How big is the total download?

I'm thinking of buying this but how big is the download?
I know it says 15gig on steam stores,but its very rare we download the full 15gig.

I was thinking maybe 12 gig or less,so i'm going to ask here otherwise i shall buy the retail version and install it off that if its the full 15 gig download.

Ok i just bought it and it says 12gb download.
So is it compressed real good and we don't download the 12 gb or do we download the full 12gb.

That's what i was asking in my orig first post.
For instance,when i downloaded xx game it said i had to download 8 gb,but after i downloaded it in the download section on steam client it was only 6.5 gb downloaded but unpacked to 8gb.

I can find out when i download it,but atm i have to wait till my bandcap re-sets if it's def 12gb download.

I don't really know how you can tell. The figures it tells you before you download always seem to be made up!

On disk it is 12gb. It rars down to over 8gb. I actually got it on disc (because it was cheaper at the time I bought it) and it came on 2 DVD's so I assume it's more than the 8.5gb a DVD can hold.

I downloaded it.
Total download was a little over 9.3gb.
massive difference between 15gb then 12gb tbh.

Yeah I meant I didn't know where to look to tell you the answer rather I don't know how you can tell the difference between 9 and 12gb. I worded that badly. :D

I have a prog that tells me how much i download and upload.
that's how i got to know what the total download was.

I understand what you mean,i was hoping someone on a cap like me already downloaded it,and knew the exact size of the download.

All you have to do is click to the download section of steam while its downloading to view the actual download size.

Easy said than done when you have not bought it yet.
I was asking before i bought it,otherwise if it was too big i would have not bothered getting it or got retail instead.

Also when i did buy it,and installed it it said 12gb download,yet i only downloaded 9.3gb.
