Hey guys. I know this is strictly for the first CoD game but I thought it'd be a girl place to post this since this is the first in the series.
I've seen my brother play CoD games (Black Ops, MW3, World at War)... And that Black Ops II looks really good. My question now is which one should a newbie to CoD should play first? What are you recommendations, guys? :3

Call of Duty 4 (online is much easier, I'm 0.5 - 0.6 kill/death ratio on every CoD except CoD4, which I have a 0.88 on)

if you saw your brother playing, you may ask him if you can play them a bit. otherwise it doesnt really do much of a different with which game you begin. i like black ops the most, others prefer the modern warfare series. its just up to personal preference

I'd probably go for COD 4, thats the orginal modern warfare. It'll give you a good feel for the later games and if you like the style of play. After that I would probably go for Modern Warfare 2, it's my personal favourite but I know many others disliked it.
Then go for Call of duty 2 for a WW2 setting with very good singleplayer with many missions, then after that go for World at War for some more WW2 action.

Call of Duty 2 ( Not Modern Warfare 2), because the game is easier than other Call of Duty games. With basic controls.

The first CoD is fine to get into the series. Id go through the series except for CoD3. Then anything after CoD4 (except for CoD5)play on console, cause all the latest games go away with the the PC gaming feel.

Call of duty is quite simple. Play them upto Call of Duty 4. The companies who made the first 4 games had some dignity and didn't churn out the same repetitive crap every year.
Despite what alot of "fans" will tell you the first two games probably hold the most originality and the most diversity. Whilst Modern Warfare changed the time peroid and added a fun story.
After Modern Warfare all you get is more of the same in a bad way. Even the multiplayer is quite miserable. It's just a small square plot of land with a bunch of 12 yr olds exploiting the auto aiming.

I echo the sentiment that CoD 2 is one which you should play first. It is the one I played first and I found it a great game.

Funny you'd say that, because the developers who created all of the Call of Duty games up to Call of Duty 4 also made most of the games afterwards.

COD 2 is i say the best COD of all time, i played that for years till up till last year on the pc and it never gets old. The next i would say would be COD 4 cause it is still popular and had a really game feel to it. I still play WaW also known as COD 5 on the pc, but it's mostly because of zombies and the vast majority of it being modding

Well you can always try out the demos for CoD2 or CoD4 without buying either and see which one you like more?
Both are perfectly good games although personally I think CoD4 is boring without mods.

Ive played all of them but the longest motivation I had was with Modern Warfare 2.
So from the multiplayer this is my favorite. As for singleplayer I prefer World at War.

Is it youre intention to geth Black Ops 2 (short BO2) also when its released?
Wel in that case geth CoD4 the first of the modern warfare.
CoD2 is also verry good but its back in the old days so back to WW2
When CoD4 is in this time and goth more and modern weapons.
There aree a lot of mods you can play here.
But just to be sure, if you gonne geth BO2 you can also geth the BO1 of CoD
Just to be in the mood for wats gonne come out end this year.

Start with Call Of Duty 1. Continue through the series. See how far you can get before you want to stop playing. It will probably be COD3 or 4 that makes you quit.

Why would I be stupid and get a steam version of anything that you can either get a hard copy of or a really good sale on? the steam store is crap 90% of the year (except their actually decent sale period).
So in all, I own hard copies of all games including Killing Floor.
CoD1 is probably the cheapest one to try it's like £6 or £10 for the deluxe one, which is like £10? (not on steam, their price is max price for all of them so I would recommend you don't use the Steam Store and you also get a hard copy and not a digital copy).
CoD2 I still play today although it is mainly cracked servers same applies for CoD4 unfortunately.
Ever tried borrowing your brothers games and tried those out and see if you like those first? or try the demos for CoD2 and CoD4
CoD2 - http://download.cnet.com/Call-of-Duty-2-demo/3000-7441_4-10440599.html
CoD4 - http://www.gamefront.com/files/8774322/Call_of_Duty_4__Modern_Warfare_Demo
All opinions regarding these games will vary (I personally prefer the WW2 era ones but that's just me).
