Mine (http://i6.tinypic.com/14e7tx2.jpg)

Lian Li case with 2 Harddrives (150gb Raptor/300gb storage) up in the 5¼" bays held with brackets that trasform a 5¼" bay into 3½"

Took out the 3½ bay box, aswell with the HDD bay box. I like simplicity.

Only have 1 80mm fan in back, case came with 4 but they dont do anything for temp. Cpu idles at 32c. nothing fancy, all stock cooling.

I dont need mine to be really neat looking... but for ribbon cables, can you fold those... "HOTDOG" style and tie them? Would that do any harm? that's the only thing I'm concerned about.

My case has three fans, one on the side, one in the front that sucks in air, and one in the back that is more of an exhaust.

Nothing special, but it started as a cheapy $30 case so I'm satisfied...I did the paint, blowhole, wire management, and some other stuff.

Update: Did a little more tweaking to the IDE cables and added a fan and HD.

Good cable management. But not screwing in your HD's and leaving them just sitting at the bottom is BAD. Good way to shorten the life of your hard drive, have a more noisy computer, etc.

i idle 28c with my 3700+ @ 2.9ghz and load at 37c im on air with artic cooler 64. my x1800xt 512mb on air idle 42c and load at 60c with my sytrin cooler on low fan speed.

i would think water would bring down temps alot more cause i was thinking of moving to water as well for my system. i really like the way it looks though one reason i like watercooling systems. like you case as well :D just thinking maybe something is wrong cause i would think cpu n gpu would be lower then mine which is on air.

thx m3tal

remember that my gpu is OCed 670 / 765 so it runs pretty hot but my cpu temps are fine really

do u guys think that the paint job look a little off in some way?

i still need to paint the HDD cage and the cd/dvd just to let u know

i need to do the wire management again, but man its hard to manage waires in the little spot that i have :(

great i also forgot to take a down-to-top view picture to see the radiator >_>

i think that im not getting excellent temps because my panaflo fans have tiny fins and a big middle, so not as much air is really moved, but i can never ever change those fans again so i might as well add 2 more on top so it would be a push/pull config? i do have some extra fans laying around....

I love this case, you can put most of the PSU wires behind the motherboard.

Does anyone here have any tips on how wire management should be and all the different benifits from it? I know the general idea is to hide as many wires as possible, but I'm a little in the dark how it can lower case temps by 5 degrees F. Also, does anyone have any cool picks where the wires are actually showing and it looks really cool instead of a spaghetti fest? Also, does anyone know how well the Silver Thermaltake Kandalf does for wire management? I'm a noob!

wire management can help by increasing airflow through a case thus makeing the case cooler and yes i have a case where all my wires showing have LEDs on them and even other cool looking lights like blacklights...my camera was such bad quality it makes the computer not look as good as it does but at knight my computer really glows...the case doesnt really help in wire management its other factors that help like extension cords and such.

4 hours of work.

Needs a lot of work.

First, take the main 20pin power supply connector, shove most of it behind the mobo tray, have it come up the top, fold it over downwards, and connect it to the 939dual 20pin connector.

Do the same for the 4pin 12v (it looks pretty good right now though)

Next, have the ide cables fold right after they are connected to get them going sideways, and then fold up again. This will make it look straight and neat, instead of bent and messy like it is now.

Shove the power cables coming to the hard drive behind the hard drive cage. Have it come out from the front size of the case.

Shove all those other random molexes inside the hard drive cage. Use tape where nessecary.

Not bad. I know those modstream cables are hard as hell to work with (personal experience...ugh)

Just a couple of things...that red wire running down the middle of the window...get rid of it!

And get a can of compressed air for the Zalman. It's starting to build up dust in the inner fins.

edit: Also, wrap the cable of the 7000b around the base of the heatsink one time and then have it connect to the CPU fan header. See my picture here for how I did it when I had my Zalman:

Aight okay will do, thanks.

I'll get that red wire that is for my rear fan moved so it won't show.

I was planning on getting more compressed air, as I also have noticed dust build up on my Zalman fan.

And thanks for the Idea for wraping the Zalman wire around the base...i'll do that....neat trick.

m3ta1head
08-05-2006, 12:44 AM
If you don't have compressed air, there is another way:

Take out the Zalman (extremely easy, just unscrew it), take it outside, grab some 91% alcohol. Next, pour it through the fins to clean it out. Let it dry for a few hours. Put it back in and it's clean :)

Flip the hard drives around.

Run the case power cables behind the hard drive cage. Stick excess power supply cables behind the hard drive cage, including the 24pin main connector.

Pull the excess 12v 4pin connector and stick the extra slack behind the power supply. Use tape to secure it.

Lots of things to tidy up, so use common sense and tidy them up appropiately. Post pics here when you're done

The only difference between the Big Typhoon and the BT VX is the fan. It pushes about 30cfm more.

Since the BT retails for $40, and the VX will hit the streets around $70, it's utterly pointless to get a VX. More powerful fan, you say? For $30, you can buy 220cfm delta fans.

$10 will get you a 100cfm fan, which is more powerful than the VX fan (and still cheaper and quiter)

The big typhoon is perfect. The intel mobo has a 4pin connector but the 3pin is fine becuase the intel mobo extra pin on the cpu fan header is for "PWM" or "power wave modulation." It controls the speed. The other 3 pins are for 12v,ground,fan speed readout."

Firstly, try to use as few cables from the power supply as possible. Shove all the excess behind the motherboard tray, and tape it off.

Move slacked cables into hard drive cages or pull the slack back to where it isn't visible, and tape it off.

That's a good start. When you're done, post a proper picture (in full light) showing your computer from a side angle (not slanted). We'll go from there.

Still needs a lot of work.

Flip the hard drive around so it's facing the other way. Get all those wires in the general area of the hard drive cage outta there. Fold the IDE cable so it goes straight towards the hard drive cage, and once it's behind it, fold it back upwards until you get to the CD drive. There's still lots of stray wires-use your common sense to get rid of them! Finally, tidy the cpu heatsink cable. Wrap it around the base of the heatsink. If you need to move the wire, unscrew the fan on the heatsink and adjust it.

Sorry if i dont post the required, but i just wanted to show you guys how crappy my wiring is :p

Looks pretty neat, aside from that stray molex sticking out.

Two things:

What chipset heatsink is that? It looks sick, and I need a new one for my DFI NF4.

The memory is supposed to be in the orange slots.

um either slot works fine for me no difference with orange or yellow. As for chipset cooler its a thermalright HR-05 SLi can pick it up at svc.com for 20 bucks

that molex connector is out cause my side fan connects to it

Ah, makes sense.

And it's been proven at DFI street that the memory in the orange slots is slighty faster than the memory in the yellow slots. As a tradeoff, the system is slightly more stable when the memory is in the yellow slots.

I've had mine in the orange since the begenning and I've never had a crash, though.

m3talhead, is it safe for me to turn my HDD around? When its turned around, there is about 2mm max between the HDD and the side panel of the case. Will it affect temperatures in any way?

It shouldn't change your temps,It's makes it easier to tidy up the cables to the other side of the case away from the window where they can't be seen.

i know there are still some wires hanging around, but i can't do anything about those, as they go to the window fan...

next build that's in a P-180, i'll be sure and try to actually get the wires away from the mobo...

How come you have the memory cooler wire strung across the board?Don't they have a closer power plug in the "Fatal1ty"board?

There wasn't another connecter for it and it was way over there.

But now, it's tucked in underneath the video card.

It is slightly overpriced than other mobo's of the same type but it's still a solid board it proved to be a good overclocking mobo.

I myself wouldn't get one but some of the benchmarks were pretty impressive at the time that board was released.

its excellent, really impressed. Had it about 3 or 4 months now and I have only good things to say really.

The only problem is that most games don't support the resolution as standard so you need to do some editing of .cfg files etc to get them at 1680 x 1050

no, the engines can support it but they never add it to the options for some reason. You have to add it via config.
