Wireless Gamepad F710 & Earthworm Jim

How do I get the Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 (http://www.logitech.com/en-au/gaming/controllers/7361) to work with Earthworm Jim and/or Earthworm Jim 2?

I've tried using the gamepad in both XInput and DirectInput modes, however I still cannot get neither Earthworm Jim nor Earthworm Jim 2 to recognize any input from my gamepad (in case you were wondering, Earthworm Jim 3D works fine in XInput mode, however)...

I have the same gamepad...

What I had to do was set the gamepad on x-input mode then enable directional pad by pressing the "Mode" button...

you have to use the digital pad instead of the analog stick since the game does not recognize any analog input...
