Cs 1.6 server

Ive been trying for a week now and have had no luck. I have a linksys wrt54gs router with all the correct ports according to portforward.com. I have everything updated on my linux box and all of the hlds files installed, but when I start a server I get "STEAM Auth server" I also get
"scandir cs-1.6\cstrike ./profile/SAVE"
So I always get set up with a non-steam local server!

Someone please help!!
