So i've followed the steps in troubleshooting, verfied cache and also the steps it gave for OS Specific problems and i've still had no luck. In troublshooting it said something about secondary installers required by this game, where can i see those?

I had a friend gift this to me and my mother as well. While it works for me, it does not work for her. I too cannot find these secondary installers in the game folder.

Im having the same issues, the game doesnt start. When I navigate to the installation folder manually and try to run the game from there it says that the D3D compiler is missing, so obv something is missing during the installation/first run process.

I had the same issue.
You simply need to install DirectX manually from the Microsoft website, then it should work.

Which DirectX did you download? Which OS do you have?

Just run this. It will download what's necessary.

I already tried this, and my Who Wants To Be A Millionaire still won't work :(

any other tips?

(I've also restarted Steam / my laptop several times, defragmented the cache, and verified the integrity of the game cache in a hopeless attempt to get things working)

Hi!

I also had this problem and contacted them for technical support. The issue was due to outdated soundcard drivers. Even if Windows tells you the drivers for the device are up to date find newer drivers. I googled and found DriverMax, a program that finds driver updates (it's free but requires registration). After updating a couple of drivers it started working. In my case it was these drivers:
- Realtek High Definition Audio
- ATI HDMI Audio

Good luck!
