If you deal with Spellforce Universe please note that the 2nd expansion is due May 15th after a 5 year total delay. Hopefully won't cost above £15.

I guess it's ok if you wanted RPG/RTS hybrid but I think Divinity 2 is a better option.

It's technically complete because Contracts is mostly a retelling of the original. Plus, let's see you pony up the music royalties for the copyrighted tracks to enable Steam to sell it here.

I'm thinking that Tomb Raider series (already have Guardians of the Light) or maybe Mini Ninjas are the only ones I'm interested in, truly. The rest I either already have or am not interested at all, for instance Infernal.

Still great deals already, let alone the daily deals all weekend long. But I'm sure it'll be Hitman (today), Deux Ex, Tomb Raider and Just Cause. At least, that's the typical flow of things for Eidos/Square Enix.

I can recommend Mini Ninjas. This was a game I picked up very cheaply on the PS3, and I didn't expect much.

I found it to a very fluid, enjoyable experience. It also has a very gentle difficulty setting, if that's of any bearing to you.

I paid $15 for it on Steam and enjoyed it well enough, though it seemed to me to lack a certain something - depth or whatever. And it's way too easy though on Hard mode, unless you explicitly limit yourself (like decide to play without magic, avoid using the bow, etc.) The end boss took me a few tries to beat however.

And I loved the graphics - it was the first game that really made me appreciate the depth of field effect.

Saying everyone obtained King Arthur from the IGN deal is like saying everyone was farming coal. Not everyone is on top of their scouting game as gamers. Many are casual buyers much like they are casual gamers.

Also, just found out that Puzzle Dimensions (http://store.steampowered.com/app/57200/?snr=1_7_suggest__13)got a price reduction to $2.99. I've been interested in this game, but it just got that much more interesting.

Also, Skydrift is 50% off at GamersGate (http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SKYDRIFT/skydrift) making it $7.50 and it activates on Steam, says so in the game details.

Why its bad? even in cooperative?

It's not a bad game. It's a short game. Beat it in five hours.

They did a great job on the graphic.

Cover system is really bad. I didn't use it.

There are times when your partner is talking to you like he was next to you but you're a block away from him.

It is linear but certain maps and level design are done well.

Voice acting could be better. Kind of dry at times.

Overall it's not a bad game just executed it wrong.

Steam April Entries

Dungeon Defenders - Pax/Easter stuff, new map, Shards part 3, new accessories.
Exceed series - maybe
Cherry Tree High School - maybe
Dungeons and Dragons Anthology - high chance of this but not individual pieces.
Witcher 2 sale - EE version arrives April 8th I think
YS - 2nd entry - maybe
SSF4 AE has not done a sale yet so that might show up.
Magic The Gathering 2013 - highly likely since it's now in the sub/app area, expect the usual DLC add-ons.

Isn't that the price on Steam right now? I presume that's the case since it's £3.75 in the UK.

Buy it on Steam if that is where you would prefer it and that is your concern.

I don't think that Bulletstorm gets you a Steam code. It does, however, get you an Origin code both from Amazon and Steam. So if you buy it on one service then you can have it in two separate places.

Steam isn't a must, but I understand the want to have more games in one place. Especially in a system that you know will persist for years to come. But then again, there's the humpty dumpty theory. Those who are mighty have a higher wall to fall from, then it's hard to pick the pieces back together.

Most likely an Origin code since I've never heard of an EA game requiring Steam as a point of activation.

Origin, typically takes a little more effort than that. Try contact the live chat support and give them the key that you were given and email proof of the purchase and they'll most likely activate it for you.

I even got my Steam copy of Mirror's Edge activated on Origin and there is no cd-key that comes along with Mirror's Edge on Steam. My email proof was the only thing that I needed to get it activated.

Now of course things may have changed, but I'm sure that Origin (EA) is looking for more people to sign their games into their system to try to bring in a larger gaming population.

Give it a try. It'll take maybe 20 minutes of your time.

Some random friend on my list gifted me that game not too long ago. It's not bad at all. I thought it would be harder, but it's fairly casual platforming action game. It's simple fun at its best. The devs did a good job.

I'm looking at the X series myself, thinking of just getting the fist one X: Beyond the Frontier to see if I like the series at all rather than spending the full amount on the whole series.

They absolutely should not. If someone is to lazy to read the instructions and experiment a bit, then puzzle games are not for him. Scripted shooters with press 'E' for everything or BioWere style 'spam A and watch the Awesomeness happen' type of games are more suited to him.

I'm sorry but the part on mixing molecules and rotating them really confused the heck out of me. I wanted to like the game, but it leaves a bit to be desired.

Remember, they're trying to sell the game, if people find it too confusing to enjoy, they won't buy it. There are many games and gamers don't have to buy every one, so if a game is deemed too hard many gamers won't buy it.

I have to agree. I played the Space Chem demo when it first came out and the tutorial felt like a lecture. I found it hard to consider fun when I just wanted puzzles to play.

For me the best puzzle games are easy to pick up, but difficult to master. This was more like difficult to pickup and I'll never try to master it because I'm bored now.

If the devs have such a poor understanding of the gamer base that they cannot clearly explain how to play their puzzle game to everyone who tries it, that also means they can't make a good game.

Insisting they shouldn't "have to" (which I can't disagree with more) doesn't change the fact that they just lost a sale in me, who had it in my cart and just came here to check for info if its worth it.

Beyond not having clear instructions for every gamer out there being problematic, the fact that a puzzle game dev is so out of touch with their customers means this is a dev I will probably avoid in the future.

Havent played SpaceChem for quite a while, but i did find it quite hard to get into and fully understand how things needed to be, but when i did it was very enjoyable and mentally stimulating.

There just seemed to be steep learning curve, and iirc the tutorial wasnt as helpful as it could have been, going to YouTube to watch someone elses run and seeing what they were doing helped, but it doesnt quite sink in until you do it and fully understand what everything does and the correct way to use them.

They dont need to make the game dumb, but they could help themselves by making the game easier to understand their games mechanics. iirc the in & out locations just had to be in the correct quarter, for ages i was thinking i had to match the same square as the diagram told me it'd enter/exit. Silly little things which arent that clear, and could be more obvious. It makes more sense in the later stages (not that i got that far, think i did a handful of 3-phase puzzles) but when your desperately trying to understand how things work, you take those things at face-value rather than assume its not so literal, because it could impact on stuff you still havent understood.
Seeing it in the sale has made me reconsider installing it and having another bash.

Frankly I play games for enjoyment, not as a jarating contest to prove my intellect. I'd say those who play to prove they're "31it3 really are wasting their time and most people don't care how good you are at video games.

Games that aren't straightforward and are unnecessarily complex aren't going to sell well, games don't have to be dumb to be fun, but if the coder can't clarify the basics and have the gamer learn from then on, people aren't going to buy the game.

The best games are easy to learn, hard to master.

But best of luck to you and your 31it3 clique, I'm glad you're not one of my friends or I'd defriend you for your comments.

I hate elitism, generally, but I don't think Jan was being elite in any way.

He was making the very valid point that games don't have to appeal to everyone, or we'll just see the same old (sometimes dumbed-down) middle-of-the-road nonsense that is already churned out.

This rather exemplifies one of the raisons d'etre of indie gaming. They're not aiming for wide appeal, or other profit maximising targets. They're making a game that they love, that others may love too.

I intend no disrespect, but that's what I read from his comments, and I certainly agree with this. I find SpaceChem mind-numbingly hard, but I like it for that. Much the same as SuperMeatBoy. It is hard because that's what it is.

There's nothing wrong with a game being hard, but even Super Meat Boy revolves around a simple concept that anyone can pick up on. It's just run and jump. The difficulty for SMB comes from the timing of those runs and jumps. Spacechem doesn't start off with that same accessibility. The tutorial literally has parts that made no sense to me until I did them repeatedly to figure out what they needed me to do. I even solved some without even knowing what I did right.

I guess it would be better to say it doesn't communicate to new players as well as other games would. It's like ease dropping in the middle of a private conversation and trying to fill in the blanks on how it started.

Lets look at SpaceChem. At least 40.4% of the people that bought the game played the game. 2.6% actually beat the game. The highest achievement rate is 40.4%. The second highest is 24.1%. That's almost a 50% drop.

Lets look at Puzzle Agent 2. At least 84.8% of the people that bought the game played the game. 46.2% actually beat the game. The highest achievement rate is 84.8%. The second highest is 80.3%. That's less than 5% drop.

I intend no disrespect, but that's what I read from his comments, and I certainly agree with this. I find SpaceChem mind-numbingly hard, but I like it for that. Much the same as SuperMeatBoy. It is hard because that's what it is.

No problem. I can appreciate any well informed opinion no matter how different from mine.

Phew. That comes as quite a relief.

I've had a horrible day on here today. I'll swear that some people are quite deliberately misinterpreting me. Just click on my posts and you'll see what I mean.

So I'm glad I AM getting my point across, because I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong.

Did you not read the whole "to (sic) stupid" and "you are the cancer of gaming" and "good riddance" parts of his post? If you did, how can you possibly defend him?

Please do note the apology I made to this post RIGHT UNDERNEATH it.

No offence Graspee, but I'm having a hell of a day on here today.

I don't like putting people on ignore. I prefer reporting their posts which break the forum rules.

Me neither, as it can really bugger up threads for other users. If you have a person on ignore, you won't see their posts, so if they tackle a post you made, anyone else reading it will think it odd you're not addressing them (or maybe think you're being stupid). Also, if you then repeat something they've said or a similar point, it can look equally jarring.

Just my 2 penn'orth.

And that's fair comment too, I suppose.

I picked it up reasonably easy, but I can fully appreciate it might be a daunting task to others, particularly if they're not expecting the game to be how it is, or are expecting a traditionally more laid-back puzzler.

I don't say that with any snobbery or elitism, please note.

Apologies if I'm being too over-zealous in my explanations. I don't know whether it's my luck or my perception, but I seem to be having a few problems with idiots on these forums lately, and they either don't have a clue what I'm talking about or just delight in assuming wrong things about me, or other nonsense.

Are you speaking of the argument of good vs evil? That was intense.

As for Spacechem, I got into it pretty easily, but I'll admit that I found out as I continued playing that I was making it harder on myself than I needed to. So I agree that the tutorial may not have explained things perfectly to understand the key aspects of the gameplay.

However, I'm a fan games such as Myst where nothing is explained to you and you have to figure it all out on your own. I don't like my hand held, though I do enjoy to hold hands.

No problem at all, I don't take offence.

It doesn't get to me in the conventional sense; it's rather that it both saddens me and irritates me a little as it can completely confuse the issue (for those that need guidance).

Besides, I'll happily reply to your posts, because even when we disagree, you're respectful and courteous. In other words, you deserve an answer.

That's true. IMO they have been very odd little games. I'm all for obscure games and random budget titles but it seems they are scraping the barrel of the indie bucket. Would be good to see those titles that never go on sale actually make it there once. Get Death to Spies up there, it's an awesome game everyone should enjoy ;)

The thing is, Valve CANNOT "force" games to be on sale that aren't usually. In fact, the reverse is more likely to be true.

If a developer doesn't wish to put their game(s) on sale (for whatever reason) there's little to nothing that Valve can do about it.

I would love to see more diversity in Daily and Weekly sales, but that's the conundrum you're beset with.

Frozen Synapse was €3,24 already before costing €7,81 on the daily deal, which is a high price for a sale; SpaceChem is hard and has been 75% off already. Can't comment about Penny Arcade Adventures because I haven't really tried the game.

Can you download the games you buy online from there, or do you get a serial? :)

Since SR3 is a Steamworks title, it will be a key which you can activate on Steam. However, keep in mind that this site is an unauthorized reseller, which sells scans of the keys. This can cause all sorts of trouble, so it's not recommended to use sites like those.

No. Sites like Amazon, GreenManGaming, GamersGate, Impulse etc. are totally legit and safe to use.

Most unauthorized resellers are wordfiltered here in this forum, so if you want to see if the site is legit, just paste the URL into the textarea and hit the preview button.

If the URL gets changed to something like this: http://www.g2play.net

Witcher 2 - 14% Off - I simply cannot recommend the game at £30, yes it has newer content on top of the 2.0 stuff they added but this remains a spring 2011 game and deserved a far better price cut. CDPR continue to tarnish their reputation. Yes it's selling, but it really should not be.

Kingdoms Of Amalur - 33% Off - By itself the base game only product should be avoided, however I DO recommend the bundle pack which contains the base game PLUS all DLC to date for £26 as your saving money big time and getting LOADS of content for only £6 more than the basic sale on the front page.
