Wondering if there is a known issue with the 360 version as I am unable to scroll or select any of the five games on the menu. Home button works fine and I've tried both of my controllers. Can I assume its just a defective disc?
UPDATE: So I installed the disc on a different non-patched 360, and lo, it worked. Once patched, the same problem occured.
UPDATE: Going to try to back out the game patch per the following [step #5]:

I have this problem as well on a newly patched 360. It sucks, can't do anything! I just finished playing Gears of War and now want to play Portal but can't do anything once the game loads up. It goes to the game selection screen and I can't choose a game or even select Half Life 2. Any ideas? This is pretty ridiculous, I can't do anything.
thats quite odd, when did this patch come out? i played last night while connected to live and i havnt gotten any patch since christmas when i first got the game.
i can still choose games

I was actually thinking that 360 system update that occured recently. Either way, the game won't work but all other games do. This is beyond strange. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey Doug,
Well interestingly enough, I determined it was my Sony rear-projection TV itself. I switched the XBOX360 to my new Sony LCD TV it worked fine. There is something with this particular model rear projection unit that the 360 doesn't like but I don't have a clue as to why that would be. Still investigating.

Apparently you can't have a wired 360 Guitar Hero guitar plugged in while trying to play the Orange Box but you can for any other game. Unplugged the guitar, restarted the system, and it worked. Why, I have no idea but it seems to only happen with this game but i'm happily playing Portal now.
