Restart steam by right clicking on the icon on the taskbar, pressing exit, waiting a few seconds, then relaunching steam, this has fixed the issue with almost anyone with this problem

Buying the full game does not mean you get all of the characters instantly, you must first play a few songs to unlock them!

happened to me too: said that the demo was expired. considering it's only ~300 mb, i just uninstalled it and re-downloaded. seems to be working now.

This is not working. I have redownloaded and restarted Steam numerous times. I am apparently still playing a demo version.

Any other suggestions?

You might already be doing this, but make sure you totally exit Steam (like right click the icon in your tray and say exit).

Also, is it possible you still think you're playing the demo because only 4 characters are unlocked? This happens in the full version right now when you open it up--you just need to play a few times and everything will unlock.

alright, worked for me too, it kept telling me it was a demo after a few songs and then exiting, and then when it got back in my unlocks were reset (though I was earning acheivements just fine, how that works I do not know). I tried having it verify the files and it said everything was fine, but exited steam and now its all good, and i have even more characters unlocked :D

happened to me too, i uninstalled the steam version, deleted anything audiosurf beta, demo, or final related and am now redownloading it on steam.

Phew, I was getting worried for a second. Restarting Steam fixed it for me. Perhaps you could get Valve to make Steam restart when people first install it. That or just patch the game hehe.

That happened to me. But I didn't bother to download again >:). I Also had a few achievements right off the bat. I guess I earned both during the demo and they where retroactively granted to me when I got the full version.

My subscription has worked flawlessly for almost a year and now it thinks that it's an expired demo again.. I will try the steam restart fix - hope it helps...:confused:
