6.5?
Excuse me no its not.
Your processor is garbage. I didn't look at the GPU properly so I'll bump you up. The 6950 is not much better than the 560ti.

7.5/10 - Lack of an SSD is the only thing that reduces it significantly. You can obviously build a better system, but it would be costly and not necessarily what you need but an SSD would be very advantageous.

8.5/10 - 2500K/2600K was built to overclock. Seems a waste, why not just get the normal 2600 if you were planning on running it stock? Not to mention the 3rd party CPU cooler, at stock speeds you should have just stuck with the OEM.

I already had the cooler when I got the 2600k. Is that a minus? My system runs very well the way it is, granted that I might get more FPS in some games by oc'ing the CPU. The reverse isn't true of guys running their 2500k/2600k at 4+ ghz with a paltry GTX 560 ti. They could remove the overclock and get pretty much the same performance. All they are doing is getting some bragging rights while undermining their systems' stability and the longevity of their CPUs...
Oh and if you're giving that guy above me a 7.5, I cannot possibly be only 8.5 on your scale.

It's my scale, so it is what it is. If you don't like it, wait for someone else.
Based on the fact that this is a GAMING forum, my ratings are based on gaming potential. Your processor is very little different then his in that regard. The 2600K won't get additional gaming performance on 95% of the games out there and you are running a lower clock speed, however you have a nicer video card and an SSD. It's a "what's in the box" rating, the original instructions say not to post external peripherals like speakers and monitors, so they are not included. Be thankful I didn't take off for not following instructions. I usually do.

What do you mean a 2500k brings down the score???
The 2500k and your CPU have hardly any performance difference in games, so you paid more for the same performance. Unless you do some CPU intensive outside of gaming. The 560ti is not a sub-par graphics card. It can max current games easily give or take a couple games. That is definitely not the definition of sub-par. Also the 560ti is very close to the 570. 60hz monitor is fine... How is overclocking bad for a i5-2500k It means that its unlocked to overclock. You have a i7-2600k and not going to overclock? Then why didn't you get a i7-2600 and save money...
Guess I'll have to be fair scoring this computer...

Well, I think this being a GAMING FORUM, the refresh rate of the monitor is very important, unless all you play is peggle.
What do you mean a 2500k brings down the score???
The 2500k and your CPU have hardly any performance difference in games, so you paid more for the same performance. Unless you do some CPU intensive outside of gaming. You are making my point for me. OC'ing your CPU to over 4Ghz hardly gives you anything else than bragging rights and almost no gaming performance, ESPECIALLY with a 560ti The 560ti is not a sub-par graphics card.Well, when paired with a 4.2Ghz i5, it is. It can max current games easily give or take a couple games. That is definitely not the definition of sub-par. Also the 560ti is very close to the 570. I have two 570s. I think that makes a difference, yes? :) 60hz monitor is fine...No, it is not. That's just hearsay. People keep repeating how 60hz is fine, well before LCDs we had 100hz+ monitors and when LCDs came, everyone complained that 60hz was far from enough. Guess what, now people make believe that the human eye can't see more than 60fps. You go 120hz, you will see a HUMONGOUS difference if you have the GPU to drive it. How is overclocking bad for a i5-2500k It means that its unlocked to overclock. You have a i7-2600k and not going to overclock? Then why didn't you get a i7-2600 and save money...

LMFAO that is very cute, kiddo. And I don't OC because I DON'T NEED TO, even with two GTX 570s in SLI and a 120hz monitor. But maybe someday I will OC it if I feel I *NEED* the horsepower. Unlike the unthinking masses, I don't OC for bragging rights and then need to change my CPU 18 months down the line because it isn't stable anymore... I can just imagine the freakish bottleneck your 560ti is ... But then again so is your monitor. If you were running your 2500k at stock, your system would be better balanced. Unless you are doing some crazy CPU-intensive tasks outside gaming. Ooops, but I forget, this is a gaming forum... :D

I like how you ignore parts of my paragraph.
Example: You have a i7-2600k and not going to overclock? Then why didn't you get a i7-2600 and save money...
I'm sorry, but you seem to be running away from the fact that you paid extra for a processor that you can overclock and then are not over clocking it. Also you're ignoring the part about the i5-2500k being identical to the performance of your i7-2600k in gaming. Calling me a kiddo is not really insulting me considering I am a "kiddo". It just makes me laugh :)

I wrote kiddo because it is obvious that you are one from the way you write. I was not trying to insult you.
I did say I MIGHT overclock it if or when I feel I need more computing power. I paid for that option. But I prefer spending my time gaming rather than tinkering around inside my PC, given that I am far from a kiddo and have limited time in a day. My PC is not a hobby. It's a tool, for both work and gaming.

At Grunt7684, totally uncalled for addressing someone as 'kiddo', there no need to adopt a patronizing attitude, I agree with what Patflute had said. The GTX560 Ti is NOT a subpar card and can max most games easily, especially the 448core version which performs near a GTX570 level. Btw, 60Hz monitor for gaming is totally fine, saying otherwise is just wrong...
Also, having two GTX570 is great and all, but try running BF3 with Ultra setting + 4xMSAA + FXAA @1080P, they will choke because no matter how fast they are, there isn't enough VRAM to run BF3 smoothly at that setting. There are tons of members here with uber rigs who do NOT feel a need to patronize others.

Oh, I know about that limitation of my GTX 570s and hate nVidia with a passion for it. Putting out cards that are hobbled by a lack of VRAM like that is inexcusable in my opinion. ESPECIALLY that the GTX 570 gets compared to the Radeon 6970 and is considered "faster" (by what? 1% overall?) and yet chokes on some games for lack of VRAM. No one dared compare the 2.5Gb version of the 570 to the 6970 because that one costs A LOT MORE than the AMD based card.
I am definitely sorry for having been suckered by this crappy nVidia hardware. All for a 3D setup that I don't use that often. The 120hz monitor though, you could not be more wrong about that. 60hz monitors are dinosaurs. Try a 120hz for a change and you will not be able to go back.
I have the 448 core 560ti and game on a 60hz monitor, must make me a kiddo :(
No, the previous poster wrote in a way that showed a very young age. I have been gaming since games exist and have a home computer since 1982. It was not written out of condescension, but rather about a certain lack of historical perspective on the writer's part.

I see a few ppl complaining about not over clocking a CPU that has an unlocked multi..
Here is my 2 cent's.
1.. Just because someone has an unlocked CPU does not mean it needs to be over clocked, the cpu's in question here can run any game without an over clock, In fact you may only gain 1 FPS if ya lucky.
2.. True over clocking is an art it takes time to push a CPU to its limits and have a 100% stable system just because prime 95 runs for 24 hours + without a bsod does not mean its 100% stable, how much code is involved in prime 95 not a lot I can tell u throw in some more instructions and you could find a bsod you where not expecting, I have seen it for myself..
3.. More heat to remove, more load on the power phase witch also gets hot how many after market coolers help cool this, not many I tell you...
Anyway this isn't the ♥♥♥♥♥ thread its the rate my PC thread lets get back to what its ment to be and stop bickering , fwiw I don't give or add point for over clocking as there is know way of knowing if it's 100% stable ask mike what he thinks actually don't look through this thread and see what he say's, btw he takes points off for over clock's...

What resolution do you play at?
I think adding a second 5850 would be an awesome upgrade. The rest seems to be quite sufficient for most games. With two 5850's, you would certainly be ready for Battlefield 3.

To post all you have to do is post your computer specs.
Post the imporant specs such as your video card, processor, motherboard, ram, hard drive(s),operating system, PSU etc...
Do NOT post unnecessary items such as what kind of speakers you have and other items. It will not make your computer look better because you have 7.1 surround sound speakers. All that matters is the interal parts.

9/10. And IPS monitors are too slow for gaming. Purty colors, OK fine, but any fast-paced game would greatly benefit from 120hz. Get a Samsung S27A950D and Put them side by side in cloned mode. You shall see.

I assume that's because I only have the one graphics card? Once the price drops a bit I'll probably pick up a second, as some games are very demanding at 2560x1600.
IPS monitors are definitely not too slow for gaming and the image quality is dramatically higher than TN panels, which are the only ones used for 120Hz. The HZ30Wie (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz30wie.htm) has incredibly low input lag and a very high refresh rate.

I imagine that my next monitor will be an OLED, as they offer better colours, better contrast, consume less power, are thinner and support much higher refresh rates (allegedly up to 1000Hz). It really is just a case of waiting for the technology to come down in price and for manufacturers to get on board.

I suspect that the first generations of OLED will be too burn-in prone to be used as computer screens.

Yes, single graphics card. You could do better with a newer CPU and a second GPU, ideally using GPUs with over 2GB of VRAM, as full detail at the res you are playing is going to take lots of VRAM. Some games won't work well at full detail because of that. So that's a half point for a single GPU and a half point for your GPU being hampered by the limited VRAM.
A "very high refresh rate" of ... 60hz.
Seriously all these guys naysaying the 120hz monitors are either just jealous coz they can't afford one, or they haven't tried one. Sure the images are prettier on an IPS, but the 120hz makes MORE of them. But then again with a single 680, you can't really drive nearly 120 fps at full details on the most demanding games, so it's a non-issue. Your monitor isn't a "bottleneck" to your experience. I would say it's the right monitor for your rig, even though it is far from the best monitor for gaming.

Also there is no need to brag about your hardware man.. Saving that we're "jealous" or can't afford it is very childish. You should create a monitor refresh rate thread if you really want to talk about it so much, as you obviously do.

Yep, believe me, grunt, I, and I'm sure many others, have nothing to be jaelous of, and certainly not because we can't afford it. If you are so keen on epeening about 120Hz monitors, do as Patflute had suggested and start a thread on it.

Actually, the VRAM is fine. That was my concern as well but if you check out the benchmarks the 680 matches or surpasses the 7970 at 2560x1600, despite having less memory. It will likely become an issue in 18-24 months but I'll worry about that later.
Seriously all these guys naysaying the 120hz monitors are either just jealous coz they can't afford one, or they haven't tried one. Image quality and resolution are more important to me than a faster refresh rate. There aren't any 120Hz monitors that have the same viewing angles, colour depth or resolution (2560x1600). And it's not a case of being "jealous" because people "can't afford one", as my monitor cost £700/$1110 - more than any 120Hz panel on the market. To some people, like yourself, the refresh rate is more important to gaming; to others the resolution and image quality are more important. There is no definitive "right" or "wrong" here.
Anyway, I don't want to derail this topic any further. I'd just like to point out that high resolution IPS monitors are excellent for gaming. Let's get back to rating computers! :)

Right now my tower is sitting in the corner of my room collecting dust. Off to playing solitaire on my laptop.... :p

Its a good solid build with small room for improvement enjoy..
Nice hdd sizes btw
Yeah. I was hoping to get a 4TB before I added the second 3TB but they were only available in external enclosures. I'll be upgrading before the release of Windows 8, as the Storage Spaces feature will provides RAID-like functionality and will require extra space. BTW, four of my drives are in a SATA backplane (http://www.ebuyer.com/221436-startech-3-5-4-drive-trayless-hot-swap-sata-mobile-rack-backplane-hsb430satbk) so that I can hotswap them out without powering down my computer, as well as monitor which drives are being accessed. I highly recommend one for people that constantly tinker with their system. :D
I'll be posting my update in a week or 2 keep an eye out for it I think you will like it and what I'm planing to do when the last few parts are purchased.. not long now!Heh, sounds interesting. If you're eyeing up a Core 3930K then I'm officially jealous, though I just can't justify one for my rig.
Sold my GTX580 earlier this week to make room for my new GTX 680 which is currently on backorder :(

9.5/10 - CPU overclock could be a touch higher and the X25M is a little dated. What resolution do you game at? I assume it's 1080p/1200p, in which case the 680 is more than enough to cope. I consider monitors integral to the system, as if you're running triple monitors or 2560x1600 then that impacts how good the graphics in a system are.

I game primarily at 1080p. I have REALLY bad vision so I can't even imagine gaming on more than one screen. As far as SSD's goes, my motherboard is a little over two years old and it does not support SATA3. I bought the X25-M rev 2 right after it came out and it's still running like a champ till this day. If I were to upgrade to a SB-E or Ivy Bridge setup today, I would continue using the X25-M as a boot drive as there is just no reason for me to upgrade to a faster SATA 3 SSD. Sure I might get faster load times (within a margin of error) and faster transfer speeds in benchmarks and so fourth, but taking all of this into consideration, it just does not justify me cashing out on a newer and faster SATA 3 SSD. For what its worth, SATA2 SSD's still get the job done, especially if you are using one as a boot drive.
I've pretty much maxed out my CPU overclock. Ran it at 3.6GHz for the first couple months when I first bought it, then bumped it to 4GHz. I tried bumping it up to 4.2GHz a couple of times, but the extra heat (+10c) and higher volts (1.28v vs 1.35v) is just not worth it.

AMD Mobility Radeon 6370 512MB DDR3
Win 7 64 Bit Home Premium
1600 x 900 display resolution
Max temps under Furmark + Prime95 CPU: 80C GPU: 61C
4.5-5 hours battery life when web browsing.
64 GB SSD (very recent addition) + 640GB HDD
Not great by any means, but plays most anything out there, with the exception of the absolute most punishing games, and beats the snot out of IGPs of the time I bought it. I did get Battlefield 3 to run at 30+ fps at 640 x 480 with a ton of Post AA.
Stays amazingly cool for an HP laptop despite a couple hours of the double torture test. Is also pretty solidly built, so it will last a good while. Hopefully, I'll have a desktop within a year though.

I'd have to give that a 9.7, -0.2 for closed loop instead of custom loop, and -0.1 for SATA-SSD instead of PCI-SSD. I'd still give both my legs to own it though xD oh also you're using an e7/e9 with the DT-770's? come on, spring for a high end amp!!

My laptop.
Intel Core i5-460M @ 2.53 GHz
6 GB RAM
As promised, I'd said I'd rate it......but so did not expect a lappy, I so suck at rating lappies!:o So-so CPU, borderline GPU, 6GB RAM's good, SSD + HDD are pretty good, so, let me fart out a number -
6.2 on laptop rating, NOT based on desktop rating!
On the whole, a laptop that gets the job done.....

I'm thinking on there side for 3600Wx1920HI may do it, but I'm awaiting news of the HD7990 6GB, I may go Tri-CFX and relegate the spare HD7970 to my 2nd rig.....the HD6950 @6970 spec will be mothballed as a reserve card. BTW, IF you do go EyeFinity gaming, there'd be no turning back!:D

I finally stopped waiting for/researching hardware and bought my system today :) Im a casual gamer and Im kinda on a budget so nothing too fancy, but I think I have created a solid and well balanced compact system for my needs.
Originally I wanted to buy a SSD but I decided to wait and buy an Intel or a Crucial on sale later rather than getting a cheaper less reliable option now just for the heck of it.
The specs:
Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3 Intel H61 mATX DDR3 S1155
Intel Core i5 2500 3.33GHz 6MB Box S1155
Kingston HyperX RAM DDR3 8GB 1333MHz kit CL9
WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB SATA6 16MB 7200RPM
MSI Radeon PCI-E HD7850 OC 2GB DDR5 TWIN FROZR III
Corsair TX Series 650W TX650M 80+ Bronze
Fractal Design Define Core 1000 (120mm fan mounted in front)
Arctic Fan F9 Pro PWN 92mm casefan 700-2000RPM (rear exhaust)
Samsung SH-222BB DVDRW SATA 22x black
EDIT: Im not rating other builds in this post, but I have rated several builds earlier in the thread, so Im not breaking the rules listed in the OP.

Thanks, lol/
I needed a laptop pretty quick when I got it, so I just asked the sales person which laptops have dedicated GPUs, then picked the only one within my price range. Still, is worlds better than the Intel GMA 4500M I was gaming on before.

Man, I thought I can be harsh with my scores, but rsigekibreak deserves a better score. Overall, he has a pretty good system, though I'd mark his down a little due to his not having a 'K' model CPU. The HD6970 is only one generation old, latest is the HD7xxx series, but is still one beastly card. I know as I have a HD6950 @6970 spec and it simply kicks butts in games. I would rate his at 8.6.

Great mobo, I happen to think Asrock makes fabulous mobos.....and their build quality isn't 'teh suck' as some would say or believe. I've been impressed by them with their recent slew of LGA1155/2011 mobos. Lack of SSD would take your score down a little, so I'd give yours an 8.5.

Personally, The main important thing if your happy with it, the 7850 is a VERY solid card and if it does what you want then that's good enough to me :P
I would of most likely of got the 6950/7850 myself but I got quite lucky on my GPU and the extra power is certainally welcome for other tasks aside from gaming.
tl:dr, ignore them :)

That's an 8.0 from me, no SSD, the Phenom II CPU will get the job done, but is not exactly fast compared to a 2500/2600 'K' and non-'K' versions. Can your HD6950 2GB be flashed/modded to HD6970 spec? I have a Sapphire HD6950 2GB flashed to HD6970 2GB spec and it is doing a righteous job in my 2nd rig.
This is a 'Rate my rig' thread, so let's not go OT.....I have a habit of digressing myself, but if you really want suggestions, start a thread on it and I'm sure the excellent members here would be more than willing to help out.

Run the windows drive clean up, move the internet cache folder to a hdd and try installing things on the hdd if you can select a location, only os startup programs and drivers need be on the ssd and perhaps the latest game you are playing... Clear the windows event log from time to time while its not huge it can get big if never cleaned up..

6.8 (some might consider my ratings a bit on the low side, but you have to leave room for the crazy 680 SLI machines...)
I would probably have used some of the RAM money on an extra 560 (I imagine that the 560 struggles with a dual screen setup?) :)
- Ive changed my motherboard since posting. ~12USD extra gave me USB 3.0 and all solid caps on the motherboard.
Also the 7850 is still not in stock. If I have to wait more than a week Im considering getting an i5 3570 instead of the 2500. Though gaming performance should be pretty equal, and as I expected the IB CPU's runs hotter (draws 81% of the SB current at full load and has half the surface area to disperse the heat)
A copy of my last post including the change;

As long as it stays below 75ºC under full stress it is completely safe, I've seen people using up to 1.48v for a year and they're still good.
I don't plan on going above this voltage though. Reason I chose a close loop cooling is because I move between my 2 houses every couple months, so moving the computer on the car with a custom wc loop is not a good idea. :)

I doubt a custom loop would leak but I do see your point...
Your only excelerating silicon mygration but I suspose it will last till your next upgrade..
But my score stands as i have given a 9.9 to a rig that would eat yours and mine for breakfast lunch and tea with a better case, psu, CPU (have a look at hl2-4-life's rig n you will se what I'm on about)

At the end of the day, you get what you can afford. I'm more than happy with my system. I don't see what the big deal is with SSD's, especially regarding their puny capacity and extortionate price. I had an Acer 120hz monitor and wasn't impressed and bought a Benq 24" instead, which is much better and actually has less ghosting than the 120hz monitor which are over rated in my opnion. Again I'm happy with my GTX 560Ti, as I make a rule of not paying more than £200 for a graphics card and the GTX 560Ti is more than fast enough for 1080p gaming. I think people should also show the price, as my upgrade only cost me around £400, as I got a good price for my previous components which I sold to my dad. :) Overall mines not a bad rig, but then I don't have mega bucks to spend on a PC.
I'll rate your system 8/10, but one GTX 680 would be better than 2x GTX 570's. Also a GTX 570 isn't that much better than a GTX 560Ti OC variant. I agree with what Alshain said about your CPU, as it would better if you overclocked it. Some games are CPU dependent and some are GPU dependent, so overclocking the CPU does make a big difference. I also deduct 1 point for having no Blu-Ray Recorder. They're cheap enough. IMO.
PS. You claim that a OC 2500k is not balanced or stable. That's absolute nonsense. Even with my 520w PSU, I've never had a single freeze or crash. My computer has been rock solid even when playing BF3 maxed out with FXAA at 1080p. The CPU is not overclocked all the time, as when I'm not gaming, it under clocks. I'm also using Asus tools, so I can easily change the clock speed on the fly anyway.
My current computer but I built this 2-3 years ago.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R

I do have coolers in their but can't remember exactly what they are.
I do not really have any performance issues as yet.
Recommend anything to upgrade ?
6/10 ...your graphics card is getting old, there are HD7000 series out now that can wipe the floor with your crossfire HD5770..

And you people still don't know how to rate a Bulldozer CPU I guess since mine either gets a crap score or none at all :p

First, the voltage reported by CPUZ is off. Its 1.479. I verified with my multimeter.
Using watercooling the temps max at 70C with OCCT after 2 hours running small set.
Last, I have been using 2 6870's in crossfire for almost a year but one blew a voltage regulator so as soon as I get the replacement I will post an updated CPUZ shot.

Overall it is a solid build, I'll give it a 7.5/10
-1 because no SSD, and 500 GB is kinda "Meh",
-1 you don't need a 750 W PSU when you only using 2500k and 6870, I rather choose a 500W PSU and buy a 60 GB SSD
-0.5 you did not overclock an unlocked CPU

I really don't think anyone would complain if their system was rated more than once...
A single rating really doesn't tell much and this thread would be so much better if all systems received multiple ratings. 9/10 people doesn't even bother rating when posting their own specs (atleast you kinda tried to talk your way out of it instead of just posting like the majority).

Geez, why hasn't anyone rated this awesome build? 'Cause it has an FX? Regardless, afiter having tried out an FX CPU, albeit a cheaper quad version, I feel the bad press concerning BD is just that, bad press. It gets the job done, heck playing SP UT3, I see higher framerate on my FX4100 @4.2ghz vs X9650 @3.7ghz at same setting, the former has a GTX560OC Ti while the latter has a HD6850 2GB @HD6970 spec. Not an exact comparison but it seems the FX4100 is more than sufficient for many games....tested a number of games on it - Alan Wake, AvP, UT3, HL2, EPs 1 & 2, MW3, SS3 BFE, etc.
Anyway, that FX8120 + HD7970 3GB + 16gb RAM deserve a 9.1 from me......

My own build again, this time with benchmarks; http://i47.tinypic.com/zlxcv5.jpg
The Specs:
Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3 Intel H61 mATX DDR3 S1155
Intel Core i5 2500 3.33GHz 6MB Box S1155
Kingston HyperX RAM DDR3 8GB 1333MHz kit CL9

Arctic Fan F9 Pro PWM 92mm casefan 700-2000RPM (rear exhaust)
Samsung SH-222BB DVDRW SATA 22x black
- Im pretty happy with the temps so far, especially since the 120mm front fan isn't connected yet (only 1 CHA_FAN on mobo so I need a 3 pin adapter) and considering the size of the case. Haven't run any long term testing yet though.
Haven't been gaming much yet either, but after playing Deus Ex for about an hour+ on max settings the GPU temp was 66 Celsius.
EDIT: I know the CPUTIN reading in HWMonitor is way too high, but when comparing to the rest of the readings it just seems like a faulty reading.
EDIT2: Room temperature = 20 degrees Celsius.

I would rate that setup at least a 7.5. Have not had much experience with the newer hardware (been on a Q6600 % 4870X2 the past 3 years) but that seems like a solid setup. Should be able to handle pretty much any game you throw at it on max settings.

Anyway, that is a solid build, very powerful rig but I have three questions -
1. Why 64bit Win7 Ultimate? Are the added features of Ultimate even required by you? Or, are you getting it simply because it is perceived as the best?
2. Not a PSU man, what exact brand and make is that PSU?
3. Why no SSD?

3. Why no SSD?
1. I have Vista ult (32) right now , want to keep the same version plus I know that Ultimate has all of the features that XP had. None of the "home" vista brands allowed for workgroups which I use on my home network for file sharing between computers/laptops. Plus DreamScape (if it is still ultimate only).
2. It is an Ultra X3 model# ULT40311 http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-ULT40311-1000W-Modular-Psu/dp/B001K39XRM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335406619&sr=8-1 Coming from my current rig.
3. SSD tech is not far along enough yet. When they get up to 1TB with a 1GB per dollar pricing I will consider moving to SSD. Until then they are not cost effective for me since I deal with 10TB of data on a monthly basis for my game walkthroughs. I may get a small 40 to 80GB for my system drive though (this one most likely http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Technology-Agility-2-5-Inch-OCZSSD2-2AGT40G/dp/B003WT4Y0I/ref=lh_ni_t ).

Nicely balanced build. Seem to have struck a good value for money in terms of performance. I'm sure it tackles any game you throw at it. My only real criticism would be the H61 mATX board. Doesn't leave as much room for upgrade or overclocking, but if you don't plan on overclocking (since you've got the non-K CPU anyway) then its nice.
Here is where my gaming PC is currently at. I've been considering Ivy Bridge, but the overclocked 930 is still going strong so I might end up waiting for the next gen.

If you're pushing lots of data around for video projects, you'll probably find that the increased productivity from an SSD is pretty valuable.

Intel i7 930 @ 4GHz CPU
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler
ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard
2x Sapphire 2GB HD6970s (in Crossfire)
12GB 1600Mhz G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 RAM
160GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
3x 1TB Samsung F3 HDDs
1x 2TB Samsung F4 HDD
Corsair 650D Case
Corsair AX-850 PSU
Samsung 23” 1080p 120Hz 3D Monitor, Samsung 32” 1080p HDTV, Audinst HUD-mx1 DAC, Sennheiser HD555 Headphones, Microlab PRO 3 Speakers, G19 Keyboard, G5 Mouse
I would give it an 8.
When I think about SSDs, I think about IOPS per dollar, not GB per dollar. If you're pushing lots of data around for video projects, you'll probably find that the increased productivity from an SSD is pretty valuable.
True, but for me space is more important because I do not usually "move" the data around. Here is how it works. I have several recording drives; a 750 (external), 500, and 300 (forgot to mention that on on my list; it is another external). From there I load that footage into Sony Vegas, or maybe Premier now that I will have a 64 bit system, render it out into 14m:56s chunks onto my larger 1T drive. From there it goes directly to YouTube and then they videos are deleted.
I do not normally move the footage or rendered videos around. Now I realise more IOPS means that the drive writes faster which means it could record faster or maybe upload faster but it is not worth it to me unless they have 1TB and come down in price. Right now you are going to be paying close to 1k for just a 500GB since SSD's are $2/GB; that is the lowest I will go with my drives for the walkthrough series.
Maybe I am just being old fashion about it, but I do not see any gains by switching to all SSD at the moment. In four years it may be possible. Not to say I do not like the technology; I think it is pretty awesome that we will not have to worry about magnetic failures anymore, it is just too expensive atm.
To move to full SSD I would have to spend around $6.5K (again 2 bucks per gig for a total system size of 3255.1GB) to replace all of my drives with similar sized ones. I do not know about anyone else but if storage costs three times what it takes to build a rig it costs way too much for me to justify it; new tech or not.

(8,8 with an Intel SSD, 9,4 with a current gen CPU and 9,9 with current gen CF. The last 0,1 is reserved for a configuration that is just like I would have made it myself or very similar.)
To me personally OCing wouldn't make sense since the 7850 will be the bottleneck anyways. I don't render videos or anything like that. Also it's a compact build so an ATX board wouldn't fit :) Just telling it to clarify, Im not trying to "defend" my build, I find the rating quite generous.

Kit Corsair 24GB (6 x 4GB), DDR3, 1600MHz (x2)
The x2 would make it 48GB (12 x 4GB), 12 sticks.
In addition, that motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4046#sp)only has 4 RAM slots.

I disagree, note the use of x2 on the posters other items, he clearly refers to its use as the amount he's buying, in addition, the MB only has 4 slots/channel, it's fail either way.

Nope, it's got to be a better standard HDD, like WDC Black, Samsung SpinPoint, Hitachi Deskstar, and the like.....Green drive for external HDD, yes. I'd marked you down due to having a 1.5GB GTX580 (the 3GB version would rate higher), Green drive for storage (of games I assume since this is a game-centric forum) while OK, it's not ideal imho. Im making a change to this because I did lots of testing while waiting for my "MSI R7970 Lightning Radeon HD7970 3GB GDDR5" and found that it barely outperforms my current crossfire HD6950's..

7/10 Could be better and why AMD?
Because it was cheaper and I know how to build AMD computers. Trust me its better then 7/10 its a 8.5. That CPU is super fast and over clocks to 4.3 GHz. Its not slow at all.
I just don't like Intel mainly because their pins are on the motherboard and not the cpu. And they're just NOT well priced.

How are they not priced well? Intel chips are about the same price and performs better.

...and I know how to build AMD computers.
Lol, is the process any different than building an Intel rig?
Trust me its better then 7/10 its a 8.5.
If you knew what it was rated, why did you ask?
I'd also say 7/10.
-1 for No SSD.
-1 for a GPU that's getting long in the tooth.
-1 for the 8 core AMD that performs worse (http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/434?vs=288) than a 4 core 2500k for the same cost (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=8150&bop=And&CompareItemList=-1|19-115-072^19-115-072-TS%2C19-103-960^19-103-960-TS).

Rate before/when posting specs.
That system is not a 8,5*. Remember the 10 would be a system with CF/SLI 7970/680.
*if you had rated before you posted I would have given you an actual rating.

I'd say 9/10 with -1 for the mid-tier GPU as that's really the only thing that's lacking. But even then the 7850 is respectable and by the look of your monitor you don't need anything too crazy. Nice build!

Which would be a valid argument if the two CPUs offered similar performance. Check some benchmarks...
EDIT: I don't see how reading the OP relates to my ego.
One has to wonder why you are even posting and asking for ratings when you don't care about the ratings/comments you get and instead rates your own system.

-1 no storage info, -1 mid tier GPU, -1 cooler+other, looks like a solid build none the less!
Edit: to elaborate 212's are excellent coolers for the price, when I rate these machines I look at how high spec the CPU is and if it is hi and can overclock I rate down for coolers which won't add a massive OC headroom.

The HDD I'm using is a samsung Seagate 500GB with a Backup USB Drive 1000GB.
Do you think uping up my graphics card is worth it? I want to play most games High to Ultra at around 720p.
BTW, what's wrong with the CPU cooler? I've heard reviews that allowed this thing to be clocked at 4.25 speed!

At 720p there is absolutely no reason to upgrade! I haven't experienced any problems with any games at 1080p with that card. Depending on the mobo model number you could always go CF later when the 7850 begins to struggle. That shouldn't happen any time soon at that resolution though.
The cooler is great, very popular for a reason.
- Please rate before/when posting, otherwise the thread will drown in unrated systems, which is no fun obviously.

Those CPUs aren't comparable at all in terms of performance. The comparable Intel CPU is actually the i5 2500K which performs better than the FX-8150 in many instances and costs $220.
