Or maybe you want something better than crappy, lossy MP3s (I only use them at a real pinch).

But I'm fully trained and have my own passable, albeit "bedroom" studio. Sadly though, I fear I might not be of much use to you, as I'm mostly an old traditionalist with physical mixers and effects units. I do use digital recording though these days (space and cost reasons).

Those RM1Xs are nice little gadgets. I've got a QY300 that I use for a semi-portable musical notepad kind of thing.

I've got a few things "stashed" away (in another room with my thousands of bloody games) but ready to use on the rare occasions I may need them. Mostly effects and the like.

I keep a little, sort of "workbench" of my favourite and most useful equipment sat together. Naturally I use these fairly often:

Roland Alpha Juno 1
Yamaha DX7 (the big original heavy thing)
Novation Xio (great little mini keyboard and a cheap TB303 alternative)
Akai S3000 sampler (I've tried newer stuff but keep coming back to this through familiarity)
Boss DR550 drum machine
Alesis SR16 drum machine
Yamaha QY300 (for quick on-the-fly sequencing)

plus a Yamaha Digital Delay unit that I've loved for it's sound (despite the age), a Boss multi-effects unit all bunged through this big old Alesis 16-track mixing desk.

Then for final playback through my real pride and joy: Primare amp, Primare CD, Monitor Audio floorstanders, all with Chord Company cable where possible.

Maybe a bit of a weird mix, but I'm too lazy to relearn new equipment for a lot of that. :)

well, the first two are happy hardcore-ish, the 3rd one is dubstep, the 4th breakbeat-ish, and the last one dubstep.

man, i hate happy hardcore/european hardcore/house so much. it's got to be the most cheesiest sound i've ever heard. i commented on a youtube video titled, Top 9 best rave anthems on my iPod (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_TIL5mCnKo). they're similar songs to the first two you posted.

the songs i posted are pretty much 'real' original rave songs.

I prefer tracks with a good melody though more. like 'Compnded' for instance has such a bad ♥♥♥ melody to it. That particular genre of music has great melody intrinsic to it. It's just great melody that's not in anyway cheesy. That is something that in UK people seem to have a good sense of as opposed to the european mainland where most of the really cheesy dance music comes from.
