Seeing as I type this there are no post in this section yet I ask the question.
How is Combat Arms these days, I used to play it a couple of years back, I found it quite fun for a short while, but for better stuff and weapons you had to pay a whole load of money, and that ticked me off.
Is that still the case?
Did they add more stuff?
Let me now what you think :)

I don't use any NX now and have barely problems beating others. However I've had 4 years experience in the game so I know the mechanics well. It may be hard for a new player to get in the game versus better, experienced NX users.

Pretty sure it's still an unbalanced, buggy, hack ridden mess.

Last time I played it was like this too. About a year or two ago I think it was.

I played it for a year or so ever since it's release. It was a fun (although graphics sucked even back in 2009 compared to games of similar genre such as BF2 and MW1); it was alright until it got popular and cash shop was introduced to make money for nexon. I reached 2nd Lt 5th by then.
Ever since that time, the game has been ridden with hackers & glitchers. Every game I joined it would either have someone opking, aimbotting, or wallhacking.
They worked on that a little, but then gave up pretty much (or at least that's what it seemed like). The game became dominated by people who pay 2 win. Because you can get all the unlocks from day 1 if you have enough NX, plus there are a lot of special weps which are OP and are available from cash shop only.
Long story short, if you're willing to dish out like $20 per month or so, you would have a nice time ♥♥♥♥♥♥ noobs and those who don't think that outdated graphics are worth it. But if you're looking for a game needing skill, I think you would probably want to invest your time & money elsewhere...
that's my 2 cents, and I respect those who disagree with my opinion on it.

Terrible game. I used to play it a few years ago and I ended up playing the co-op modes more due to the excessive amount of hacking that goes on.
Blacklight: Retribution is an infinitely better free-to-play shooter.

I honestly can't recommend this game to anyone without some caveats.
The hacker infestation is currently the lowest it has been in years, but the beginner server still remains overrun by cheaters and trolls so watch out.
The game also has issues with lag and jerky player movements. If there is high latency and someone is using gear that increases speed, it can be extremely frustrating to shoot back at them.
There also used to be a sizable gap between premium and free weapons, but recent changes toned that down a little bit. At least in the assault/sniper rifle department anyway...
I don't recommend buying any NX unless you are damn sure you want to stick with this game. If you can play regularly enough, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting by, except for the aforementioned cheaters and lag.

Now that it is on steam will it not use VAC security to keep out the hackers? i figured that would be the reason for them coming to steam, and also to bring in more customers.

At one time, I played this as well. When it started it did something simple and did it very well. I had quite a few months of fun with this game.
When they came out with the "NUT SHOT!" I knew things were taking a turn for the worse. Then the hacks started. I tried to contribute by reporting hackers, taking screenshots, etc., but Nexon gave little consolation and made no effort toward remedy.
Finally, after being in a match where I saw a line of five or six players queued up at a widely known map fault to glitch their way under a map to OHK the players above, I uninstalled and never went back.

I'm not the most experienced with multiplayer FPSs, but to put as fine a point as I can on it, that ♥♥♥♥ ain't right.:o

The game itself is good.
The community can be subpar though.

The game felt sub par, it wasnt really great....I love how they try to claim THE MOST WEAPONS INA GAME when its just reskins of each weapon over and over. Its not that great of a game...sure you can waste time on it but I could only play for a week until I decided to leave over the amount of damn hackers.

This, FULL of hackers. I was around when it first released and it was ok for a bit. Soon after hacks, hacks everywhere, the one I remember most was one where they would glitch through the map and just headshot everyone on the opposing team.
DON'T EVEN TRY THIS GAME, play something like Tribes: Ascended instead, F2P not P2W unlike this bad excuse for a game.

No point in playing this game. It's a Nexon game. Full of hackers.
