imo he's only ever done a few tracks that the average electronic music listener wouldn't be able to 'understand' or appreciate immediately:

come to daddy
windowlicker
ventolin
the non-piano/ambient tracks from drukqs

- that's barely any at all considering he had a consistent output from 1992-2001 (slowed down at 1998, put out a rediculous amount until then though, and nearly all of it was magic) - all of which i can say blows what most 'producers' are doing these days out of the water !

Get everything Autechre have ever done (even the EPs are essential imo) - what period of their stuff have you heard and liked?
I suggest listening to their work as chronologically as possible.
1993-1996 = their "friendly", accessible years
1997 and onwards = be prepared to listen to albums multiple times before they even make sense

The lines between sub-genres of electronic music are getting ever harder to see. I generally define euphoric songs as ones that are long with long drawn out repetition that gradually builds towards a release/climax somewhere in the song. Tiësto and ATB were the first artists that jumped to mind when you said you wanted euphoric.

I definitely agree with your definition of euphoric trance and I think it is the most common, or 'true' definition. And, of course, archetypal example of euphoric trance would be 'Chicane - Offshore'. I really dig that song, but it's almost too chilled for my tastes, when compared to, let's say' 'Alex M.O.R.P.H. Presents Everest - Oree'. So my what I regard as euphoric trance is probably different from the common definition.

I mostly prefer the type of euphoria trance that is the faster, like Anjunabeats, Dumonde, DJ Sly One (you can google him and find his free mixes on his site), and ATB (though it's quite laid back, generally).

Also, the unfortunate thing about generally euphoric trance, as I see it, is that it walks a fine line between being special as trance often is and being extremely commercialized and just lame. I put Basshunter, eurotrash ('scuze me, I meant eurodance), happy hardcore, and the like in that category. Robert Miles walks that fine line between having something nice and being overly commercial/cheesy.
