I repeat do not run you map using Hammer. It will not work. You need to go in game to the game the map is for.

You will do the same thing will any source game.

Instructions:

Open the game the map is for; Ex. Half-Life 2, Counter Strike: Source, Half-Life 2:Ep1. Go to options, keyboard, advanced, and check the box for the developer console.

Now open the console(~). And type the following; map mapname . mapname is the name of you map

It would be nice if the could become a Sticky, until Valve fix's it.

Okay, But most of the time when people post a map problem it's because they compiled it through Hammer.

I have noticed that if i run a source game and hammer at the same time, if they use the same models as the game, hammer, steam and the game will hard lock my pc, have to manually reboot.

Okay, well. Save the VMF, and close Hammer. Open game run map.

Yes, I agree with witalldonebefor that starting games in Hammer causes the game to crash on many people's computers. It's been doing this for me for a long time, so I never use hammer to run the game. I just keep forgetting that people actually do that.

Marineio - your computer locks up? I run hammer and source games together all the time. Wow, I can't imagine restarting the games every time you compile! Do you know what causes that?

All this brings me to ask: Why isn't there a solid copy of this software? I am not trying to bad mouth Valve. I love their games! And their generosity to let us use the SDK is greatly appreciated. But why so many bugs? I realize that every software will have bugs, but it seems the amount of bugs in Steam in general is huge.

When Valve fix's something it sometimes messes something else up. I don't think that many people have reported this bug.

But that's my point. Do other editors have this problem for other games? I've seen a little bit of what the Crytek Sandbox Engine can do. Do modders for that have as many problems with bugs?

Don't they use like that 3D Pro Workshop or whatever?

Okay, well. Save the VMF, and close Hammer. Open game run map.

Compile before closing hammer, otherwise, you won't be able to see your changes in the engine. ;)

I don't know what they use for modeling props and such, but I know their world editor is called "Sandbox." Here is the actual thread for discussion of the SDK tools: So what do you thin of SDK? (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=561302)

haymaker references the CryEngine in that thread.
