Okay so...

Im pretty new to hammer and only cutting style tool i kow how to use is clipping... witch removes the whole other side i choose. What are the other tools and how do i use em?

example, ive got a simple room and i want to put a pipe trought the wall witch goes to another room. But of course, theres that wall left so you cant go trought the pipe.
= Whats the simplest way to do it`?

create a cylinder which has the same outer dimensions as the pipe section that will pass through the wall, but don't make it hollow, then right-click on the cylinder and press carve. This will carve out anything that passes through the cylinder.

the clip tool has 3 modes; you could call them left delelte, right delete, or no delete. You cycle through them by clicking on the tool button itself. Not very intuitive, but it works

DON'T carve it!! It makes a large number of unnecessary cuts in the brushwork, some of which may even cause errors by being invalid

Yeah, I regret advising carve... It isn't the smartest thing to use with cylinders or abnormal shapes, but with simple stuff like blocks it's helpful.

There are plenty of clear tutorials on the basic things you want to do. Clipping, applying textures, making unbreakable glass, and importing model files into hammer can be found in several places:

The Valve Developer community is best place to start http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Main_Page

To find tutorials about Hammer, click Source SDK Docs in the upper left hand corner, then click Level Design. They will cover all the basic things you want to know. Or you can just go straight to the hammer tutorials here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Hammer

You can also try these other tutorial sites listed on this page:

Hope that helps

it's easier to cycle through them using shift+x.

matter of fact, remove the map tools toolbar altogether and learn keyboard shortcuts now before it's too late.

Blacksmith123's post really helps if you want the pipe sticking out of a wall. Instead of having it in a wall. If you have it in the wall then that means there will be a huge gap between the rooms connected.
