View Full Version : simple func_breakable question (I hope!)

Okay, hopefully this should be easy to answer.

I want to put some breakable wooden planks in my map. I have no trouble creating func_breakable planks that work, except that they break too easily ( I want to have to shoot them a good few times before breaking). I thought that I simply had to change the "strength" field in the func_break dialog box, but it made no difference - I put it up to 500 000 and it still broke after 2 shots from an AK or knife!!! I must be missing something, what is it?

Also, I haven't mapped for about a month, and when I opened Hammer again, I discovered that my 2D view grid-lines have gone all fuzzy and out of focus (at all zoom levels). I'm sure I didn't change the settings in any way and I can't figure out how to get it looking like before. I can still map, but its hard on the eyes! Anyone else had this problem?

GuLLiWoG,

Check the Flags tab. I'm not at my computer right now, so I don't remember exactly what flags are supposed to be on/off.

Check the "Prop data" keyvalue.

Thanks for the replies, Ill look again at the dialogs, I don't really touch the flags at all yet.
As for the Nvidia thing, turning off the AA worked perfectly, thanks - if only all my Hammer problems could be answered so easily!!

Thanks again all

To expand on Varsity's comment, the 'prop data' option in the func_breakable's properties will override ANY settings you enter for materials or health. Leave it on the default option to use your own settings.

Thanks Crowbar, that worked. I though I had to put he prop data in for the gibs... I didn't realize it overides the other settings at the same time. All is working properly now.
