Hi all,

I have seen games from 1998 on steam, could you please put Age of Empires Series and the Empire Earth Series on steam? I really enjoyed those games from when I was younger and I want to play them again..

Anyone can post games they want on steam if they want

I'd like to see the game "Vivisector: Beast Within" from Action Forms. It is excellent old FPS, though a bit underrated. Do you think it could be added to Steam? I was so happy;-) Thanx very much.

Am I the only one who believes that Valve is capable of bribing Platinum Games into porting their games to the PC?

pbrain69
04-12-2011, 09:02 AM
i think Valve should create a page within Steam with a list of games not currently available. Each game could have a progress bar and each member would be allowed 1 vote per game, as a show of faith, your vote is worth a deposit on that game, if enough votes are pulled in, Steam could use the deposits to fund the cost(s) and you'd be able to buy the game less the deposit. If you vote for it and don't buy...you lose that deposit (which i think is fair). If there's not enough votes, the game doesn't get added and you lose nothing.

Games could be put up by members, if there's no chance of it coming to Steam, then it should stay posted, but illuminated red, games with votes = yellow, games accepted and being processed = green. new requested games = grey.

Such a good game and a supported version that is glitch free would be epic. It has a large cult following with people still playing it today! Lan sessions still come with so many problems, please add this game. Kick Atari off that gold mine they've been sat on for so long.

That is all.

Nekomancer
04-14-2011, 05:10 AM
Tell Atari to release it on Steam, Valve can only ask, like you, to release it on Steam. Atari has to do the decision. Also there is already a very big "Release this game on Steam" thread in the Suggestion&Ideas board *hint* ;).

BodaciousPie
04-14-2011, 05:19 AM
Yeah but I felt somewhat compelled to have this as my first thread on these forums. Besides, as long as it all helps get the ball rolling! Atari won't do anything with it, sure they've put it up for digital download but this game has so much more potential. If only Chris Taylor had the rights to it, it would most deffinately be a different story.

I would love to see Quake 4 available for purchase on Steam. What I like most about Steam is being able to purchase older titles, such as the Half-Life series, Call of Duty series and even the Quake series, but no Quake 4, why?

Who to ask, id Software or Raven for Quake 4. Just had some awesome times playing it at LANs and would like to experience those good times again. I owned it retail but sold it when I started buying games on Steam thinking it would become available as all the other id Software games already are.

Patiently waiting...

I NEED to see System Shock 1 and 2 on Steam, the only way people can get these games nowadays is to pirate it or waste a couple hundred dollars, nobody wants that, so this is where you come in, Steam.

Valve must do everything in their power to bring this classic into their catalog, this generation is really missing out on the greatest interactive experience of all time.

I'd also love to see KOTR 2 and Postal 2 here.

There's a small repeat fervent anti-Steam crowd of 7 or 8 people over on the Bf3 UK forums, including the PBBans staff, that love to post anti-Steam sentiments and repeat the same misinformation regarding Steam and VAC in order to keep it from becoming a Steamworks game. Stuff like... Steam games are easier to crack and pirate, Steam is bloatware and a resource hog, it costs money to license Steamworks' features, VAC is easier to cheat on and never get caught, VAC does false-positives, etc. Some of the PBBans staff even argued that PB doesn't false-positive and that VAC is known for false-positives. 1. Steam games are easier to crack and pirate:
I think EA can add their own DRM on top of it.

2. Steam is bloatware and a resource hog:
I have to agree. Steam regularly crashes, and opening the steam overlay in portal 2 caused it to start shuttering.

3. It costs money to license steamworks' features
That is true, valve takes around 30%.

4. VAC is easier to cheat on and never get caught
I have seen less hackers in BF:BC2 (Punkbuster) than Black Ops and MW2 (VAC).

5. VAC has false positives
True. Remember when 20,000 people got banned from VAC and it was a false positive?

i've never had a Steam crash, had it installed on several PC's from netbook to watercooled OC'd i7 on XP, Vista & Windows 7.

30% isn't bad, i'm sure high street retailers take more than that.

Steam never crashes for me, and never slows my games down.

VAC isn't bad. Both of the examples you gave were Activision games. Activision wouldn't let Valve implement VAC to its full potential which is why there are so many hackers. I talked to a Valve employee about this. Although there probably are some, I have not seen one hacker in Team Fortress 2.

The other complaints, I really can't argue against.

If you've ever been to Second Life, you know how dreadful the graphics and interface can be. All you can think is that this is video gaming or simulation for the non-gamer who don't know better. Blue Mars is similar, with construction tools held at an even farther remove, for developers only.

If you're not a coder or hardcore modder, you know how daunting modding tools can be when you feel like creating your own levels or games.

Here's what I'd like to see, and maybe Valve is just the right company to bring it to us.

Imagine solid, modern graphics and easy to use interfaces being the gateway to countless worlds. For one, low monthly fee, you have access to player-made levels of your favorite games, or new games spun out of the existing tools. Portal, Half Life, and other Valve properties have tons of levels, made by us, that you can dive into any time. or make your own and contribute to the community. Use the tools to make your own FPS/RPG and unleash your creativity.

The tools would ideally be easy to use, placing functioning doors from a simple list of chocies rather than building them laboriously and coding in their functionality. Lay hallways with ease and decorate them with simple tools that don't unleash every texture in the game at you but isolate the wall patterns for the genre at hand.

Tool packs could be bought and sold with more textures and objects to create old west, sci-fi, steampunk and more. There could be persistent gameworlds, social worlds, anything you can dream up. Other properties could get on board and suddenly there are toolsets and established worlds and levels for Borderlands, Star Trek, Dragonball Z...whatever.

Play what you want, rate what you like, create for yourself, a few friends or the whole community. Enjoy single player content, social content, private co-op with friends, MMOs with thousands.

Someday, someone intrepid will really break this ground. A professional, mdoern video game company has to do this, as Blue Mars and Second Life feels too amateurish, is too expensive, and impedes more creativity than it serves. Someone needs to make the foray into this barely charted territory. Could it be Valve?

Would you play? Create? Socialize? Would you want a private zone with a house? A spaceship? A battlfield? Would you host private RPGs for friends? Would you get hooked on a community member's MMO? Portal levels? What would you think of all this? With games taking 3+ years to be developed from idea to store shelves, could this keep you playing in those long dry seasons when nothing's coming out?

Weigh in on this.

Oh, could it be possible to pay Ed Boon to bring the new Mortal Kombat to PC? He has entertained the idea of porting it (http://kotaku.com/#!5618460/mortal-kombats-post+launch-balancing-add+on-character--pc-plans), though I assume that Valve is capable of providing some... incentive.

x-men origins wolverine
Thank you for contacting Activision Customer Support,
Unfortunately Wolverine was not released on Steam. The main reason most of our game go through Steam is to authenticate the serial key for online play; since this game does not have any online multi-player aspect it does not need a key authentication through Steam. It is possible that it will be released in the future over Steam, but we have no information regarding this nor could we guarantee it's release.

Team Assault: Baptism of Fire (http://slitherine.com/games/TA_BoF)

Main features

Skirmish level
Natural scale environments, weapons and soldiers fighting in close combat action at platoon level skirmish engagements.

Area control missions
The main game type is area control. Positions spread out on the map which players must capture to maintain control of the battlefield which leads to victory. This favour good gameplay and forces players out in the combat area. Annihilation will be optional.

Realistic combat
Deep combat system, that booth favours realism and exciting gameplay. Weapon accuracy and penetration, covers versus weapon penetration, recoil, encumbrance and wounded soldiers are only some of the included features.

Turn-based with good flow
Although being turn-based, a lot of effort has been put into making Team Assault flowing, never having players to waste much time waiting for things to happen. Dynamic turns, counter actions and constant feedback of what’s going on makes you constantly engaged.

Deadly
Having a realistic base in its game system, Team Assault is deadly. Soldiers are fragile and go down fast if hit. There are no health bars, and weapons are sure as can be not harmless, so your environment, position and to a minor extent your body armour is what you have to rely on.

Tactical gameplay
Team Assault is all about tactics. Managing your forces correctly, finding your opponent’s weakness and using the environment to your benefit is the key to success. Bold actions can reward you greatly id well executed, while a stupid moves can cost many of your soldiers’ lives.

Morale
Managing your soldiers’ morale and damaging your opponent’s soldiers’ is crucial. Push your soldier too hard and put them in dangerous situation and they will break. Hammer your opponent’s squads with automatic fire and kill their leaders and they will break instead.

Force Builder
Create your own custom squads using the included Force Builder. Various squad gear and upgrades provide endless customisation. Name squads after your liking to create your own favourite WWII division.

Variety
Team Assault features an arsenal of 20 allied and axis weapons, ranging from pistols and sub-machine guns to rocket launchers and heavy machine guns, 8 different outfits, 7 combat trainings, 4 equipments, such as medic kits and demolition charges, frag and smoke grenades and ranks up to major. yeah but I spose that's my point, as those are never really made by anyone with serious experience. Sony's home was shoddily made and clearly not by game designers. And they still seem to be taking this really weird tact like "how do we make this not a game and profitable" Blue Mars has taken it too far down that road by making people pay if they want to build and create, reserving that for devs only. At least anyone can (with sufficiently large wallet!) in Second life, but its one step above Minecraft in graphics and has the UI of a block of wood.

I'd really love to see Valve's take on this, and especially the other aspects I mentioned which you probably skimmed over -specifically level tools for notable games, ability to craft your own MMO, social world, etc.

its time for this, its really time.

THQ- WH40K Fire Warrior, Game I would love to get my hands on again.

Now this I wouldn't mind... as long as it doesn't include SecuRom like the retail version AND doesn't force install DX9 and .NET Framework 1.1

I tried to get the PC version running on one of my PCs and it totally botched up my installation of DX9 and installed junky .NET 1.1 that messed up something else. I had to totally reformat the computer. (This is one of the reasons why I always delete the DX9/C++ files that come with games.)

I only have Fire Warrior for the PS2, which I can't play since I suck at playing FPS with a controller. So, if they would release Fire Warrior on Steam (minus SecuRom, and forced DX9/NET instalations) that would be swell.

I know a lot of people dislike the game, but its a fairly good FPS set in the WH40k setting. And its equally nice if you like Tau.

Hello,

I was just thinking and that really.

We know America's Army is a free game, and it's a really good game but ever since I've had a problem with the game, I've completely gone of AA3.

I actually prefer AA2.8 where the graphics are not that good, but there are alot of maps, and more weapons than in the new one.

So why not Steam making your own version of a free FPS simulation game like America's Army?

I know you've got Alien Swarm, but that's all good an fun for abit, and like me birds eye view games get boring very quickly.

I love Steam, and the games you make are amazing, I love ALL Valve games

So why not make some sort of simulation style FPS game like America's Army, and maybe free but add in a buy system for like character suits and skin, like what you've done with Portal 2.

I personally think this could be good, free game but with a buy system. Not the buy system where you can buy better weapons, because that gives some people a big advantage over others who don't want to buy anything, and just enjoy the game so that kinda sucks.

Just a buy system where you can buy... armour maybe (no weapons) more grenade, increased magazine and grenades holder, character skins and models Etc

What you all think?

Thank You for taking time to read this!

It's a turn-based strategy game that has a FPS-like twitch factor.

Currently, they're doing pre-sales to allow people into the beta and +1 keys so you can play with a friend. I think this is EXACTLY the kind of game that would play well on Steam and definitely within the indie game developer context that Steam has done such a great job of "bubbling up."

I would love to pre-order this through Steam and am actually requesting that it's added so I can do so ;-)

I really think Steam should have a revised version of the wishlist. You could fill out a wishlist of games Steam doesn't have and that you think they should. They could have a computer program that identifies frequently mentioned titles and they can consider those. The current wishlist is fairly worthless. If you want a game, you know it. You don't have to make a wishlist. Besides, if you really want to make a list you can open a word document.

*Edit* Messiah (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/messiah) would also be nice. :p I actually wonder if anyone from Valve even reads this thread.:( Here is a little something to make you Nostalgic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QyQ9PsOj6A)

There are some great suggestions on this thread. I would prefer if most games were available through Steam. It would make things a lot easier, but failing that let me chime in in favour of
Dungeon Keeper 1&2
Alpha Centauri
Grim Fandango
SWAT 4

Oh, and I would like to do away with that damned regionality issue. I know it is not Steam's fault, but I would like to "add" the Civ games, GTA games, EA and Capcom catalogues to Steam because at the moment they are largely unavailable here. It is frustrating.

Why has no one asked to have The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim added to Steam? The sheer fact that I cannot find a single thread about "WE WANT SKYRIM ON STEAM" absolutely baffles me. We've got Morrowind and Oblivion on Steam, so why not a pre-order option for here? I never thought I'd be saying this, but I wouldn't even care if they made a pre-order bonus hat for TF2.

I mean, good lords, am I missing something here?

I believe all Bethesda games from now on will be Steamworks games.

Pete Hines has now tweeted (http://twitter.com/#%21/DCDeacon/status/39757421274599424) specifics on the reward. If someone actually does this, they'll get free codes for every Bethesda game ever on Steam. This includes all of their games from the past and those that will come out in the future.

I personally agree with this. Ed Boon actually entertained the idea of putting the game onto PC, but there is no official announcement. (http://kotaku.com/5618460/mortal-kombats-post+launch-balancing-add+on-character--pc-plans) I would imagine that Valve is rich enough to provide the necessary incentive to do so. Also, if that happens, I say that the PC character should be The Scout.

BF 2142 is an instant buy from me.

I would say Condemned, but it has a horrible bug that causes decreasing performance over time.... they never managed to patch it. It would be a liability for Steam.

A lower price on SH: Homecoming. 40 bucks for a 3 year old game is... yeah, you get it.

1) No Metroid game was ever released for the PC and there never will be.

2) Nintendo is NEVER gonna make/port any of their series/games to the PC when they can force you to buy their own consoles.

3) If you want to play Metroid, buy a Nintendo console.

There is NEVER gonna be ANY Nintendo games on the PC (legally) EVER. Stop asking.

With the hope Valve is still watching this thread, I believe without a doubt that Battlezone, Battlezone 2 and the full game patches that later were put onto them should be on steam, they are both great games and generally unknown and they deserve some love from the masses and even though I have all, I would buy them again just to show my support (and for the automatic updates and patches of awesome)

Some dreamcast games had been added before If I remember correctly and it would be cool if more got added IE Skies of Arcadia, or maybe even some other console games that would work on the computer would be rather cool to see.

Lots of Star Trek games that could be added as well IE the Star Trek Armada series would be fun to snatch up.

There are so many old games that should be brought to steam but truly I fully and honestly hope that the Battlezone series is brought onto steam that would seriously make my day :P ty for reading this if you even did valve or otherwise.

I would really like to see Sega's upcoming PC MMO "Phantasy Star Online 2" on Steam.

Since Sega doesn't have that good of a track record when it comes to online games, I thought maybe Valve could help them out and release it as a Steamworks game + acheevs and make it a VAC game.

I just don't want the game to turn out like PSU... using GameGuard (ugh!), and having some really bad DRM on it.

Hi all. In order to putting this question on new threat I must say I have unusual idea and Valve members must read it.
Let's start. I like Alien swarm, Killing Floor, etc. I like zombies. Recently steam was going on PS3, so I have a serious question to developers. CAN U GIVE US, PC GAMERS WITH SONY AGREEMENT DEAD NATION GAME? This is a PS3 title only. Many of Steam users like zombies like me. Can U ask Sony to next PARTNERSHIP?

Anachronox was a sweet genuine rpg gem released between Deus X 1 and Thief games, and it featured a wacky storyline with a slacker as a hero teaming up eventually with some other cult characters.Futuristic setting, ownership of your own spaceship, real time turn based combat, arcade mini games, endless fun.

I never saw the title being offered on any digital platform, literally buried by the hype of big ION STORM titles, but it was real and like any great sleeper game of his type was forgotten fairly quick. It's sad ION STORM saw it strictly as a side project and nothing more.

Please consider bringinh this lovely nerdy game to the Steam family.

Throne of Darkness
Shadow Company: Left For Dead
Omikron: Nomad Soul
Baldur's Gate series
Neverwinter Nights
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

seriously...those are all games I used to play pretty frequently, but then as updates happened (Vista) for some reason, the computer I had wouldn't play those older games, and so now that I don't even have them, I gather that if I even went through the trouble of finding these old games, they might not play on this new computer.
I realize I might find some of those on GoG, which I'd never heard of prior to now, and therefore have no knowledge of what it is...but regardless, I think they'd make strong additions to the game library (because I know I'd buy them pretty much immediately).

Third-party console games.

Why? Valve has the money to pay their way into getting the more well-received console games on to the PC games such as LA Noire, Final Fantasy, Vanquish, Bayonetta, and Mortal Kombat 2011. And honestly, I can only see that as a "right reason" to delay Episode 3.
