View Full Version : I was enjoying this game until...

I was enjoying this game until I got to the first real boss. Then I learned just how totally broken the difficulty/combat system is. First hit from the boss stuns me, second hit takes me down to almost no health. The next hit kills. No potion can heal enough to prevent the third killing hit. Also the attacks are tracking and can apparently move through solid objects so trying to dodge or take cover doesn't work either. I'm playing as a ranger so I'm not even trying to get close to the guy (who also seems to be a ranger).
And whoever posted about getting the ghost summon seems to have been trolling. The ghost will either die almost immediately because enemies snipe it, or it decides to run off and fight instead of healing.
Edit: Apparently, there is a fairly easy way to kill him (though annoyingly anti-character) though I don't want to give spoilers.
Edit 2: I was wrong about the ghost, but you need to either get him early or expect him to be a point sink until at least level 4

Are you talking about amdusias? Just use your creature and it will take him out SO FAST

What creature? I had a level 3 ghost at the time and he'd insta-kill it. I had to melee him to death (even though I had like 7 Str and have no melee skills).

IN broken valley there is a door labeled old cave. Go in there you will find a necromancer who will offer to build you creatures if you do a quest for him. DO the quest. Make a creature. Kick amdusias's ♥♥♥. If you cant find it search it up online

It turns out there was a HUGE part of Broken Valley I never got to so before I finish taking Sentinel Island, I'm going through it and that door was next on my list.

For those that do not want to dig around here is a Ranger defense mix.It will make life easier, though melee is fine too if setup correctly.
Me thinks you havent looked at your skills (Grin). You do not have to use one complete set. I mix and match skills from all. I did as many side quests as i could got my skill points and dragon skill points and invested them into common sense things such as potion extension (efficacy) reflect, evade. my armor is charmed with melee, magic and ranged resists. enchanted with retribution and regen. My regular skillset began as primarily dex because heightened reflexes make crits devastating in both melee and ranged damage.
I am at the last clue (not sure how close to the end i am) and level 42.7, i had to respec one time, near the beginning and are at max level difficulty, i have hundreds of deaths, not proud of that but have pushed through, i had no choice but to pick a ton of defensive skills and just by luck they worked out great later.
stats
VIT (29)70
SPIRIT (26)50
STR (31) no bonus
DEX (63)100 Pump points into dex, heightened reflexes give huuuuge damage bonuses and HR feeds directly off this stat alone.
INT (50) no bonus
Base stats without bonuses in parentheses
Skills, all base.
Summon mastery 5/5
Master herb 5/5
Potion efficacy 10/10
Encumbrance 1/5 once you get your battle tower you do not need to waste points in this. 1 point was from some mindreading.
Regen 4/5
Summon demon 15/15
Reflect 11/13
Evade 11/15
Firewall 10/13
Lockpick 7/7 you will not need to go any higher.
Healing 8/10
Explosive arrows 15/15
And do not forget your dragon skills, i did not put points into my dragon skills until well into the game, at nightmare it was quite hard and i felt stupid for finding i could up my dragon skills, guess i should have read the manual (Laugh)
Damage
Invisible Death Lev 40 bow
Base Damage 98-116
With armor and wep enchants
400-671+ (190-320)additional damage in parenth.
I have a set of level 40 armor but am not doing anything to it until i find a couple more pieces.
Mind read *everything*, do not put any points into mind reading, there is enough exp to go around. In the main city where mindreading cost 22,500 in many cases i was near a 800,000 exp debit. I cleared that up in 3 quests and still hit level 42 plus and have yet to finish the game.
Make sure to get the crystal skull and make your pet (not demon) a melee wrecker, that is keep your pet updated with the best melee parts and def parts, ranged pets suck for damage.
Do not get ranger stealth as you want range on this build, nothing makes it to me with more than a quarter health, even level 41 mobs last two hits, explosive arrows, they close, they try to destroy me with massive damage and rettaliation and reflect destroys them. Melee setup this way will do the same thing, though use curse if you go Melee.
This is a sleeper title that got by me, glad i found it. I have seen the Divinity 3, not to pleased with it and will probably pass because they went turned base, top down doesnt bother me but i prefer the look and feel in this Divinity 2.
The only two bosses that have given me grief, was the healing lever boss (forgot names)early on, i died soooo many times until i figured out what i was missing. And the big bug boss flying around in the cave late in the game, again it was this boss i found out i could add points to dragon skills (laugh), still this boss was a ♥♥♥♥♥ until i saw what i was doing wrong.
Really enjoying this game.

Well, finished it, ending battle was great, nice and challenging, but the escort mission to the last battle sucked balls as i kept listening to the dirigable crewman...."Dont leave us!", the damn thing kept getting destroyed so i caved and looked at a strat online.......everyone said ignore the crewman and fly ahead, so i did and wiped everything, the airship went in at full health, serves me right for feeling guilty and listening to npcs :P
Really wished they would have left the world open i have three unopened achievements, i do not play a game twice unless its open world after conclusion so i will never see those achievements.
Worth the money. I was able to squeeze 80 hours.
