All movie clips (in both Ys games) are in poor quality. 640x320@4mbps mpeg1 are you serious? Why? Is this to reduce the size of the download? Couldn't you guys choose a better codec or at least encode at higher bitrate? Do you realise how horrible those movies look like on a big FullHD widescreen?:o

Whatever quality we've got is the quality Falcom used for their original release in 2006. We can't do much to make it better, I'm afraid -- we've just gotta stick with what we have and make the best of it!
...That said, are you sure you don't just have your graphics settings really low or something? Because I'm pretty sure the quality of the videos themselves is much, MUCH higher than that. They certainly look it, anyway, when I'm playing the game at my monitor's native resolution of 1440x900...

Yeah, what Tom said in that we're stuck with the original quality for the most part. It's worth noting that even most of the individual assets of each movie were made for the resolution the movies would ultimately be encoded in, so there really isn't a whole lot we could do without getting things totally redrawn, and that's... not quite reasonable.

I see.
Another question, is it possible to use system codecs? ffdshow for example? May be some command line key or something?
ps: I tried that with "Oath in Felghana", it didn't work well (game crashed).
Well, thanks for Ys games.
