View Full Version : Cannot advise people to buy this game...

...until the publisher actually finishes it. Honestly, this is a great little title, and I enjoy playing what there is of it, but I'm more than slightly flabbergasted that Steam continues to not only sell, but sell at a regular price of $9.99.
I take full blame for buying the title without doing proper research, which is why I have never sought a refund, but the fact is that this game, in its current state, is little more than a tech demo.
I continue to wish the developers the best in their endeavors, however. Recent updates on these forums lead me to believe that there is hope on the horizon, but this has long since past the point of too little, too late.

People who buy this game aren't right but aren't wrong either. This game was first released in April 2011 with the original Potato Sack. It's been out there ever since. If the Potato Sack didn't exist this game probably wouldn't even be here anyway. I know this doesn't change much but at least let people know the context of this game on Steam.
The fact that they're moving this game to another engine for free explains why they don't send any updates; there simply isn't anything to play with yet.

I agree that there are plenty of reasons for the delayed development of the game. Obviously changing engines was huge. Like I said, I I wish the devs luck with whatever it is they are doing to the game. Still, at this point, it is off-putting that the game is still not only being sold, but is currently on sale at a discount as if it were a finished product.

Thanks, Folkencon. On the topic of finishing the game, we'll take our lumps for taking so much longer to finish than we'd expected, but we've been working on it regularly, and I'm personally committed to polishing it to the point where (most) everyone who's picked it up says it's worth the wait.

And the above post is exactly what I am talking about.
Obviously you guys do want to (and are trying to) complete the product. I have absolutely nothing but respect for you for that and (honestly) I really, really am looking forward to seeing what the final version looks like. Hell, I previously wrote (on these forums) that this is one of the most enjoyable unfinished games I've ever played. That is still 100% true. There is so much potential with this game that it is silly.
If (when?) 1... 2... 3... gets finished, I will be more than happy to retract this thread. Until that happens, though, and especially since VALVe is advertising this as part of the Potato Reunion Bundle, I just wanted a clear statement that those of us who paid for this game a year ago are still waiting.
Again, I do not blame Dejobaan games since I did not do an appropriate amount of research before purchasing. If I had, though, I am fairly certain that I would not have invested in this game (at this point).

I don't know, man. People who will buy this will probably do that for the pack altogether and not just the game itself, obviously. Few people care about games that are in development.

So is the text on the Steam store page still true? "Buy the pre-release game now and you will get the full version automatically when it's finished"?
As from the blog posts I see there is progress on enhancing the game further, but will all the effort from the devs be in the end free for us users?
Just asking because with Aaaaa... Reckless and Awesome it was not the case - which is totally okay by me, as I enjoyed the first one a lot and could get Awesome in some deal and they were never advertised as being redundant to another. Awesome also has lots of new content, but still this makes me think about 1..2..3.
No offense or anything against Dejobaan, you guys need to eat and drink something as well to make very cool and unique new games ;)

Yeah; the work we're doing is all for version 1.0 of the game, so what we do is what you'll get. All yours. ALL OF IT! EVERYTHING!!!
