I'm making this thread for the people that are wondering what they should spend gold on in the game.
If you think that you will be playing TA for an extended period of time I would HIGHLY suggest buying EXP boosts instead of blowing it all on 1-2 weapons. The boost takes everything that you would earn normally and doubles it.
Here's some math taken from the wiki

no boost
A match lasting 25 minutes, where you win and place 1st on the scoreboard gives the following values:
Base XP = 1500 * 0.5833 = 875
Bonus XP = (875 * 0.25) + (875 * 0.25) / 1 = 438
Total = 875 + 438 = 1313
A 25 minute game where you come in first nets you a nice 1313
Boosted
A match lasting 8 minutes, where you win and place 9th on the scoreboard and have VIP status and active Boost gives the following values:
Base XP = 480 * 0.5833 = 280
Bonus XP = (280 * 0.25) + (280 * 0.25) / 9 = 78
VIP = (280 + 78) * 0.5 = 179
Boost = 280 + 78 + 179 = 537
Total = 280 + 78 + 179 + 537 = 1074
An 8 minute match where you win in a third of the time nearly nets you the same amount of XP as you would for being first place on the winning team. That's about 3k XP in the same amount of time it took to get 1.3 for being #1 and winning.
The Vip and Boost is also applied to first win of the day (1200xp) as well.
So if you have the time to spare you will unlock FAR MORE with a boost than you would by buying a few weapons.
