View Full Version : how do i make a dm map

How do I do that for source and play with bots? Do I just create dm spawns and that's it or do I have to download the dm mod and some how apply it.

i think you have to download the DM script and run it from console. but... not sure though

In steam games, go to "my tools" tab and install and run source sdk (not source sdk base). And when the sdk window runs press "hammer editor" i might be called.

Ah, this brings me memories of my first map... Excited, but confused with the top/left/front views... Ended up creating a gigantic room used the couch, coffee table, and lamp prefabs flooded completely with water.

PWNstar, DM maps are just regular maps. The DM mod is a SERVER mod, and it doesn't have anything to do with how you create your map. You either get your map hosted by some friendly dedicated server with a DM mod, or you decide to run your own dedicated server with a DM mod (requires more bandwidth than a home cable internet connection can provide).

Well, he might be implying that he has never mapped before, and the first thing he chose to map for was hl2dm

For bots. Once the map is done. Load it up, and open console. And type nav_generate, and it will create a way for the bots to move.

Um its not my first time mapping i was asking how to make a dm map for css and no one really helped me execpt Latrosicarius. Wow! And filthy slave how the heck did u get the idea i didnt know how to make a room if i was asking about spawns? just wondering.

You would make it like any other CSS map. The server mods are what makes it DM. I thought I helped. I guess not.

Sorry you told me how to make a bot move, not make a dm map. Your lastpost was helpfull though.

You asked how to play with bots. And thats what I told you. You need a NAV file for them. And that makes one.
