How do you mount a flashlight on a shotgun?

I was building a map and wanted to mount a flashlight on a shotgun. I tried parenting a point_spotlight to a shotgun but i can never get the light aligned in the right direction. When i go to test the level the light on the shotgun is facing the right direction but as soon as I pick it up the light changes directions. I've tried changing the direction of the spotlight many times. How would I go about fixing this?
