I'd jump on it in a heartbeat if it were in a midweek madness/weekend deal/daily deal for at least 50% off.
Seriously, instapurchase. Still kicking myself for passing on it during the Summer Sale.

I have to say, although Homefront's singleplayer is laughably bad, the multiplayer is excellent. I'd say as long as the multiplayer isn't dead in your region, it's worth $15.

Heroes V 50% off...
I think it's save to say, that this is the worst daily deal, since the invention of daily deals.
I got The Heroes Pack (which includes Heroes V + both expansions + Dark Messiah) for less than that, during the summer sale.

The best way to see that would probably be, to have a look at the news section (http://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_announce&headlines=1). There are all the daily, midweek, weekend and special deals, like the THQ deals (with some updates in between).
If you want to know all the other discounts, like for example the 10% pre-purchase offers, then I don't think there is a nice way to see what excatly has been on offer during this week, but to be honest, it shouldn't be much different to todays discounts, since most of those last way longer than a week.

It was 75% off from $29.99. It only recently went to a base price of $19.99 last week.
As I predicted months ago before SquareEnix lost publishing rights, they were putting it up for sale every other month to squeeze out as much profit as possible before they had to hand it over to WBIE.
I wonder if WBIE will even feel the need to discount further seeing how big of a seller this franchise is. I'll wait and see what they settle for during Xmas.

The Halloween Sale Cometh...
Weekend - GTA Series - Awesome bargain for anybody who was left behind and needed all the GTA games for just £5
Weekend - Alice Madness Returns - Highly recommended for it's 50% off after just FOUR months! (Pay attention Witcher 2...this is how it's done, not some useless 19% off) Think it uses GFWL but in any case there's supposed to be added achievements in there, the only down side is that the original game is missing so hope Steam adds it at some point.
Next week - break out your ghosts and your pumpkins, the scary seal will be here ^_^

Instant purchase for me as soon as it's reduced, great game.

just incase someone does know, there is a 3rd weekend deal going on, though it wasn't announced on steam news, it also isn't on the weekend deal news, and it was basically swept under the rugs...and marked at a "special promotion" instead of weekend deal, it is the two tribes complete pack for 50% off, or the individual games for 33% off

It's Party Time!

Depends on region, I guess. Where the GTA Complete Pack is not officially available [Germany, e.g.] there’s no spotlight for the GTA deal.

How did you get TT2?
I found this articke on Gamezebo :
http://www.gamezebo.com/games/toki-tori-2/preview
and sent an email to the developers .
I got this reply today :
Hi,
Today is your luck day :) All the 200 copies for the Toki Tori 2 Dev version was given away last week. But today we are going to send out another 100 copies to people and you're one of them! So here is your activation code: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
(activate it through Steam, I assume you know how it works. If not let me know and I'll be happy to explain).
Please bear in mind that the version of Toki Tori 2 that you are going to download soon will only give you a first impression of how Toki Tori 2 will look like and its atmosphere. The current version isn't a playable version (Many seem to think that it is).
This version will be updated regularly in the next 6 months including playable levels.
We'll let you know on Steam/Twitter/Facebook/Website if an update occurs.
You are free to leave your feedback, impressions and questions on the Toki Tori 2 Steam forum (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1242) or on our website (http://2trib.es/tokitori2)
Thanks! Warmest regards,

Christmas is one day too, let's just make a daily deal and screw the usual sales, what say you?
During [the end of November and] December there’s a whole lot of celebrating: Advent, St. Nicholas’ Day, Christmas, Silvester/New Year’s Eve; and the Twelve Days of Christmas end with the Feast of Epiphany at Jan. 6th. So, no, it’s not just one day of Christmas. And yes, all that December fuss every year is quite annoying, too. But going by this rate, we’re constantly gonna be celebrating something and anything at any given time just because companies want us to buy something.
What’s wrong with celebrating a few notable feasts for the appropriate timespan—in the case of Halloween the night of Oct. 31st to Nov. 1st [with preparations the week before].

'Dungeons: The Dark Lord' Free DLC Adds Halloween Content
From 25th October to 13th November, all your dungeons will be crammed with pumpkins and cool new Halloween-themed gimmicks! Along with that, you’ll be able to play a completely new map and cast a most sinister spook-tacular spell!
A new Halloween map, which includes all of the following Halloween features
All your dungeons are randomly decorated with glowing Halloween pumpkins
A new spell ”Jack-o'-lantern” (What could it do? You’ll have to try it and see)
New background image for the main menu
Two new prestige gimmicks for you to build
… Also, heroes drop candy instead of gold...but they’ll get more tricks than treats in your dungeons!
A few additional notes
All Halloween features can be disabled in the main menu
New global chat for the server selection UI in networking lobby has been added
The new content will be available via the Kalypso Launcher upon loading the game and as a Steam update

Aww, I love they actually put Horrid Henry up as a Daily Deal. No really: I imagine there must be parents who'll love getting kids games for cheap to let their kids play it on their computers. That is not true. My country has never been supported by GFWL and yet I've seen hundreds of deals for games which use it, including these games, which I got in a previous deal, Batman: AA, Resident Evil 5, Bioshock 2, etc.

Steam used to sell them games... And then they changed it a while ago I believe, can you try searching for Bulletstorm and see if it comes up?
I was never able to see Bulletstorm, since it was available for preorder. In fact, there are some games which weren't available before but are now. Again, it's not a problem with GFWL, as some games which don't use it are not available either.
But using the search I realized I can still see the Codemasters individual games, just not the bundle. It's just a case of an odd choice at restriction.

Couldn't help myself. I decided to give Alien Breed: Impact a shot. Since I had gotten Alien Breed 2 for free during this year's Summer sale (at least I think that's when I got it) and actually kind of enjoyed it, why not. For $2.49 these are a great deal.
What can I say I'm a sucker for a cheap action game.

Alien Breed 2 was one of the prizes you could exchange tickets for in the Summer Camp, so that's probably where you got it.

You can unlock and play as a Headcrab in Super Meat Boy.

Including HL2 may make the underlying game available in a way to allow a base for free 3rd-party mods to run. The more people that have HL2 (HL2 multi-player components or "hl2mp" in particular) already, the more market there is for 3rd-party mods. Often, these "mods" evolve into games of their own, some converting to paid (Counter-Strike and Day-of-Defeat being a couple of famous examples, and both of those had versions available on the old HL1 "GoldSrc" engine and the HL2 "Source"/"OrangeBox" engine).
Anyway, that's my uneducated, non-insider, guestimate.

Except everyone has been granted access to HL2 mods ever since TF2 became Free to Play (even though HL2 mods are still quite dead overall)...

I could be wrong, but i do not believe that TF2 gives you the source SDK bases anymore, or at the least, not to someone who hasn't at least payed for one of the transactions within the game
TF2 is not in the list of games that include the source SDK base

They changed that shortly after TF2 went F2P. You don't need to install any Source game anymore (not even TF2).
Just open Steam and go to Library/Tools. There should be all available Source SDKs in that list.

I realise this is not strictly relevant according to the intent of the thread topic, but this month's (UK) PC Gamer magazine, Christmas 2011 edition has a Steam code for a free copy of "King Arthur: A role-playing Wargame" if anyone's interested.
Not sure if the magazine's out in the shops yet, as I'm a postal subscriber and I got mine this morning (I believe we get them a few days earlier). Mind you, our local Royal Mail staff are tossers, so that maybe irrelevant.

Thank you, I got this from pc.ign.com and then clicked Prime and signed up for my free 7 day trial period. Once I was signed in, I was able to get King Arthur as well as 2 new DLCs for Sanctum (it's actually 3 that they give you, but I already had one of them from the Indie Royal sale earlier this month.
That's sweet, thanks for the tip.

But codes for Sanctum DLC? That's something I really want, but I tried signing up IGN Prime some time back and it just doesn't like my debit card.

Thanks for pointing this out! I mostly did this for the Sanctum DLC but getting a free game at the same time is awesome! I also got some minor stuff on PSN, namely a Resistance 3 theme, Resistance 3 t-shirt from use on Home and a Uncharted 3 t-shirt for use in the game.
By the way, for those still unconvinced, yes this is legit and yes you can cancel right away as mentioned earlier in the thread.

That reminds me of the last year the Genesis pack including the "Sonic" games even though they weren't advertised in it. Thankfully I purchased the Sega Gold pack retail for about the same price.
I'm still mad Sega was too cheap to just sell the whole pack *virtually* like they do the "retail" pack.

Indeed. My personal opinion on these matters is that I can excuse (to some degree) such mistakes from smaller, possibly newer games companies, but from someone as established as Sega it's frankly beyond funny.

Sega's greedy, and they want us to buy the pack and THEN PAY ANOTHER $20 to get the BEST GAMES IN THE PACK.
I paid LESS THAN $15 FOR THE ENTIRE THING! RETAIL!
***EDIT $50 total for the games when the retail STARTED @ $30! ***
AND the "retail" can be had for ~ $12 if you look for it! WITH ALL THE GAMES!

With EA and their pathetically amateur legal knowledge and conflicting terms and conditions, and Sega with sort of nonse, it sometimes ashames me that this sort of cheap behaviour goes on in this business. I'm sure if it were some other market, they might well get laughed at (not all markets of course).

Portal 2 for $10... Endless good deals... Lord give me strength; must resist*
*Been with Steam since April this year. Bought 2-3 games for close to full price then (about $20 each). Was a cute steam newbie not knowing better. Summer sale rolled around and I crapped my pants at every game being 50-75% off. Of course, I was kicking myself for the earlier purchases. Spent $200-300 on AAA games during the summer sale and bought more games than I did in the past five years. Still haven't played about 45% of them (which are now on sale again - even cheaper -_-"). Want to finish them before I get anything else. Realistically, anything I get now won't be played till early-mid 2012 and by then at the very least there will be an even bigger Christmas sale.
Summary: Lord give me strength; must resist =D
=3 Steam
randomeditforluls: Skyrim at 75% off would be pretty pro, by the way. Just an idea =D

This is nothing, merely the black friday "pre-xmas" sale we now have, the forum did not go crazy dispite the medium size of the deals available.
Just wait until the xmas+new year one...Steams ENTIRE service hits overdrive big time on that which is the #1 biggest sale Steam produces and it only hits once a year! Server crashes, broken links, deleted threads, utter madness and chaos ensuing LOL
In 3 weeks, time to dust off the overdrive machine ^_^
In the meantime, enjoy the 5 days we now have :)
