Where are the sound files located in this game? All I seem to be able to find is the menu music.

Where are the sound files located in this game? All I seem to be able to find is the menu music.

All of the sound files (and short musical pieces) are stored in the game's "GCF" file ("C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Day of Defeat.gcf").

Within that GCF file, all of the sound files are located in the "DoD\Media" and "DoD\Sound" directories.

If you wish to extract the sound effects, you'll need a utilitiy such as "GCF Explorer", or "GCFScape" ( http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=25 ).

P.S. The same holds true for all of the GoldSource (HL1) based games (half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc...).
