Ground Branch (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/670743543/ground-branch) now has a Kickstarter campaign going on.

If you are a fan of the first, award winning, Ghost Recon (as well as Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear), then Ground Branch is what you are looking for if you miss what GR and R6 brought the gaming world. GB is the successor to those games and forward what was started by those games compared to what has happened with those franchises.

The owner of Blackfoot Studios was the former lead level designer on those 3 games at Red Storm Entertainment as well as working for and with the US Army at Ft. Bragg developing video training games for use by SF troops like the Green Berets. There are also Green Berets and instructors from JFKSWCS who are working closely with BFS in ensuring that if it can happen in the real world, it can happen in the game world and with the motion capture sequences.

You would be remiss at not checking out the GB Kickstarter page.

This is pleasing to my eyes.

looks awesome, i'll get in on that.
just hope Ubi doesn't attack them for outright mentioning the intended design aspect being based off of the original TC games that didn't go mainstream.
that and i hope they're smart enough to get the right licenses for the gun titles... IIRC Counter strike had to rename them when it went commercial for such reasoning as licenses, and its the reason some guns (such as the M16 and M4) are missing from more recent Rainbow and GR titles. (as i was told by Grin back when GRAW was released and seemed to be lacking some pretty famous weapons)
i'd hate to see some bad mock names thrown in.. but it'd be better than seeing them shut down over it.

i also kinda hope it doesn't end up chunky feeling.. so far every game i've seen use the UE3, newest build or not, and did a "realistic" look always felt.. fat.. it just never seems right for some reason...
but thats just me :)

Remember, Ubi gave up the Tac-Sim community so going after those gamers. Mentioning those design aspects shouldn't matter to Ubi, especially after the devs tried to get Ubi as a publisher ant they turned him down as they didn't think it was viable enough or enough gamers were interested (why do you think R6 and GR are now mainstream games?).

True. But John Sonedecker actually can say he worked on the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon titles, because he worked on them at Red Storm Entertainment. I don't think you can get sued by mentioning that. Besides, Serellan from the Takedown Kickstarter mentioned that his game was a spiritual successor to Rainbow Six and SWAT. So I think BlackFoot Studios will be alright :)

I pledged as well. Really great developer, great community and a very promising game if you can look past the pre-alpha stuff and also read all their ideas and planned features. If there is anyone who can make a true tactical shooter, it's John Sonedecker and his team.

Pledged and backed. I have been waiting for such a game ever since I got tired of SWAT 4 some years ago.

The genre is largely dead and the BFS team seems to be the best candidate to revive it. The big publishers like Ubisoft will never make a true GR/R6 sequel, they can hardly turn out good action shooters.

If you have any interest in a realistic, tactical shooter with full mod support do consider pledging. And let your friends and gaming buddies know about the project.

I've pledged my support, and they need the support of the community to get over that funding hump and make the title a reality. Let's get it done!

Use the links in one of the posts above to go to the Kickstarter page and pledge your support if this title is of interest!

Go here: http://www.ign.com/news-tips.html

and tell IGN to report this Kickstart on their blog. If enough of us do it, they will run the story and the game will get Max exposure.

Sadly I don't think they'll make enough money before July 6...a shame really. Getting an old school GR/R6 experience brought up to modern graphics would be godly. However another project called Takedown made the funding pledge, interested to see how that plays out.

Woot for ground branch. There is only a small team working on this and they've been at it for a while. It looks sooo good (like RVS). Hopefully they get the funding they need.

Most promising game in ages, they just don't make em like they used to. Pledged, but I highly doubt they are adding almost 300k in a little over a week:/

I guess so! Best bet would be spamming ign, pc gamer and RPS trying to get them to run an article, that could work.

Hey thanks I just backed $60

My steam friend just pledged im spreading the word

One user is spreding the word as he quotes

I have wanted some spiritual successor to the great Red Storm Entertainment tactical games. I actually purchased Rainbow 6 on Steam about a month ago and played with some of my friends.

I also upvoted all the posts with Ground Branch on Reddit.

odder has happened, watched one for an iphone game go from 50k to 500k in under 2 days.

its like watching an ebay bid, it'll sky rocket last second as people rush to get in.

Thanks to all who have pledged so far.

There is also a new video up about level design: Update #14: New In-Game Video on Level Design (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/670743543/ground-branch/posts).

This is the game we want! Hopefully they're will be another round/attempt at Kickstarter funding as the current per Supporter level is very high, even for funded Kickstarter games -- it just needs more people pledging which is far from unrealistic as even horrible fail games sell a million copies -- and we've all paid for that at one time or another...

Pledge now, support this Game, they only take your money if/when they meet their goal and you're promised the game you've always wanted! Even if this round doesn't make it -- show your support so Black Foot Studios knows there are enough people interested to give it another go. There's a steep marketing learning curve that many a Developer Geek haa to climb -- and the BFS fellers are Developers not Marketing Weenies...

:)

Sick.

Please people Spread the word this game has to be developed. We need more tactical shooters and no more CoD like shooters.

I can barely express how much I want this game to get funded, it basically looks like GR1 and Arma2 had a love child that featured good shooter mechanics. Yes I'm looking at you Arma2, awesome sim, terribad shooter.

ONLY SIX DAYS TO GO AND THE GAME'S ONLY 1/4 FUNDED!?!?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I really wanted this game to get funded...:(

Guess they're going to have to re-launch a private investor initiative.

Oh, well...at least we still have Takedown. (Also on Kickstarter, Google it. In my opinion, its concept is more appealing than Takedown AND it's been more than completely funded.)

Judging by the problems PC gamers have been having with FS from looking at various forums. You all should get a refund and put the $$ towards supporting the Ground Branch Kickstarter. We should not put up with companies releasing games in such a horrible state. If we keep buying the crap they keep publishing, they won't change for the better.

Actually, Takedown was only funded to show investors that there was interest in the genre and the game, they have no playable assets yet, that anyone knows of.

Have you ever seen pre-alpha footage before? The reason for the KS campaign is to get the funds to hire an animator to help smooth the animations out. All those sweet MoCaps made by the now retired Green Beret are what operators do on a daily basis. They are deliberate for a reason too.

Did you get into BF3 alpha? i was, alpha (in BF3) looked better than it is now.

Still, looks cheap for me, but that is my opinion.

Was hoping this would be something like Future Soldier, but better, or at least third person. I saw the video for this months ago and wasn't all that impressed honestly. The only kickstarter game that appeals to me currently is Police Warfare, though I have no idea what happened to it.
