router question

Why does my server only work, without a router. I tested my server, and it doesn't work while using a router. Without a router just the modem box, my server works. Soo i guess you can say with a router, its only on lan mode. Without a router, my friends can join. What is this, how can I make it to work so my buddies can play on my server with a router.

I tried that website already, and it still doesn't work. I did exactly as it says to do, and it makes no difference. What about static ip?

Servers should always have static IP's, or reserved dynamic ones.
