Against what everyone says this game is really nice, worth all of your money. It isn't set on the same RE series timeline, but still is nice.Nice graphics, nice matchmaking, nice guns, and nice story. All this game needs is:More people (matchmaking takes a lot of time to find people to play with) and free campaign DLCs

Yes, certainly this game is worth ALL YOUR MONEY. Heh.

I liked the game, I really spent some good time with it DESPITE:

-really bad graphics. THE ONLY thing made REALLY and I mean REALLY good were player models. Textures are an atrocity, they are amazingly bad In my opionion.

-map designs. Overall, the ideas were good sometimes, but the way maps are made is taken from 1998. I could do better myself. Really, just corridor and square rooms 70% of the time. Simple blocky objects and weak models (besides player characters).

-physics. Or lack of them. The reaction for shots is +/- none or very unnatural. Even huge anti material rifle from DLC that could probably rip a tank in two on proffessionall needs 2 headshots to kill sometimes (normall soldier) and they won't even notice (visually) a shot to the chest.

-bugs. Playing in coop (like intended, single player is no fun at all) makes it impossible (99.99%) to play the game on the elevator scene. Boss bugs and stays in air beeing unkillable. Or elevator goes down instead of up. Or boss is cloned in two. And they are stuck in the air obviously. And it doesnt happen sometime, it happen every time. You need to playtest the game once to notice it. Just once. And after a whole lot of time, the patch that FINALLY came out, only came out for retail. And it didn't fix the issue. Steam patch came out later. It broke most of the things fixed by installing retail patch, only way is to reapply retail.

-versus mode. Let's skip the fact there were lots of cheaters. Now actually not better. Once charge into ground and insta kills (that are basically hidden in the game, as most ppl finish whole story without learning they can do fatalities). Special skills of soldier that make him immune. All stuff that brakes ballance. Easy way to activate weapon dlc for free and use it in multiplayer, like granade launcher and other op weapons.

-free DLCs (which work only with installed retail patch) are very short demos of very ovepriced dlcs that add a somewhat better than original campaign, doubling whole game time. So it's not 2 but 4 hours. Woo hoo, amazing.

AS said before, I kinda liked it. The pros, I don't know any. Why I liked? I don't know. Resident Evil fanatic? Close, almost I guess. Not as much as some, but I liked all movies and most games. So that's probably that. If you'r not like me you will hang yourself when you learn what you spend your money on. If you are RE fanatic, you already have that game. Conclusion is, this post is pointless. I'm just bored.

Right now I would say play the console version. Far as I am aware the PC version has not got the patch it needs right now. However I do not know for sure since I do not own the PC version.

.. and I actually played the xbox360 version before it's patch came out and I liked it.

However keep in mind I kinda liked the Outbreak games as well. ( Though not as much as RE Operation Raccoon City )

As far as the issues you talked about.. again, at least on the console, aiming seems fine. Zombies are pushovers really, but that is not the main focus of the game, so to be expected. ( They can be REALLY annoying however if they infect you. Crimsonheads are a little nastier but they die just as easy as the others if your aim is decent enough. )

Hunters take a pounding, Lickers do to a point but compared to Hunters they are cake. They can get frustrating if you don't hit them before they latch their tongue on you.

Tyrants are easy to avoid but REALLY hard to take down.

Friendly AI is bad, but not as bad as the L4D AI. This was before they patched the AI to be better in the console version too..

Also, keep in mind that I played the game on the hardest setting so your experience might be a little different if you play on one of the lower settings. I was told it is actually best to play on a lower setting first as it is easier to gain points that way for unlocks but I wanted the challenge + achievements :p

Multiplayer was a bit fun, however I noticed the more lagg between the players the buggier the game gets. I have found it is possible, when you or your opponent is lagged enough to actually pop through the map. However I think this bug was fixed according to a friend of mine who bought the game and still plays. ( Mine was a rental )

*Edit*
Slight spoiler, I played SP solo, I do not recommend it unless you are comfortable with the controls and are a bit of a nutter like me. ( on hardest difficulty )
I thought Nikoli was annoying during one part of the game.. but then the reactor popped up.. man that was difficult to get past ><

PC version did get the patch, look on forums, download and install. I think that PC version is actually better than console upon seeing consol ver at friends house, aim is fine for me in PC ver, but I heard some ppl complain about it. Game is easy even on proffessionall, but the difficulty rating doesn't change game difficulty in my opionion, it just makes it more annoying and it takes much longer for you to shoot stuff untill it dies. Never seen too much bugs (or any?) in multiplayer versus mode, and in SP only elevator part is constantly bugged and sometimes you need to get off elevator and step on it again for it to trigger in other places. I'd say buy the PC version if at all, since the price is right, but buy retail/windows live version and not steam (or steam + download retail patch).

I don't know how the game was before, but the game seems fine now. The gameplay seems fine, if I try to do something in the game, it works the first time. As far as I can tell, people just hate this game since it's not made by capcom directly, it's an over the shoulder tactical shooter and that there's a different approach on the games story. People hated that when RE4/5 came out for almost all of those reasons. It's a simple as people hating change. Resident evil was NEVER about zombies, it was about a virus, but a LOT of people won't get that. And as of right now, a fairly good game, is being shunned for those reasons. Granted after all this time it shouldn't be $50, but the game is fine.

Dude, bad description/comparison.

Most ps2 games run fluidly at 60fps, which is something most PS3/x360 games don't do.

RE ORC doesn't that either even if your PC is very good, the game is playable but its optimization is horrible. Mediocre graphics + less than 30fps, but somewhat stable (if on a quad core).

This game would have been GREAT (maybe the most fun RE game ever) if it had the graphics and optimization that Resident Evil 5 has.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!

Dark Souls is so utterly amazing. It does take a lot of time to understand and it is skill based combat. You should give it another chance. There is a reason it's called "Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition." You WILL die a lot. But when you succeed, no game will give you a greater sense of accomplishment.

It is one of the few games that does play a lot better with a controller. There is also a mod called dsfix that makes the graphics a lot better - http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/

Basically it boils down like this, The game upon release was buggy as hell, and pretty aweful in many ways. For the most part Capcom gave the frustrated consumer base silence. It's taken 4+months to get the DLC's officially available to the steam base, that were available from day one of release 4months... Ontop of that It was all day one release DLC(the worst kind) and in some cases pay to win in mulitplayer DLC.

Essentially this game was sort of meant to be like a Resient Evil version of Left 4 Dead (sort of). However L4D, Killing floor type games require a community, this game's community died off within the first month of release. Quite frankly the game might be acceptable now 4months after the fact, but for most part the community isn't here, so the game is still dead in the water regardless.

So the game isnt perfect, but people still like it. It shipped 2 million copies and Capcom officially stated it was a "big success" (http://www.gamespot.com/news/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-ships-2-million-6376066). I think it had a great idea and i hope they take a look at the flaws this game had and make a better one. The Story isnt like a regular Resident Evil - if you want that go buy RE6. Basically this game gives RE fans a way to play together and make your own fun out of it. I think this game is hard/unbalanced(super soldier is OP)/ and has clunky controls. I have a lot of other games i could spend time on - but i still find myself booting it up to play with my friends online because it has some good charm to it. Running through the cities blasting zombies and taking down other real people is what i have always wanted RE to do and they knew people wanted that - this was just their first attempt.

Sorry to be a negative nelly, but a "big success" for the marketing department maybe, all that means is they made alot of money from it. That actually has no bearing on how well the actual players receive the game. Much like how really bad films still make it to number one, because the viewers have to first pay and watch the film, before they can cast judgement on if they liked the film or not.

I just bought the game yesterday when it was on sale and played for like half an hour. I must say that I'm a Resident Evil fan but I knew a lot of reviews about this game and that it will suck. Well fortunately I wasn't that disappointed after 30 minutes so I can say that this game is ok and for Resident Evil fans, even good. Of course don't expect anything more than this from the game.

I had fun with this game as well. I beat both campaigns with my bro after finally being able to connect to each other (I am on windows 7 btw). I love how the game goes with the story from Resident Evil 2 and 3 though. Since I have beaten both of those games in the past it was kind of refreshing to visit certain areas again. I just wish those old school areas would have been a tad more fleshed out and foxed on though.

Considering this forum is so dead, probably not.
