Hi there,

I'm very new to Steam, and I just missed the opportunity of Borderlands price reduction.
Do you have any idea if this special price will be back in some days/weeks/months ? Or is it more like 1 time a year ? Is there some sort of schedule ?

Thx

If not sooner, wait until Holidays/Christmas (december). Maybe something ont he Black Friday (november) or even at halloween (oct/nov) (don't raise your hopes on that last two, but you can count on the first)

I tried to buy Revenge of the Titans as a gift for $5.
I thought the purchase went through, i slept my computer and and i went to work.
when i woke up the computer after work, the purchase had not gone through and the sale was over.
Not my loss, but still not what I thought had happened. I'll have to pay closer attention in the future.

It is definitely not a 1 time a year deal. I would say the longest you would have to wait to see this deal again, is until end of December, but that's the worst case. There is a good chance, that the game will be discounted before that during a daily, mid-week, weekend or publisher week sale.

Its a really good game yes, well worth it. However the only problem is finding a populated server 24/7. Its not a graveyard just yet but it is getting there. Real shame :(

Edit: It isn't even on the top (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/) played anymore. Sad it has less players than AvP because it is far superior.

I keep seeing these "dead MNC" comments tossed around as truth, but they ain't. My son and I both bought a copy a month or so ago, when it was on sale. There were a bunch (like 30+ I think) of full servers then. I ended up not really liking the game, but it clicked for my son and he's been playing ever since. It's still just as populated as it was then, if not more so.

The only way to reference it as "sparse" would require you to compare it against only the *biggest* games out there. They seem to be doing fine. I'm just sayin'...

Is there any PC game publisher who loves Japan ?

The nearest we'd have to that would be Square Enix, at least they listened to PC gamers in Japan and started offering up their games on Steam to some extent.

As for the restriction on Saints Row The Third (and most Steamworks restrictions), it makes zero sense as the game can be purchased worldwide from most of Steam's competitors. Which again begs the question of why a publisher would choose to restrict Steamworks games on Steam but not on the other sites....

anyone noted fear2 pack is -50%

It's been 50% for a very long time. Basically, it's either a permanent price drop marked incorrectly as a sale, or Valve forgot to remove it from sale after the weekend deal it was part of.

Yes, they've all been notified, but their details won't be "announced". If you want to find out, you'll have to follow the rules of all major competitions, write in and formally request them.

But, if you haven't heard anything, you haven't won. Only the mailed entries are yet to be drawn (August 1st).

Oh, and you don't need to make a thread for it. There have been loads (mostly from silly people who couldn't understand that no contact = I didn't win).

I agree, that there were quite a lot of games on daily sale, which didn't interest me at all, but there were a couple of games I was interested in. Now, by looking at the huge summer sale, I could say the exact same thing. A huge bunch of deals that don't interest me at all, but a couple of deals, which were really great.
I'm sure most of the people here would agree with me in that, but would they have the same games for the interested and not interested category? No!

So, in conclusion, don't behave like a spoilt brat and think every sale is about you. Just take opportunity of the ones you like and when you don't like it, then just be happy for other people who do.

warning gory detail.

Maybe to a movie where superheroes sexually violate, torture, and murder each other isn't depreaved, but to me heroes don't murder and sexually violate each other. The heroes were almost more depraved than the villains. Frag the main villain was a team member who set off a nuke.

People who behave like that aren't heroes, nor is that a movie I care to watch again. At least I watched it before giving an opinion.

Maybe I have rep for being helpful and poignant?

Nobody has to like my taste of movies and games, and it shouldn't matter to anyone that I dislike their movies or games. I was just expressing an opinion.

People who behave like that aren't heroes.

That was the whole point. The story is a deconstruction of the superhero genre. It shows that only truly ****ed up people put on costumes and fight crime.

See also: Big Daddy from Kick-♥♥♥.

Obviously if you were expecting a standard superhero movie, I can see why you were disappointed.

I also didn't do my research when I saw Million Dollar Baby - expected a hot blooded boxing movie. Yeah, didn't get that. But I'm not going to say it was some kind of a travesty.

Actually that was the whole concept behind the comic/novel Watchmen, a world in the middle of Cold war (with a behind-the-escenes of Vietnam war) which is so ♥♥♥♥ed up that those heroes (not really super heroes, just normal persons, except for Manhattan) behave ruled by it's ow ethic and consciousness. They are so ♥♥♥♥ed up like it's the world itself, they have to struggle to live their lives and protect what they think is fair.
It's a twist in the common superhero concept.
But yeah, it's ok if you don't understand that the first time, nor is your taste at all, but is not a crappy movie nor depraved, is just like the real world you live in. One would expect a little more level-headed and informed opinion from somebody who is helpful and poignant.

Peace out!

Are all games not available in the UK mentioned in the list? I'm asking this as it hasn't been updated recently.
This is the list for now (I've excluded games not available in all Europe):
Assassin's Creed II
James Cameron's Avatar: The Game
Metro 2033
Risen (Only available in parts of Europe)
Silent Hunter V: Battle of the Atlantic
The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction

I don't get what you're trying to say with this. Every single game of those is available in the UK (and in Germany as well)

It wasn't aimed at you exclusively, but you know, the "I want an AAA title for 75% off every day and all Indie games suck" speech is kinda old too.

Weird, i don't recall saying either of those things. So you can take that ♥♥♥♥ and ram it, you're preaching to the wrong person. I enjoy indie games as much as i enjoy some "AAA" titles, i am currently enjoying Dwarfs!? a hell of a lot more than most games in my library.

Gods & Heroes is 50% off for a week or so. This sale is direct response by the developer to the low player count. And to be honest, the game isn't *that* bad and the monthly fee is only $9.99. However, the Steam version does seem to have a strange bug, in that if you have Need For Speed Hot Pursuit installed, trying to launch Gods & Heroes from Steam will launch Hot Pursuit instead. Luckily, you can launch Gods & Heroes from it's own launcher.exe file instead which also means you don't need Steam running in order to play it.

Wait, how does this have anything to do with the current thread?

Nothing. Waterviolet is an automated spam bot.

It's good but online is nearly dead.

Luckily they have added bot support so you can play against bots (though they added them quite late so they didn't update the store page to include the "single player" mode icon).

Shatter Horizon is a decent game that lacked depth. They did add bits and pieces later on for free which was good but by that stage the game had more or less suffered a quick and painless death.

I think Arkham is a pretty great deal at $7.50. But we have seen a lot of it over the past year.

What I'd really like to see are the Capcom games that were 50% during the summer sale drop to 75%. Resident Evil 5 for $15 was barely a discount off of the standard retail price, even Dead Rising 2 could have gone a bit lower.

Last year RE5 was $12 discounted from a full $50. That's when I bought it.

The reason I'm really pissed about Batman is that OnLive just had it on sale for $5 last Friday. Square only keeps the price this high on Steam.

I'm also starting to wonder if they keep doing these back-to-back discounts on this one game because their publisher license may be running out with Warner and they need to squeeze every last penny out of it before that happens.

I don't know, Torchlight used to do that a lot. Then again, with the upcoming release of Arkham City (which is probably the reason this game has been on sale so many times lately) it's probably going to be on sale again before September ends.

Also, it will most likely be offered for free as a non-giftable pre-order bonus for Arkham City.

I use a gamepad for both DS 1 and 2, and I never had a problem finding out how to get past any level (specially since you have an in-game tool which always points you the way). Only problem I've had with the games is that the movement and aiming camera are the same, which took a while to get used to.

Sure because some people are just obsessed with the Valve name and grossly overrate Portal 2. Of course Gabe probably knows such people are in limited supply thus was quick to reduce it to a more reasonable list price with a few months of release. As someone else noted, though, that's become a regular practice with AAA releases these days: publishers look to capitalize on rabid fans/people who absolute must play a game immediately and then drop it down to the non-rube list price.

There are probably a lot more region restricted games missing, since the last edit of that post was more than 14 months ago.

Yet another great deal for Japan...

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/11031/?cc=jp

Advertised as a two game pack... but only get one game and paying $5 more for the privilege. Nice one! Not surprising though as Valve have been falsely advertising Oblivion as being for sale here for years and won't change it despite it being brought to their attention many times.

I guess you're from the UK? Seems like you'll have to wait a couple of weeks for this game as well (as for all recent Bethesda Games), but you can always buy it retail or from some other D2D service, since it's probably going to be a Steamworks title (but don't take my word on that)

I doubt it, since the same thing happened with Brink and Hunted and I think both just appeared without any further explanation or discount a couple of weeks later, but if I was you, I would just get it retail, it's cheaper there anyways.

Well, sorry to say that, but I guess you'll have to live without the helmet.
About having it on Steam, like I said earlier, chances are pretty good, that it will be a Steamworks title, which can be activated on Steam, but like I said, I can't promise that.
If you really only want to have it on Steam, then just wait a couple of weeks until they officially announce, if it's going to be activate-able on Steam and then you can decide, if you want to buy it retail or wait some more until it is up for sale on Steam.

It's because they decided to screw the AU/NZ region with a 25% discount. Little do they know that even at 100% off it would still be a rip off since I've still got to pay for internet and electricity.

There's around 11 and a half hours (from the time of this post) till the sale ends. You can actually use the clock on the daily deal: http://store.steampowered.com/app/3200/ to determine this as both sales will end around the same time (the Fallout sale may end around 5 to 10 minutes earlier than the daily deal.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but in GMG they're running a promotion for which if you simply complete a survey about the website (they don't ask for any personal data) you get a 10% discount voucher to use in any purchase from the website.

I totally used it to preorder Deus Ex at $38.

They also have a "make your own bundle" for the SEGA Genesis games. Pick the 10 games you want for $5. Great stuff, since you can choose the Sonic games too, and you can usually get only 2 of them for that price.

Edit: price corrected for the Sega pack

The DLC that you could buy with tickets in the Summer event was a reskin of the ship. These two are different, and the Ultra expansion has a huge amount of changes to the game. I would highly recommend getting the complete pack so you have the base game and Ultra.

Ultra adds things like:
Multiplayer
3 different weapons
new bosses

It makes the game a lot more interesting, and then there's still the option to play in Classic mode to see how much the changes do to the game.
