Just wondering if this game bears any similarity to the original Spec Ops or Spec Ops 2 besides the name? Can't get the demo right now so I thought I'd ask...
Those were games I played the crap outta, so this brings back memories. <tear> :'(
Haha who am I kidding, it's prolly a third person CoD clone.

no, it's not, unfortunately.
the new Spec Ops is a cover-based TPS. basically, a Gears of War clone in military guise. and it's about as a generic a game as it could possibly be. :(

Lol gears clone, the game hasn't even come out and its a gears clone. Why? because its third person, or because there is a cover system in place. Using your logic every third person shooter now is a kill switch clone. If you had any knowledge toward what your comparing geas to, you would know that gears was meant to be a fps, however the creators friend had him look at kilswitch and resident evil 4, thus beginning project resident kill switch which is gears.

According to your argument, Mass Effect would also be a Gears clone. Oh wait...
Just from playing the demo SpecOps seems much more mature in terms of story and character-design than Gears. You are a normal soldier, not some doped musclebeast.
It plays nice and runs well on my old mashine, so I'll buy the full version.

The only time a TPS can be considered a Gears clone is when it includes using a chainsaw attachment to kill aliens as extremely big muscle men. That doesn't seem to be the case here.
Some people can be so ignorant at times. It's why unique games that try to do something completely new always gets shafted. (AKA Kane and Lynch 2, Brink, The Club, and RE:ORC... which I only consider bad because of its ♥♥♥♥ty PC port) Everyone just instantly compares it to another game without giving it a chance... even before the game is even released. Learn to judge guys.

This game is a third person shooter and it does have a cover system, but you are right, not every game with those features are automatically a Gears Of War clone. We can compare the games though and I find this one to be far better in just about every way.
