :D

I don't mind the trial and error, in order to solve the problems. What annoys me is that the controls are so fiddly on Windows. I must admit, my keyboard is a bit old so that probably doesn't help :) But this game does seem to be very fussy, and sometimes the controls don't work right.

Well I just finished it - beautiful ending :) I just wish the keyboard controls were better, I would have enjoyed it a lot more - an excuse to buy a games machine maybe? :)

By the way this is only the second game I've ever played, Portal being the other (1 & 2 so may count as two).

you are right that controlling the game with a keyboard is not that good. wish we could have the option to change the keys to something more comfortable, but i did get used to them halfway through. hehe.

Controls are flawless on a keyboard. How much simpler could it be? I played 1 handed with the left AND I'M RIGHT HANDED. I think maybe the issue is with your sticky keyboards :D If you get stuck on puzzles just stop and think about it, trial and error will only get you so far.

Maybe you're doing it the wrong way?

Think about it.

Also no, I didn't find the game boring at all, if anything it was a bit short, some puzzles definitely make your brain work a bit more, but I never felt the game was frustrating.

Beautiful game. Disturbing and depressing too. :)

The controls are indeed simple, but they have a tendency to NOT WORK, specifically jumping. I keep dying because the game apparently can't tell that I'm pressing the up arrow. It's ridiculous and, I'll admit, more than a little rage-inducing.

That aside, my main complaint (so far; haven't finished it yet) is that some stretches of the game drag on for far too long, rather like parts of Alice: Madness Returns. I love the deliciously unsettling atmosphere and story, but, as the OP put it, I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over again without feeling like I'm progressing.
