Splinter Cell EEE was definitively discounted when I first looked, but now it costs three cents more than buying the games separately [for Germany at least] and seems to be no WD any more.

“Weekend Special” is Dawn of War II Gold now, 50% off.

Now I see it too. But, holly hell, I already OWN ALL the previous one. And there's no discount on the last title itself? $45.99 for just the Conviction Deluxe is still too high, in my opinion :p

Just in case it wasn't obvious, here's something from Steam Support site https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...4502-TPJL-2656

c. Users who own "Dawn of War II" and then go on to purchase "Dawn of War II Gold Edition" will receive an extra copy of "Dawn of War II"

If anyone is interested in CR, do get the DoW2 Gold, and get your friend into DoW2. Last Stand is really more fun with people you know.

In germany the individual price for the Splinter Cell Elite Echelon Edition is 80€ but the package costs 50€. In $ counties the individual price is 95$ and the pack is 49$.
We have to pay more for the pack while the individual price is about 12€ lower?

About the Splinter Cell EEE: Why isn't Pandora Tomorrow, the second Splinter Cell game, available on Steam? It was ported to the PC, because I own a copy of it and it does say PC CD-ROM. Is there some sort of legal issue?

I already own DoW II and the expansion is kinda pricey (compared to the deal) so I wont be buying that deal in particular, neither I'll be supporting ubisoft's DRM so no deal for me this weekend.

Btw, I don't like "weekend special", it sounds ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...weekend deal is better.

The Weekend special says lets "kick off" not her is, does this mean there is more than one Weekend Deal/Special?

Though there is two weekend deals, i'm not sure how you got the "kick off" to interprete it that way

it says:

"Kick off the weekend"

Meaning, telling everyone on steam to kick off the weekend with a new game for a better price, not implying that there would be two deals, the fact that there are two deals is merely coincidental

The term kick off is more of a plural, a sport saying as in football/soccer meaning to start something with more than one thing as in football two half's.

I would have though the singular would have been, here is, this is, the weekend deal.

I think you mean developed by someone else. KOTOR 1 and 2 were developed by different people, but published by LucasArts. At least that's what I believe to be fact. Too bad I'm too lazy to look it up.

Sometimes there are legal issues to selling the game after the fact that it's been sold.

For instance, the reason I think that Full Throttle from LucasArts hasn't made it to the nostalgic adventure list from Lucas here on Steam is because they had a local band play the music for the game. This band was most likely receiving royalties for the music rather than Lucas owning the music. Therefore it would create a strange financial situation 10+ years after the fact that the game was being sold.

i wish the Prima guides would come down. i think they need to, by allot!

They're way too expensive for just a computer file, i'll never pay 19,99$ U.S. (I'm in canada) when i can get them printed same price or even lower else where (Amazon.com $13.59 for L4D2).

Please Valve + Prima, review your prices. The launching prices should always be appealing to consumers.

Umm they are appealing to many customers since many customers have purchased them. Just because they are not appealing to you doesn't mean they are not to others. So perhaps you should say "Valve + Prima, review your prices. The launching prices should always be appealing to me."

I could have sworn that Columbus found Espaniola and that Amerigo went to Florida to find what the natives told him was the bigger land mass.

Could be wrong....... and so could history books........

Then again, the native americans (both north and south America) and others such as Leif Erikson found the Americas first. And also, speak to a black history teacher and they'll tell you that the Moores had a trade going between Africa and South America long before Columbus "found Espaniola." We did find African artifacts that dated prior to the European colonization period too, which puts a twist on who got here first.

But this is way off topic, so I'm done. All in all, none of us truly know cause history books aren't always exact truth, unless you saw it with your own eyes. It's information taken with a grain of salt.

Some games are broken globally and just redirect to the homepage. Others still work with cc=jp for me http://store.steampowered.com/app/34280/?cc=jp

They're probably restricted but they're still being "released" so it's hard to be 100% sure.

Its minimum specifications aren't that high. A mid-range Dual Core with an 8800GT is a pretty low end gaming system these days.

The biggest killer for this game was no DX9 support and lack of weapons. With the new DLC and the Windows 7 adoption rate, this should be received better.

Btw, to be honest i rather read posts with complains about regionally resctricted games than post with comments such as ''Bawww Torchlight on deal for the 11th time.''.

Here, here! As a non-US, non-EU located Steam user, it's good to know I can't see a game in the store because of region restrictions. Not just region-restricted offers.

I had a "Suggestion" post about adding region availability information to the games which have it (a link to another page with the info or an expanding list in-page would suffice).

OT: Thanks Yotsuba and TurkeySandwhich for a good laugh reading your rants about each other :)

I was just asking, no need to get defensive. My point was if the game is cheaper on retail why wait for it on Steam and you answered my question.

The thing is though that there are times where Steam gets worse DRM than retail, and Steam itself is DRM as well. There are advantages and disadvantages to Steam and retail, but I don't like putting all of my eggs in one basket so to speak.

Also to the other poster, my point was regarding games that are cheaper retail vs Steam, I'm aware that's not always true, but that was the point I was discussing, when retail is cheaper than Steam.

I wasn't posting Steam bashing, or saying that Steam is always higher than retail, just that I didn't understand why, when retail is cheaper, people would want to wait for Steam to drop their price instead of just buying the game via retail.

I'd like to also point out that gamers who buy exclusively on Steam are part of the reason Steam can artificially keep the prices higher than retail. If sales were to drop on Steam, they'd be forced to compete against retail, but to each their own.

I would, if Steam would let me download it. But the game is regionally restricted (and so is the demo) so I can't start the download from within the Steam client and currently trying to start it from my browser is just causing the Steam client to crash. Which is why I asked.

I thought it was fun and easy to control all the units which is something I hardly ever experience in RTS games.

Now that sounds good. Think I might just take a risk on it and get it gifted then.

Yea i did, i didn't think that people would gladly pay for such little improvement but looking at it and the current trend with DLC at the moment it seems they are happy to hand over their cash.

So i won't generalise like that in the future ;)

I think Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY will be the game of the midweek madness. It is in Specials section now on Steam's main page.

For $20 I'd buy it without any further thought. But €25 barely beats Amazon.

50% sounds huge. Until you realize that the standard price of €50 is just obscene.

In US, B:AA is definitely worth $20. However it may be cheaper elsewhere. I remember GFWL was selling it for $12 or so in their sale a few months back.

Personally I got it as part of the Eidos $50 pack during the Holiday sale, and it was worth the price just by itself with all the other games just bonuses :)

Uh, what? what logic is that? You didn't get the GOTY edition, the GOTY edition, or the DLC's, cost money, why would you get it automatically upgraded for free? or free levels? your logic isn't making any sense

From Steam

Batman: Arkham Asylum GotY edition (http://store.steampowered.com/app/35140/)

"Critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum returns with a remastered Game of the Year Edition, featuring 4 extra Challenge Maps. The additional Challenge Maps are Crime Alley; Scarecrow Nightmare; Totally Insane and Nocturnal Hunter (both from the Insane Night Map Pack)."

not every company is as nice as CD Projekt (makers of Witcher) when they gave free upgrades to better edition about twice.

Standard to Enchanced, then Enchanced to Directors Cut.

All for free, with no extra cost.

Yeah no i understand some companies do it but to expect every company do it is illogical

It's like buying Batman Arkham Asylum non-GOTY from walmart, then walmart starts selling the GOTY edition, and expecting walmart to give you a free GOTY edition

Well the Director's cut just re-adds the nudity that was cut from some regions when the game first come out. It was avaliable to me (in the UK) from day one. So it's not really a new edition.
But yea, there is content there that could of been charged for, most of it fan made, and i wish more companies would give it all for free.
Zombie Driver is another that springs to mind, the new free dlc for that is better than the original game!

On the subject of getting additional content for free, Monte Cristo (now defunct unfortunately) did that with City Life, upgrading previous owners to the newest one for free (well, you actually still got to keep the old versions too).

The same was done for Two Worlds too, where previous owners were given the Epic Edition for free.

Meridian 4 have also been known for giving free games to those who purchased their complete game pack.

Skaery

It doesn't have to be free. The price could be around the price for the extra maps.
It's just silly having the non-GOTY edition with no way of upgrading. I don't want to buy the GOTY edition just for the upgrade...

If I remember correctly, Meridian 4 gave two free games that they released a few weeks after they had a sale on their pack.

We are also using Steam for achievements and other features (but not multiplayer, of course. FNV remains a single player only game).

What exactly is the special deal with Fallout except for the pretty promotional graphic on the storefront?!

Fallout 3 GOTY for 49,99€
Fallout: NV preorder for 49,99€ with the usual preorder ingame stuff.

Both standard full price for a newly released game on steam are they not?

The sale is more an elder scrolls sale than it having anything to do with fallout, or have i overlooked something?

Still, oblivion on -66% sale is reason enough for an impulse purchase if one doesn't have it already.

If it was the weekend special, it would be labeled as such.

It's not uncommon at all for Steam to have 5 and 6 games on sale at any one time.

The Bethesda games being discounted is just in celebration of the pre-order of New Vegas.

Or at least I'm selfishly hoping, seeing as I already own all the Bethesda titles either on disc on via Steam.

Either way, great deals abound, kiddies.
