Check out my original post on Reddit here (http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/167qte/far_cry_3_pc_save_files_for_each_mission/).

As I went through Far Cry 3's single player a fifth time, I gathered gamesave files for each individual mission for whoever wants to replay missions without playing through the entire single player again *cough* *cough* "Kick The Hornet's Nest".

Make sure to back up any gamesaves you don't want to lose before placing these in your gamesaves folder.

Instructions

1. Shut down Far Cry 3 if it's currently running.
2. Visit the folder below.
3. C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\"some random set of characters"\46
4. Move any files in this folder elsewhere.
5. Download desired mission save.
6. Unzip at the folder given in step 3.
7. Start Far Cry 3 and at the main menu click on "Story", click on "Load Game", then mouse over the options given. Select whichever option is the mission you downloaded, load it up, and play.

It's there. Number 13, Kick The Hornet's Nest.

This is one of the coolest threads on Steam. I started a second playthrough for two reasons:

1. To explore the map fully and see everything.
2. T replay some of the coolest missions I've ever played in an FPS.

I wish there were an option in game to do this, but this is the next best thing.

I'm on my way through now, if you miss anything or need any help let me know. Be more than happy to back up my saves for you.

I'm really just in need for a 100% playthrough save at the moment. I know they exist, but I can't find one in the more recent .save format. Everything's in a .sav format, and not compatible with the most recent version of Far Cry 3.

Thanks for the rep! :D

I'm working on a 100% gamesave as well, I just got everything done on the first island and started the second island last night.

One tip I can give you is to be sure to get the Relic in the Friends Cave under Dr Earnhardts Mansion, cause the Items Map doesn't show it.

Rep+ for doing this, though really Ubi should have at least given us more than one manual save slot.

I'll be updating it with gamesaves for every mission within the next half hour.

Someone posted:

"It didn't work for me. I removed all of the old files from the folder and pasted the new ones, yet when I load the game the only option I have is to start a New Game. I even tried turning off Uplay's cloud saves.

This was checked with missions Black Gold and Aced in the Hole.

It's silly, but is it possible that the saves are region locked? I ask this because I live in Canada and have yet to find a single save file that works for me."

But I cannot see that post. Has anybody else gotten the saves working for them yet? I tested these two just now, and they work perfectly fine. Make sure that Far Cry 3 isn't up and running while you're switching out the saves. Hopefully these aren't account locked, otherwise I wasted a whole bunch of my time, though this is the only problem anybody has reported yet...

Yepp, thanks for this but it doesn't work for me -_- same thing... I live in Canada and all I can do is start a new game when I do this.. this is sooo frustrating!! Seriously!

Ubisoft REALLY SUCKS!! First I spend 4 days trying to complete "Betting against the house" which is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! THEN I lose my save games and they disappear (not really the game just doesn't recognize it anymore) so now I try to download a new save "The Doctor is Out" because I'm not restarting the game, and I'm done with that impossible mission and it won't even read the save game!! Sorry Ubisoft but I'm not replaying your broken game... getting REAL tired of paying for Ubisoft games...

/rant

Sorry, thanks again for the time and effort you must have put in all this.. I just can't get it to work..

Can somebody who's gotten one of these save files to work please post a confirmation that they work? I've posted these at five different locations, and have received many thanks, but no confirmations that they aren't in fact bound to my account.

They aren't account bound, I've recent sent someone a 1.04 gamesave that I did right after doing the tutorial bit and it worked

Thier should be 3 files to each mission, Save0001, Save0005, and a Save.ini file.

Yeah that's at a different location.

Some versions of Far Cry 3 seem to save in:
"C:\ProgramData\Orbit\46" which is where you'll find the format "Save0001", "Save0005", and "Save.ini"

Other versions will save in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[BUNCH OF NUMBERS AND LETTERS]\46" which is where the "5.save" and "5.save.metadata" files are found.

I'm not sure which versions require which..

I'm sure that change in format and location is the reason most people lost their save files recently, though I didn't own the game at the time that happened. Hopefully this is fixed on Ubisoft's part, otherwise I wasted a bunch of time, and save files can no longer be shared.

Also, the "5.save" files are autosaves. Anything less than "5" is a manual save. Most of the save files that are downloadable in this thread are autosaves, because as you progress through the game, you are unable to manually save during most missions, whereas autosaves occur at the end and beginning of every mission. Technically they should work as well. Even then, some of the first missions use manual saves, and nobody's been able to get those to work either...

http://www.datafilehost.com/ is what I recommend to host them on, the file will stay active as long as they are all accessed in 60 days or less.

Also before downloading each file be sure to uncheck the box so it doesn't use thier download manager.

Has something to do with how Steam does it then. Cause my bro has the retail version and I have the Digital Download directly from Uplay and neither of us have that "Orbit" folder within ProgramData. Our saves are under:
Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\UniqueAccountID Here\46

But we had no problem swapping save game files, they just had to go under where ever our "46" folder is. Which is the Uplay AppID# for FC3.

So Steam is doing something different and is reason why it's not working for some of you. Just like they did for the STALKER games.

The Orbit folder was for older versions of Far Cry as far as I can tell. It is no longer used, for Steam, retail or Uplay, none use the "Orbit" folder anymore if they are fully updated.

I reformatted my entire computer, all I have is Far Cry 3 from Steam and I don't have the "Orbit" folder, I have the exact same save path as you do... switch up the files, doesn't work.

These didn't work for me. Ubi Launcher overwrites them every time I start the game, and the ones that stay in the folder can't be seen from the game. When I replace the save files WHILE I am ingame, the game gives a !!! LOADING ERROR !!!

It seems the savegames are now account bound, via a little file in My Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3\GamerProfile.xml

None of your save files work any longer... unles you post your GamerProfile.xml but I doubt uPlay will accept another user ID....

Just dropped in to say Thank you Conkerkid11 for your saves.
All of them work fine and there is nothing wrong with them at all.

Game saves are encrypted with your Uplay user name that you registered Far Cry 3 with.
Game save are only meant to work with your Uplay user name.
But I found a way around.
I wrote a tool that allows you to set the game to save and load encrypted and decrypted.

To make your saves work I decrypted each save using your name Conkerkid11 and then encrypted them with my own name.

To make it easier on others to be able to use your saves maybe you should offer them decrypted.
This way a user only has to set their game to load decrypt, load the decrypted save and then save the game encrypted (which will use their own name).

As it is most people won't be able to work out how to decrypt your save with your name, let alone decrypt and encrypt a save with their own name.

BTW: The GamerProfile.xml has nothing to do with saves.
That LockSting in the GamerProfile.xml is for Unlocking the DLC.
The LockSting is tied to the Uplay user name.

If anyone's stuck for a save and can't work out the the whole decrypt encrypt thing then feel free to ask for a save ready to go.
If anyone should happen to ask then this is the info required for me to give you the save working in your FC3:
1. Which save your after (duh)
2. Type of save eg: *.sav or *.save (they are different)
3. Your uplay user name.
(Name is displayed in the opening game menu, needed to encrypt the save).
4. [Optional] Which Slot you want the save. eg: Slot 1, 2 or 3

Enough rambling.
Once again thank you.
Cheers

These didn't work for me. Ubi Launcher overwrites them every time I start the game...

You need to click the gear icon in Uplay and uncheck the box for "Enable Cloud Sync"
This will disable saved game sync'ing and only rely on what local saves are available. Allowing users to switch between multiple saves or make use of manual backups.

They do not load in any version of the game for me.
eg: v1.00 to v1.05 (tried all versions)
If I can't load the game save I can't decrypt/encrypt/convert it.

If you were using name hacks on your original game that created those saves then I will also need the name that created the saves.
eg: name that showed in the starting game menu.
If your save didn't work or stopped working in the original game that created them then they are screwed, there is no fix.

If all else fails, then I'd say find the mission you were up to and pick one of Conkerkid11 saves and I'll encrypt to work in in your legit game.

Hi Smashly
Could you please send me the saved game below please. I cannot get through Mission 38 its spoiling what is a brilliant game.

1. I'm after: #39. The Doctor Is Out
2. Type of save: *.sav & *.save (both of them please)
3. My uplay user name: Granth

Thank you in advance for your time. I appreciate it.

+REP!

You are starting a second playthrough without Ziggys Mod?

It's been four months since smashly's been around. I'm guessing he's moved on. He never did upload the tool to decrypt/encrypt the save files, and hasn't posted in 4 months. You may be out of luck.

I found his tool.

http://rghost.net/44287857

I ran it through virscan.net and it showed clean. Anyone else might want to do the same.

However.

It looks like his tool allows you to do three things...
1)Make Far Cry 3 make unencrypted save games
2)Make Far Cry 3 load unencrypted save games
3)Encrypt save games.

Do you see the missing piece?

We'd need to unencrypt the save games. I'm not sure how to do that. My guess is that Sharkley (an apparently clever but petulant young man*) hacked his Far Cry to use a Conker11's name then made it save unencrypted then was changing the name and reloading/resaving encrypted (though possibly he had a more advanced version of his tool).

Does anyone know how to do the name hack thing? Will it get my account closed by Ubisoft if I do it? Anyone care to create some unencrypted saves? I just want to do the "The Social Club" mission which I only found out about after it was too late.

Just as a note, It seems the crappy save systems are ruining games these days. Bioshock Infinite was the same, changing from a useful save system to something similar to this. I often like to go back and play particular missions again so this kind of thing really puts a dent in the replay value.

*He deleted his tool with an odd comment from here:
http://farcry.nexusmods.com/mods/26/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D26%26pre view%3D&pUp=1
He also seems to have blown up on some people on another forum about their problems they had running his tool. Having published some simple tools myself, I have some perspective on his frustration but I think he could do with a smack with the mature stick.

Screw it, I'm just going to watch it on Youtube. How can game devs get such a simple thing so badly wrong?

smashly is full of crap guys. That link is likely just a virus since it's a program, not a save file.

Do you still do this if possible can you do

28. Fly South
.save
name: Mysticalus
