This problem won't be effecting me soon since I will be dual booting to XP soon, but I might as well bring it up. In the SourceSDK window I set my project to my liking and when I load up Hammer, Model Viewer, etc, the project reverts back to Half-Life 2 in the window. Though the tool I open will still be what I selected, it will load up as a half-life 2 project the next time I load Hammer, MDLviewer, etc. So short story is is that I have to keep changing the project each time I want to load something. Nothing serious, just a slight annoyance.

Another issue is I can't compile models w/o first defining a -game parameter. Otherwise it just gets confused and won't compile the model.

if tyring to use the command prompt I can't use the shortcut 'cd "%steamdir%"' "%sourcesdk%" , etc.

Once again just annoyances, nothing thats halting me from any sort of production. This is all from a clean install of Steam and srcSDK + games were not pulled off a backup CD or anything, downloaded straight off of Steam. Again I will be dual booting to XP soon so these issues should not affect me soon.

Actually, I had that same problem with it reverting back to HL2, but eventually it just stopped for some reason.

i don't know how Vista handles path variables, but that might be why your "%steamdir%" and "%sourcesdk%" variables aren't working.

dual booting XP? genious... so (provided you had an appropriate vid card) you could play your DX10 games on vista and your DX9 on xp? (to avoid the Vista performance hit) cool!
