Stronghold and its sequel/expansion(s)Love(d) that game. Back when my friend got his new PC ~2001-2002 or so (Pentium III, can't recall the rest), this was one of the games he got. I convinced him to get a PC alongside his Playstation 2 for Red Alert 2. He loved Red Alert 2, and I loved Stronghold and got it for my PC. Still have it too. Would be nice on Steam, since I never played any of the expansions/sequels/whatnot.

Edit: It IS on Steam! All of them (a collection of five games), too, for a mere $30.

We could say that's $5 a game and $10 for the latest/newest. Gonna consider it. Would be nice if they also sold them separately though. Gotta read up on it to see if the sequels went worse or it they were more of the same/better. If the latter, I'll probably be buying.

Windows Vista/7 compatibility? Nice (albeit I recall my original Stronghold worked fine in Windows 7 64-bit off the bat last I tried it).

Have you ever think about it that valve cant add any game to steam. Its the publishers who will decide whether they add the game on steam or not.

But i hope some publishers will read this thread and add their games.

Greetings all! I've been searching for a game for a long time now, and it appears to be more than difficult to find by easily accessible means. So I thought, hey, maybe Steam would have this in their wonderful and large collection of fantastical games.

Much to my disappointment, I was wrong. Which is confusing to me, as it is the sequel to Knights of the Old Republic I (KOTOR), which is already available on steam, and needless to say I have munched that up quite quickly.

So yes I believe having the opportunity to add KOTOR II, one of the best RPG games out there, to mine and many others Steam library would be beneficial to all, result in quite a number of sales and simultaneously making many a fan of both Steam and Star Wars VERY happy indeed. I certainly hope this is taken into consideration, thanks!

Torrented it and its made so perfectly but its a shame not many people know about it.

Actually, I would buy it in a heart beat. I never had the chance to play the full game besides the demo, and I did enjoyed it.

One game I would LOVE to see in the Steam store is Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (the game, lol). There was a game released with the movie back in 1999 and it was an awesome game, despite some negative reviews. The only real problems were camera angles at times, and the occasional weird AI moments. Otherwise, it was an awesome action-adventure game with some great RPG elements and loads of puzzles throughout that are actually fun and rewarding to solve. No other game would make me happier if this was added!

One upon a time, in far far far away Seattle, There was this group called Valve whose game were distributed by Sierra Entertainment. One day, Valve sued Sierra for copyright infringement, and illegal distribution of their games in cybercafes. Vivendi, Sierra's owned, counter-sued Valve stating that Steam is against their publishing agreement then asked for intellectual property rights and tried to stop Valve from using Steam to publish Half-Life 2.

Then, in 2004, judge "something" said something like this "Valve is cool, go ahead, and Vivendi owes you moneh." Or something like that. Valve answered " Yah cool kthx bai."

In 2005 onwards, Valve started using EA as their retail publisher, ditching Vivendi.

In 2008, Activision merged with Vivendi ( including Sierra and Blizzard Entertainment) and closed Sierra for a future sale.

In 2009 Valve sued Activision for not paying the whole sum of moneh Vivendi owed them.

You see the pattern? we will most likely not see Vivendi games on Steam, even tho they are now owned by Activision, or Activision Blizzard as they are called now.

I think all D&D/Infinity Engine/etc. games (Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, etc.) should be on Steam. I know, copycat move with GOG getting them first, but you just can't beat the bundle deals here. Besides, more importantly, Steam, for better or worse, has more exposure, which would be a big help in boosting their profile.

I know its a little old (2005ish) but it was/still is an awesome game.
Plus Activision I'm pretty sure has legal claim to it since it took over Sierra (who made the game), and Activision has a bunch of games on Steam already.
Every once in awhile over the past years, I've been wanting to play this game so bad, but ever since I upgraded to another computer and lost my codes for the game, I haven't been able. (also coupled with the fact that retail stores are jerks and give no space to PC games nowadays...)
Please read this one comment amongst thousands Valve! lol
(otherwise I'll have to buy another physical copy off of Amazon - don't let this happen!)

I'm just wondering why in the world didn't those publishers unleash everything in their library on Steam.

Are they worried that releasing a Command and Conquer Generals would affect their sales of Red Alert 3 or Kane's Wrath? Lots of people are collectors obsessed in completing a catalogue of their favorite games.

Retro gaming is a wonderful little gaming subculture. I'm speaking about retro PC gaming of course. Nintendo retro gamers are quite annoying though.

Am i the only one who thinks that Valve should bribe console-focused developers into porting games into PC? I'm certain that PC gaming would benefit from having some notable console titles such as Red Dead Redemption, Kingdom Hearts, Vanquish, Ikaruga, and Castle Crashers.

I wish every game was on steam. There are so many childhood games I would like to buy. but being more specific, some titles off the top of my head id for sure buy:

1. Metal Gear Solid Series.
2. Crash Bandicoot Series.
3. Skullmonkeys
4. Luigi's Mansion
5. Viva Pinata
6. Gears of War series
7. Dead Rising 1
8. Halo Series
9. Chrono Cross
10. Every other game in the world

I got out of gaming when I was about 13 years old, from then on my brother was more into gaming. Now that I have a nice custom desktop and steam, there are so many games I want to have just put into my steam library. It used to only be Counter Strike but then they made the whole crazy interface and all these deals and its just too fun to buy games for cheap. shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii I want these games bad.

The ONLY truely tactical shooter EVER. No stupid shoot first, ask questions never kind of deal. Players had to be alert and know what the hell they were doing!

The point and click adventure genre that was so big in the 90s has made a quiet revival and there are many good games being released, but sadly many are not being distributed via Steam. I was happy to see AlternativA make Steam but so many aren't and I would love to see them on. Hopefully Gray Matter, the most hyped adventure game in some time by the creator of Gabriel Knight, will at least make Steam. =)

Admittedly, I would be totally down with that. It's definitely a plus for already downloadable (PSN, XBLA, WiiWare) games.

They should strike a deal with Atari/Hasbro just as GOG did and get the D&D games (BG1/2, IWD 1/2, PS:T, NWN, ToEE) on the service.

Dear Valve/Steam,

I have been a valve fan since the first half-life release and I love all your games, and the way you promote original developers, mods, and finance them to grow into amazing ideas (such TF classic, counter strike, and portal).

Going back to the main subject I wanted to bring up in this thread, could you please bring the Dungeon Keeper series on steam? I have dungeon keeper 2, but it won't work on my Vista 64-bit. I know Electronic Arts bought the rights of the game from Bullfrog studios, well it bought the whole company, so I guess you are already in a business relationship with EA considering you sell their games.

Steam has done a great job in bringing back the classics, and the Dungeon Keeper series is a part of that past that needs to be revived for many more generations to enjoy. Hopefully that can convince EA to push development for DK3 if there is a wide response.

We seem to get some EA games, not all of them though (particularly those on the sports side) which seems odd to me.

Ever since I really started using Steam back in 2008 I refuse to buy games from the companies directly because with Steam I can download and play as many times as I'd like and not have to worry about scratched CD/DVD's or space to keep the boxes and/or CD/DVD's.

Best of all, they are all stored in one place. Yes, you can get digital copies from these other companies, but you have to use their sites and their downloaders and what not to keep track of them, while with Steam they are all just there (as I just stated before).

You're right there, but think about it, Age Of Empires Conquerors Expansion, it was a hit when it came.
I think AOE with Steam Cloud, Leader boards, and maybe some new updates of civilizations, technologies, maps, and game modes, it can be a new Team Fortress 2 of STEAM.
I personally love strategic games, and i think i am not the only one, i would pay to get a new AOE with the same graphics engine, but just more civilizations or technologies, or units.
Maybe it's impossible, but who knows....

Steam just uses a client whereas the others don't and use the website. Both can be backed up or downloaded again whenever you want. The others just don't have a client or any of the chat stuff (or some may, and it may be optional).

Also, the EADM/EA Store doesn't have the time limit for downloads anymore. It's indefinite now. I bought something there in 2007 with no time extension, and it's still on there. They've overhauled their service (and I dare say it's quite alright). The others are more with the times now.

Steam is simply the most popular/largest. I agree, if I had my choice, I'd want all my games in one place, and that would be Steam for me, but don't let it limit your choices. You can get it elsewhere, install it, and even add it to Steam. The only two downsides are A) it's not listed in your games list (who cares!?), or B) with grid view, you can't choose the image (and I DO want to see that changed, that IS annoying).

If anything, this should be all the more reason Valve needs to do what they can to get more games, and with other digital distributors stepping up, I bet many others have as well. I've begun looking elsewhere for some games. I want them on Steam, sure, but I won't hold my breath if they're already available immediately elsewhere. We need to do this to get Valve to prioritize this, or it'll never happen. I'm a gamer for myself first, a loyalist to Valve/Steam after that.

I really really really want see on steam Blackwell adventure series from Wadget Eye Games. Steam already have "Puzzle bots" and "Emerald City Confidential" from this developer, but refuse take their main series - Blackwell. Maybe because it not so awarded and PRed. But Blackwell is main series for Wadget Eye. And It's really interesting and smart adventure, one of the best indie adventure game. And with pretty picture too, one of the best graphic and animation on AGS engine. And it's much much better then absolutely casual Puzzlebots.

Adding another request for Dungeon Keeper series. To date its got a cult following. Only issue is that the damn thing doesn't work on Windows XP... Im sure its an easy fix for you guys to just update it for current gen windows systems.

Heck another company has even gone so far as to rip it off in a remake changing its name to Dungeons, and its even got an MMO which is exclusive to china for god knows what reason...

So, the Ricochet series (not the tron-like Valve game) by Reflexive has always been one of my favorite of Reflexive's games. I don't know when, but the brick-busting fun time has been taken away from Steam, mostly likely because Reflexive stopped selling games on their website, and stuck to developing. Still, Reflexive should want to make more sales so they can even develop anyways. (Well, they do get sales from Amazon, I think.)

But anyways, in short, get Ricochet, Ricochet:Lost Worlds, Ricochet: Extreme, Ricochet:Lost Worlds RECHARGED, and Ricochet: Infinity back on Steam! Because I will definitely buy them.

EDIT: Oh, and also SWAT 4. That game ♥♥♥♥ing rules.

If so, I would say Minecraft... And I guess WoW, Warcraft(all), and Diablo(all) would be pretty awesome too.

They should pump in some of the classic games that GoG has, like Duke Nukem 3D and Postal 1 and 2.

If it doesn't have to be on PC I would agree with you on Heavy Rain, Indigo Prophecy was AWESOME.
Then I would say Fable 2, I know it is a ♥♥♥♥ game but I want it for Fable 3's save transfer that I do believe I heard it had.
And Gears of War 2 and 3 would be pretty tight too.

Minecraft god i hope not. Id rather not have to play certain games requiring steam to be active (yes i know offline available but as others have indicated it can be flakey)

Wonder if it's going to happen. Steam seems to be a haven for indie games, and Notch would make a lot more $$$ with the extra publicity.

Anyone who goes to any forum at all has probably heard of Minecraft at some point. I don't know how much more publicity it can get.

oh it can. TV spots, radio ads, bus signs, street names, Oprah, a flying ad in the sky, an astronaut saying "Minecraft!" before taking off, a Lottery with it's name on it, a Lady Gaga song named after Herobrine, and so on. ^_^

I'm guessing that it's already popular enough that Notch doesn't need to start sharing his profits with Valve.

Maybe it'll go on Steam when sales start slowing down.

I'm sure he's making enough money selling it on his own just from the good word of mouth and reviews. Once sales start to plateau and dip, it'll probably make an appearance on Steam.

the word "enough" does not exist in the entrepreneurs vocabulary.

you may think he is making plenty of money but there is always more that can be made.

maybe he has already signed up with valve and has not told anyone about it cause the game is still beta?
