To all of those that consider to buy this game in dealy deal: It is really good purchase.
It's a solid kart-racers, with nice handling, intuitive drifting system and wild tracks. Game is colorful and pretty, everyone that aren't SERIOUS BUISNESS gamers should like it. Characters and their All-Star Moves gives the game a very nice touch an somekind or replayability. Up to 4-Player Split-Screen is freaking awesome so if you have enought controllers you will have a blast.
Two complains. Zero online racing mode (thats self-explanatory) and very poor recognition for non-XBox360-esque controlers. That can be walkaround with XPadder or X360ce etc. but if you have many obscure gamepads, you should be prepared for it.
It is awesome game. Take it like a warm-up before new SASR: Transformed. it's worth it (and it's IMO better than Mario Kart)

The game is really cool indeed, but no online (and being forced to use xpadder) is a huge turn-off

I never got into racers, I try Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Blur, but this one truly catch my interest. Really worth it. I dont care about the lack of online, but for those who care, Sega already said that Transformed will have online on PC.

I'm shocked that there is no online mode, I've bought it anyway. I only decided I wanted it earlier today and it went on sale!

Blur and NFS:HP, unlucky choice. Try GRID or Dirt 1 when on sale for max 2,50, they“re much better.
Wish there were a demo for SSASR, whatever, liked all PC-sonics so far, and it“s really cheap..

Yep. New Need For Speeds and Blur are very poor choices (I played both). Repetitive, poor handling, no soul. GRID all the way! DiRT 1/2, Trackmania or FIRST Test Drive Unlimited are also good choices, hovewer Sonic All-Stars is the best "fun-based racers with weapons" that you can have now.

I wanted it the last time it went on sale. Just got it. Heard a lot of good things about it.

GRID... I keep that in mind, thanks.

I've owned this for a while and it is really fun. It may just be a mario kart clone but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

True, if anything this game gives non-Nintendo players access to a Mario Kart styled game. :)

I bought it. I have not played a fun race based game since Diddy Kong Racing for the N64 so I believe it was about time to add one to my library again.

Does it work with a 360 controller without Xpadder?
I really don't like how games control with that interface TBH.

Yup, it's plug and play. I'm using a wired 360 controller.

If I'm not mistaken the Logitech Rumble Pad has a switch on the back for either X-input or Direct-input. switching it to X-input should do the trick, if not you may need a program such as xpadder or the Logitech controller may have came with it's own software.

I tried switching and using the software that came with it but :/ Doesnt work :(

The fact that on-line mode is missing is the only reason I still don't have the game.

This is good game for casual players. But for real gamers it provides only about 1h worth of game-play because it lacks online mode and is way too easy.

I don't know what a "Real gamer is. But anyway, I'm 2 hrs in and still enjoying it. Finished the grandprix cups in beginner, and of course it is easy in that mode. But I'm now playing in "medium" and the races are a bit more tough. I didn't finish any races in 1st, and finished 4th overall, when i was finishing in first in almost all the races of beginner. I love that fact, because i remember buying crash team racing for the original PS, and i found it very disappointing because the races were really easy even on the hardest difficulty. So this game comes with a decent challenge.

honestly this game is an absolute steal for the price, regardless of the lack of multiplayer. It's such a solid kartracer, very rare for PC Platform.
Also why all the hate for NFS: HP in this thread. I play all kinds of racinggames (arcade -> simulation) and NFS: HP really stands out among the arcaderacers. Immense fun, Beautiful, great handling and an absolute joy online (don't know if it's alive today though).

Cars feel like concrede blocks which doesn't differ between themselfs in handling and sterring. Boring world, with nothing to do and there is no fun in worryless driving (like in TDU). Damage system works in 0/1 manner and feeling during eliminating other vehicles (ex. police) is an downgrade to the Most Wanted or Burnout. The world feels empty to unrealistic thanks to it's exotic existence of every possible terrain formation. That makes the game so plastic in feel. Racing feels pretty boring: you are just racing thought a straight road OR drifting in curves. Those two things. No freedom. No diversity. You can't make a bound with a car, like in other racers (thank to that all cars handle in the same manner). Force pulled multiplayer into singleplayer(but some players enjoy it).
Those my complains towards new HP.
Best "Track" arcade-simulation game: GRID
Best "Offroad" arcade simulation game: DiRT
Best "Pure Arcade" racing game: Trackmania United
Best "Party" racing game: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
Best "FastFurious-Tuned" arcade game: NFS: Most Wanted / Underground
Best Badass Simulation racer: rFactor
Best "Free roam" racer: Test Drive Unlimited
Best game based on racing licence: F1 2011 or RACE '07
Best that I would try if i had a console: Forza Motorsport

I really like your list, but when you talk about HP it feels like we almost played a different game altogether, although i agree the freeroaming in HP is a pretty useless mode but the game isn't really about that.

Oh... I forgot mention the Best "Total destruction" Racer title that goes to both: Burnout Paradise and FlatOut 2 ;)

To be fair: HP had some cool moments: Themed Time Attack race with Carrera GT during the night and rain. That feeled pretty awesome, but there were later lots of more styled races in that manner and idea just ran out.

Zero stutter for me, it runs flawlessly. (W7 64-bit, Q6600, GTX 550Ti, 8GB DDR3)
I am loving the game, I feel it is much more fun than Blur which is 'similar' gameplay but feels soulless in comparison. I almost feel guilty for only paying £2.49 because I would have happily paid full price earlier if I'd known how much I'd like it.

I had no idea how much nostalgia I'd be getting from the Dreamcast/Gamecube Sega era. It's fantastic! Worth the full asking price.

Tried the demo for this game on 360 ages ago and even tho I am a mario kart type racing fan I wasn't that impressed so didn't bother buying the game.
When I saw it as a deal of the day on steam I thought I would give it a go as it was so cheap. I am really pleasantly surprised as it is a top notch kart game brilliant graphics/track design and awesome handling. A shame it has no online on PC but for £2.50 I can't complain too much !
Will definately check out the follow up when it is released now.
